A proud Northside Dub born and bred.Still in the same house i was brought up in.

DawheadAwgusEeentock · 03/08/2016 15:04

I'm new here Smile

Well not really - I'm a long time lurker and I've posted a few times with name changes for v personal stuff, but this is my first time with my 'real' name Wink.

So fab to have an Irish section. I used to spend a lot of time on boards.ie but have realised how horrible some of it is and that most of the posters seem to be teenage boys. I don't have children but I like mumsnet a lot as it's so nice to have a woman friendly place on the interweb.

I'll be posting in the weight loss forum shortly but thought I should say Hello. I'm from the mid west and have lived here all my life.

Daicheadagus
It took me a while to figure out your name - slow Blush
Got it - 40 and wonderful.

DawheadAwgusEeentock · 04/08/2016 09:51

Aw thanks Holly - not slow at all - I'm v impressed Flowers

I thought it would be a bit mean to use the Irish spelling Grin

I was aiming for 40 and fabulous as some sort of daily affirmation as I feel the opposite since my b'day ...sigh. But I'm not sure that there's an Irish word for fabulous! I even dug out my foclóir english irish dictionary and iontach was the best I could come up with!

LokisUnderpants · 04/08/2016 09:54

South side Dub but moved to the real capital years ago. Living in the wilds of Whesht Cork Grin

honeybuffe · 04/08/2016 13:24

I just found craicnet, love the name! I'm Dublin originally but moved to Meath about 12 years ago.

HesaidIwasflighty · 04/08/2016 15:13

I just found this, love the name! Another one from the People's Republic here, and a Norrie. Lived in Wess Vinglun for a few years and am now a fifth columnist in a village in County Cork (not the chatty one though Smile).

hollyisalovelyname · 04/08/2016 16:09

HesaidIwasflighty- what is a Norrie, where is Wess Vinglun and what is a fifth columnist please?
I thought an Irish thread would be good but I don't understand your post at all. Grin

HesaidIwasflighty · 04/08/2016 17:07

Sorry hollyisalovelyname! A Norrie is a person from the northside of Cork City, Wess Vinglun is how my ex-DH said "West of England", which is where he was from, and the bit about being in the Fifth Column and hiding out in Co. Cork was just a bit of silliness on my part Grin

Just found this board; I'm from NI but haven't lived there since I was 18. Went to uni in Edinburgh and lived there for 10 years in total barring 2 years working in Canada and a few backpacking stints, then moved down to Home Countiesshire 6 years ago. Family all still live in NI though and I usually get back to visit a couple of times a year - seaside town on north coast, wile popular for the hallidays!

ShteakandShpuds · 14/08/2016 13:09

Originally from England but moved here just over two years ago with DH and 5 yr DS. Have no Irish rellies and knew no-one when we arrived on a whim but absolutely love it here and have even got involved in the local ICA. Rowing seems very popular around here, hint, hint.

LazyBabyIRL · 04/09/2016 20:20

Originally from the Wesht now settled in East Cork....pleasantly surprised by the high number of Irish here!!Brew

makingdoo · 04/09/2016 23:09

I'm from Donegal and living in Tyrone. Didn't manage to stray too far!

TriJo · 18/09/2016 08:33

DoYouRememberJustinBobby · 19/09/2016 23:35

I was born in Emyvale, Co. Monaghan, grew up just over the border and been away in England for the last 15 years. Miss it like a mad one.

Carriemac · 21/09/2016 12:33

IntoTheMystics · 21/09/2016 12:43

Love that we have our own board!

Originally from Dundrum in south Dublin and now living in Kildare.

I spent 3 years in Birmingham in between.

My first maternity leave introduced me to Mumsnet and I've been hooked ever since. Long time lurker and this is my first post Smile

Babney · 22/09/2016 16:46

Dublin here, expecting first baby soon!

Cloeycat · 27/09/2016 08:52

Limerick, but live in Uk

harrietm87 · 09/10/2016 11:03

Belfast, but London for past 10 years since 18. Miss it bad and all the family still there. Just married a Yorkshireman whose job is v much tied to London so don't think I'll ever be back permanently now Sad

dubdurbs · 02/11/2016 01:52

Dubl south west, in but I'm living in the Midlands a few years now. I enjoy shocking all the auld boggers by telling them that no, I'm not a local, yes, I am a Dub, and yes, this is the way I've always spoken. I can put on a skanger accent when required, though Grin
