I saw that Mother.
OP had her hat handed to her.

MehMehMeow · 25/05/2020 23:59

@Smurf123 if you’re ok with PM-ing an address, I can pop some sachet packets in an envelope? I got those from Aldi in February

eggandonion · 26/05/2020 00:03

I find Leo and Matt quite sweet, Leo is like a Labrador puppy who wants people to like him but gets things a bit wrong.
This may not be ideal as a senior political person, but various other countries seem to be led by eejits.

Inniu · 26/05/2020 00:21

If a rather fit 41 year old man who runs a country in a crisis by day , after being voted out of office, and volunteers as a doctor in his spare time wants to take off his shirt in the park on a sunny day thats ok with me.

If Michael D tried it I might object.

AngelaScandal · 26/05/2020 03:29

If Michael D tried I would salute him

HorseOutside · 26/05/2020 03:40

Don't mind me, just placemarking as I lost the last thread.

@MotherForkinShirtBalls I missed that thread, thanks for sharing. I'm not surprised OP didn't come back Blush laughing at the poster that said in the UK men wouldn't have their shirts off in the park.

@Inniu completely agree with you!

Iblinkedandiamold · 26/05/2020 09:01

I did not know this happened and I dont really care. People will get annoyed because they dont like him. I've seen a lot of posts calling people sheeple saying we've forgotten everything Leo and co have done. We haven't forgotten but even when I was outraged at some of the stunts Leo pulled I still have to admit he's been the best I can remember even before this pandemic. You cant please all of the people all of the time.

Cheeeeislifenow · 26/05/2020 09:02

mother

Missed that thread, okay glad people on here have sense and see he has broken no rules, I saw a FB page that's is supposed to represent nurses and it was a big long rant at how leo should be ashamed of himself.
I don't want to live in a world where you can't sit in a park 😂

Cheeeeislifenow · 26/05/2020 09:03

I agree. I'm not fan of Fine Gael but as far as I can see I think they have handled the crisis well.
I think the fact that Leo is a doctor has helped.

eggandonion · 26/05/2020 09:48

I was in an Asda in a cathedral city in England a few years ago, a lot of men were seriously underdressed. It would never happen in Waitrose.
I hope they can all handle getting out of the economic crisis well, sort out the health system and update the education system from pre school to third level. Wearing shorts, rainbow flags, three piece suits, nice frocks, whatever.

Iblinkedandiamold · 26/05/2020 09:58

I read some TD suggesting that the government take over preschool and pay staff 15 euro an hour.
I think it was one of the people before profit crew.
Anyway a lot of what he said was pure rubbish but I liked the 15euro an hour bit.
I have a BA (hons) second class upper division. (2.1) I'm well worth 15 euro and more an hour.
I dont know how much nurses earn but if they are on 15e they need more.
.

eggandonion · 26/05/2020 10:16

Nurses have better payscales, but long shifts, weekend etc. I think preschool staff are underpaid, but a lot like the term time working. My Dd1 used to work in summer camps in one near us, when a lot of staff were on holiday.
I don't think people are able to pay any more for childcare on top of rent or mortgage, but want good, caring people to mind children. People before profit are great at ideas, I'd love them to be in charge. But I don't know what would happen the economy.

Iblinkedandiamold · 26/05/2020 10:54

Yes government needs to up the GDP on child care if they want to keep people with higher education in it. A lot of people leave childcare once they get my level. I love the job and the freedom I have over my curriculum (as long as it adheres to aistear and Siolta guidelines)

eggandonion · 26/05/2020 11:25

Dd1's friend has just finished a degree but is moving to social work masters. On placements a lot of the staff drove her mad - they were very young and not interested really. It's not a great career for young graduates financially or promotion wise.

Iblinkedandiamold · 26/05/2020 11:34

I know, before I finished my degree I had to work under a girl right out of college which wouldn't have been a problem but this girl didnt have a clue and either did the owner. I was in the room a week and I was trying to get help for a child on the room who had SEN. It wasnt diagnosed buy it was very clear. I wanted to get AIM involved. Girl had no clue there was any help available even though she had level 8, and the owner kept saying parents weren't interested. (They were doctors apparently and they were from India so maybe a bit of fear at being called racist involved?)
I wasn't listened to so I left after a year. I couldn't work somewhere that didn't have the best interest of the child at the centre of it.
I started looking for a new job two months into that job.

eggandonion · 26/05/2020 13:07

Here's a story, which is interesting, just by the way. We have a local preschool which is big, and very good. There was a set of boy and girl twins, and staff noticed an issue with the girl speech. They spoke to the parents, and the public health nurse agreed, and details were sent to speech therapy.
Except the public health nurse decided it must be the boy, it's always the boy. And when the appointment was made it was for the wrong child,so the process had to begin again.
We spent a short while in the states, the school system from preschool to high school was straight forward, but a nurse, psychologist, speech therapist etc was part of the system. There was even a nit nurse.
And the American health system is a mess!

Iblinkedandiamold · 26/05/2020 13:59

Yes always the boy.
I'm baking today, cookies this morning, read in the oven now and fairy cakes ready to go in.
If I sit down for too long I feel like falling asleep so trying to keep busy but dont have the energy to go for a walk.

Dk20 · 26/05/2020 14:24

We availed of AIM support for ds 3 - 4 years ago when he was in pre school, the support was fantastic. However, at the time he was the first child in the pre-school that had availed of the support. The pre-school teachers weren't even aware of the support available, it was the SLT that informed them on a visit.
Unfortunately there are supports for SEN children that arent common knowledge. I know of people who have gone through years paying for private therapy without applying for DCA, as they didn't know it existed.
I know a set of twins where both girl and boy have recently been diagnosed, the boy seems more severe but girls tend to be better at masking.

eggandonion · 26/05/2020 15:09

So we have a situation where well qualified people in various fields who can step in with early interventions aren't in a joined up system There is an opportunity just now to sort out various disconnects - but money, unions, and systems will still be the issue. (Unless People Before Profit take over, they don't bother with money).
Boy/Girl twins would be a great research project.

Iblinkedandiamold · 26/05/2020 15:19

Yeah eggandonion, if a child in my setting needs help then I apply to AIM and they send someone out to access and to see the level of care they need, from 1-7 I think it is.
If they are with a SLT they will often pay a visit too and then speak to me and send me out information to help the child. I am only too happy to receive this but from what they tell me others are not and see it as a judgement on themselves as Educators.
I am only too happy to learn new skills. I'll take all the help they offer. As a result of us all working together off the same page with the child they tend to do well. I've been in Childcare for years and years and there is always something to learn. It really is fascinating. I will never stop learning, there'll be new diagnosis and new ways of dealing with SEN children all the time.

I really shouldn't be oogling our taoiseach's body anymore. It feels wrong. Next time he gives an address that's all I'll see. Grin must take my own exercise more seriously once this infection passes.

MarDhea · 27/05/2020 15:38

I do love Miriam Lord! ❤️🤣
