£2.23 in Aldi and £3 on a T-shirt in Primark. Will probably spend about £7 later with Mr Amazon before Prime day finishes.

The Marks and Spencer TGTG was good thank you @DirtyGertiefromno30. It included a baguette so I’ve had cheese, pickle and bread today. More cheese scones, regular scones, doughnuts and enough pastries to make the kitchen counter look like a pastry shop. How are you doing today?

Hope the hospital, and your eyes, are ok @Twogingercats. Enjoy your sausages.

Sorry you’re still feeling rotten @Lockin26.

What kind of cake will you make @Frugal25? I’ve booked one for this weekend and will see how it goes. I’m not sure I’ll like being in a room with people and music. Chickpea bites sound nice. Do you make them? Sorry you’re still feeling rubbish.

Ohhh @cuckoolodger. Cheese for £1. A great find. I’m trying to cupboard and freezer eat but could do better.

Had a quiet day today. I got a postcard from a friend and that was a nice surprise.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 07/10/2026 18:06

Glad you’re feeling much better @Lockin26🤗. And definitely worth getting a prescription to keep in the cupboard for next time 👏.
Sounds like you’ve had a busy day, and town is always a bit spendy unfortunately . At least you got the birthday card posted on time well done 👍.And yellow sticker ready meals are a definite win, especially when you’re on the bus and don’t fancy cooking when you get home. I don't blame you!
Thank you my Mum was so much better again this afternoon bless her 🤗

Wow @cuckoolodger, you’ve done really well there! 👏 Less than £1 for a packed lunch is brilliant, and that soup sounds absolutely lovely and so cheap too. I love how you’re using up what you already have in the cupboard as well great job 👍 👏🤗.

Oh bless you @Frugal25❤️. You really don’t sound well at all. Hopefully it’s not Covid and you’re just fighting off a horrible bug. Don’t worry about the 3lb either, you’ve been poorly, hormonal and starving, so I wouldn’t give it a second thought! Just concentrate on getting yourself feeling better sweetheart. Someone heavily breathing on you on the train when you already feel poorly honestly l hope you've given it to him 🤣. Hope you are home and can have a good rest now ❤️

The M&S TGTG sounds really good 😋😁. Cheese, pickle and bread is really nice l love it 😋. Glad you had a quiet day and lovely to get a postcard from your friend. It’s nice getting something unexpected through the door like that and knowing someone was thinking of you 🤗. I am fine thank you sweetheart just glad Mum is ok bless her ❤️.

I believe in taking full advantage of the local non British supermarkets. I pay around £1.25-£1.50 for a 500g bag of green split peas, yellow split peas, green lentils, red lentils. So for £6 I get 2kg and then mix them up and chuck them in a giant jar. 300-400g of cooking bacon, loads of veg ( literally whatever I have in the fridge/freezer ) , and a cup or two of the jar mix and a bit of garlic and boom. Mates about 3litres. And my soup is completely delicious, I also make it for my local community cafe as a very cheap winter filler and it gets rave reviews. Freezes beautiful, is thick and filling and packed with protein. It’s my absolute go to at this time of year.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 07/10/2026 20:03

God you are amazing @cuckoolodger, really well done for doing all the prep, cooking and clearing up after it. It is so good of you to make it for your local Community too. l am in awe of you great job! 🤗👏

Trip to the eye hospital today, test and photography, so will see consultant in due course. I packed a picnic lunch thinking that we would be there a long time but they were finished with me quickly. Parking was free.😺
went to the farm shop on the way home. £12 for six of their lovely sausage rolls.
we had one each for lunch with home made soup and I have frozen some for the weekend £22 on cat creamy treats from Amazon, Puss is given her medication in these.
Finished stewing the last of the apples, now in the freezer.
welcome to the new people. I am quite new myself and have been made very welcome. It is a friendly and safe corner to come.
You seem to have had a good M&S haul, @RumBananaSundae enjoy!
Nothing like homemade soup, @cuckoolodger tasty goodness!
Hope you feel better, @Frugal25 . Did your coat turn up?
Hpe Mum has had a good day @DirtyGertiefromno30 . Mum has pottered today and helped with the apples. She hasn’t eaten a great deal, says her tablets are making her queasy. I will offer her her some supper presently as she did not have much tea.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 07/10/2026 20:48

Aw bless your Mum feeling queasy @Twogingercats l hope she feels much better now . I give my Mum a ginger tea with honey in and a Rich tea biscuit to try to settle her tummy bless her . Glad they didn't keep you long at the eye hospital l hope everything will be absolutely fine for you sweetheart.
Those sausages rolls sound delicious 😋 🤤.

Hi, can I join you all?

I’m trying so hard to be careful, but live really rurally so the cost of petrol is hitting hard - and food prices in our small supermarket (20 miles drive) are eye-watering.
I’ve recently discovered Jam Doughnut cashback and am very impressed and wished I’d known about it before…I’ve already managed to give my son at Uni a £30 gift card just by buying the weekly groceries through them.
Tonight I made up a cheesy butterbean casserole to use up odds and ends, and the kids wolfed it down and asked for it to be made regularly and added to wraps etc:

Tin of chopped tomatoes, two ham stock cubes, tin of butter beans (including the aquafaba for extra goodness), a sweet potato and a standard potato both diced, sweetcorn, peas, a cube of frozen spinach, carrots, celery and onion all bunged in together and cooked in the slow cooker for a couple of hours. Topped with scrag end of some cheddar for last few minutes to go gooey. The leftovers are in the freezer for next week.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 08/10/2026 08:08

Yes of course you can join us @DiscombobulatedHedgehog🤗. You are more than welcome 😊.
Must say that Butter bean casserole sounds gorgeous l am going to have to try it out, l need to up my fibre and want to use my slow cooker more .Thank you for the recipe 🤗

Lockin26 · 08/10/2026 09:53

Welcome @DiscombobulatedHedgehog that butterbean casserole sounds delicious.

I've got salt and chilli belly pork in the slow cooker, which I will crisp up to belly pork bites with BBQ sauce and plan to put it with some jacket potatoes and salad later on. Made up some sandwiches last night for the next day or two.

Ended up on Amazon Prime last night after seeing the post on here 😂 I got my regular hair dye, concealer and some electrolyte tablets for £15.03!

Catch up laters

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 08/10/2026 14:55

Afternoon everyone 🤗
Been to see Mum who was okish , this post vaccination is debilitating for the residents there but it has to be done l know . If they didn't have them then they would be taking up hospital beds or worse being left in a hospital corridor 😱 and no one wants that for anyone bless them . Been to Aldis took my Mum's friend, spent £18 on flowers a card , and 4 lots of Brie and Stilton 😋.
Oh that belly pork sounds lovely @Lockin26 😋. I bet it’ll be gorgeous all crisped up 😊. I put Gammon in my slow cooker at half one, it doesn't take long to cook TBF . You’ve been so organised with the sandwiches too!
Good bargains from Amazon Prime well done 👏🤗.

Having a stuff it tea tonight. Fish chips and gravy 😋.
£13 for two I would actually call them at least medium size fish meals and gravy enough for all three of us. We will be having white bread and a cuppa!

Frugal25 · 08/10/2026 17:34

Your dinner sounds completely amazing @SpookyHalloweenDeviledEggs can I come too? I guess your week is going the same as your previous post ....
So glad your mum is ok @DirtyGertiefromno30but sorry your mum feels queasy @Twogingercats how is she today?
I haven't had a chance to look for coat but I shall. New coat hasn't turned up yet. Sigh. But I have a rain Mac I've been using.
NSD today. Boom
Made a soup and lasagna for the freezer as the veg was going to be past it's best by the time it came up on meal.plan.
That cheesy butter bean recipe sounds amazing. Was about to ask for the recipe and there it was. Def going on the meal plan thank you @DiscombobulatedHedgehog and welcome 🤗
Like many of you I need to dust off my slow cooker and use now the cooler weather is here.
Feeling slightly better today. Hopefully turned a corner. Skipping rope arrived and looks brilliant so looking forward to using that.

Glad you're feeling a bit better @Frugal25hopefully you've turned the corner now sweetheart 🤗. Well done on the NSD and getting the soup and lasagna made for the freezer yummy 😋 . Slow cooker weather is definitely here now, it's lovely to get something warming on the go and ready for when you come home. I nearly picked up a skipping rope in Aldi today but l thought about it and decided against it 🤣.

@Frugal25 pleased you are feeling a bit better
@DirtyGertiefromno30 agree the vaccinations are far better than the alternatives and hopefully they'll all be right as rain to enjoy the autumn and winter seasons.
@SpookyHalloweenDeviledEggs oh that fish and chips supper sounds amazing and good value too!

Talking of rain it's tipping down and dark here. DD is at her weekly activity so I had my usual run down to the sea front and back in the dark wet night. Dread it all day then feel better once out. Can't wait to get home for the belly pork and a hot shower 🚿

£2.48 coop for 4 x diet coke
£14.85 Aldi

Need a big shop rather than a basket in Aldi or Lidl - finding the time is quite hard!

DiscombobulatedHedgehog · 09/10/2026 11:57

Definitely thermals weather here now. I’ve a wool jumper and socks on too. I want to really limit the amount of coal we use this winter, it does mean though that I can only put the fire on in the evenings using wood, and the house will be colder.

Yellow sticker gammon steaks, home-grown leeks (in white sauce), and mash for dinner.

cuckoolodger · 09/10/2026 13:42

Been to my local save from landfill place today. Got some bargains. I’ll try and list what I got.

5kg fresh chicken wings 2x3= £6
2.7kg frozen Cumberland sausages £5
2 boxes fresh rump steak burgers BOGOF £10
850g turkey escalopes £3
2kg pork mince £8
1kg diced pork leg £3
5 fruit and veg £1
2 loaves

total is £36 I think but I’m sure I paid £37 so my DH could have snuck in a few cakes 😂

the burgers are fresh and so I’ve bagged and frozen them as pre seasoned mince. So that’s 6 really meat heavy bolognese/shepherds pies/chilli . One of the chicken wings are being frozen in my daughter’s freezer for Boxing Day buffet. The other is for lunch tomorrow and then I’ll boil the bones for stock. Sausages will sort breakfast for the next few weeks. Pork leg and turkey is for curry and the pork mince will be used just like the burger meat. Over all very very happy with what I’ve got today to last me the next few weeks. Still got some diced chicken in the freezer so I’ll be using that as a priority.

total is

Oh you did so well @cuckoolodger that's amazing!!!
I wish I was allowed my fire on @DiscombobulatedHedgehog Mr khan says no. So it just sits there looking at me. :(
I used to love lighting it up though.
£cant remember the price but vegan sausage roll on greggs. Got a free tea though.
£20 on flowers for mums birthday tomorrow to go with the gifts she will open tomorrow.

Doing Tesco tomorrow as Lidl won't have some of the bits I need. Dreading the price already.... I'm so used to Lidl prices.
Booked a free flu jab with work though. And got another free tea from Greggs to use so I'm a happy girl

SpookyHalloweenDeviledEggs · 09/10/2026 15:25

My DD now asks for a slice of bread with her tea 😆 if that's not a Yorkie girl I don't know one. My grandmother would be very proud! 😆

Am absolutely loving the fact it's getting colder. Had a lovely nap last night !

RumBananaSundae · 09/10/2026 16:56

Spend about £20 with Mr Amazon. But I have about 20 years worth of Andrex. Yesterday was a write off and I’m not thinking about how much I spent. Today has been about £10 on random groceries.

Ohh @cuckoolodger you have reminded me it’s nearly soup mix weather. I do like soup mix. And amazing landfill shopping.

Hope everything comes back ok from the hospital @Twogingercats.

Welcome @DiscombobulatedHedgehog. How are you finding jam doughnut? I’m thinking if using it but haven’t started with it yet.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 09/10/2026 17:15
