Well done on the M&S bargains @RumBananaSundae 👏🤗.
The parade sounded lovely too, and I bet hearing Star Wars at the Élysée was quite a moment. I am going to have to look at it on YT .
Gutted for you that the boss meeting is tomorrow and you hadn’t realised bless you. That’s the sort of thing that makes your stomach drop when you’ve already got enough on your plate. Hope it’s not as bad as you’re dreading and you get through it okay . Sending you lots of luck and a big hug ❤️

Sending hugs to @RumBananaSundae. Remember. It's Thursday. Nearly Friday. You got this. Sending love Hun remembe he is just a boss. Meh XXX also.... Yellow sticker strawberries!!!!! Whoop.
Well done on your nsd @DirtyGertiefromno30 you always do so well on them. So glad your gorgeous mum is ok too

Hearing roars from the pub.... Is this a good sign??

Frugal25 · 16/07/2026 09:38

£67 in Lidl this morning. That's with me stripping the list back drastically. No chocolate for me (I do like a square of dark chocolate in the evening) and no crisps for the weekend. Even put things back at the til. We shall live off the cupboards this week (they are bursting tbh so we won't starve).
Off to DD leaving party in a bit. I think the parents are then off to the pub as a goodbye to each other. I may go but just have a cuppa.
Rest of the day will be in the garden and the paddling pool.

Hope everyone is ok today. It's Thursday. The sun is shining. All is right with the world.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 16/07/2026 18:00

£67 is not bad at all @frugal25 especially after stripping the list right back and putting things back at the till! I do that all the time lol . Your cupboards will definitely keep you going though, sounds like they’re bursting . I’d miss my little bit of chocolate too! Hope you enjoyed your DD’s leaving party, such a lovely milestone ❤️. A cuppa at the pub sounds just right, and garden and paddling pool time sounds like a perfect afternoon ☀️Those roars from the pub were not a good sign unfortunately 😭. Thank you for asking about my Mum too bless you she was good again today thankfully 🙏❤️.
Did another shop in Aldis £50 and £8 in Morrisons. Stuff for Mum and Dd2. Sorted out a full service for the car at ATS now Formula 1 for £205 which l thought was an excellent price 🤗. Hope everyone is ok and having a lovely day 🤗

£60 today- petrol and snacks at the cinema with work- if I’m going to have to sit through the minions film them I’m going to enjoy a snack!

RumBananaSundae · 16/07/2026 18:34

Spent £9.55 in Lidl and Aldi on milkshake powder, sesame snacks, milk and cherries. Aldi have cherries in their super six this week so I imagine I will be visiting a few times.

Thank you @DirtyGertiefromno30 and @Frugal25. Meeting wasn’t too bad. I took the say nothing route and it lasted about four minutes.

Glad Nana P is doing OK @DirtyGertiefromno30.

I’m joining you with living from the cupboards @Frugal25. You’ll have to tell me what you’re coming up with. If you made it too the pub hope you had a nice time and a lovely cup of tea.

Glad it’s a bit cooler today. Am on the sofa catching up on Sewing Bee. Probably not a good choice as I’m trying to stop myself from buying some bowls with bees on.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 16/07/2026 20:46

Sounds like you did well with your Lidl and Aldi shop @RumBananaSundae, and those Super Six cherries are hard to resist! I bought 2 packs today 😋😁. Glad the meeting was quick and as painless as possible l think you took the right path say nothing and get out asap , horrible Piguana 🙄. Aw thank you Nana P had another good day, thank goodness 🙏.Enjoy Sewing Bee , we like every contestant so far 😁 don't let those bee bowls tempt you too much! 🐝😂

The film- absolutely not, not even sure what the story was really! But the man I was with did so that’s what’s important.
Snacks- yep!

I'm about to book minions as DD saw the poster and wants to see it. I'm hoping it's durable for me :)
She also saw moana live action. The reviews are shocking but I think I'll give it a go. For DD sake. And the rock.... Dream.

£7 on 2 cokes in the pub today. Had a lovely time.
We were late to the leaving presentation. OH faffed with work and mum doesn't walk fast anymore. Bless her, I half dragged her and I could see she struggled on the way home when I relaxed the pace. I made her sit down and drink tea.

Hoping for a NSD tomorrow. Got a vinted parcel to send too.

FrugalinBrighton · 17/07/2026 07:55

Everyone seems to be doing so well!

Aside from reclaimable work expenses, I haven’t spent anything since Monday. I just ordered some cat litter and various treats from Amazon which will come to £40.

Meeting a friend at her place and I will take cake, shouldn’t be a spendy day.

Enjoy the sunshine!

Frugal25 · 17/07/2026 08:32

Ooohhh cake. Enjoy @FrugalinBrighton

I need to start sewing bee. And the piano. Love both @RumBananaSundae
I have polenta chips, rice salad as I have dried apricots and figs to mix in, pasta dishes with passata, and I have some lentils and quorum mince so may make a shepherds pie or spag bowl. What are you making? I remember pistachio always could make anything out of her cupboards.

Frugal25 · 17/07/2026 12:03

Updated to add £2.80 on a chocolate croissant. Did I have the spare cash? No. Did I have the time? No. Did I have the calories to spare? No. Got it anyway. My justification is that;
I used to eat out of pret for every meal. Now I don't touch it as it's expensive so it's very much a treat.
It's my last day in London for 6 weeks as we get the summer to work from home.
It's Friday.
I deserve it.
Now.
I remember chocolate croissants from pret being the best in the world. This was dry, burnt and disgusting. Should have not bothered. that will learn me that the memory isn't always reality.

99p on a gift bag for my friends little girls gift as I've run out of everything at home in order to wrap.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 17/07/2026 17:39

Hope your DD loves Minions @Frugal25 🤞🤗. I'd give Moana a go too 😁. Reviews aren't everything and you've got The gorgeous Rock to look forward to. 😍
Glad you had a lovely day 😊. Bless your Mum too 💐. It sounds like she really pushed herself. I'm glad you got her home, sat her down and made her a cuppa. ❤️
Good luck with your no spend day tomorrow and getting the Vinted parcel sent. 🤞
Don't be hard on yourself over the chocolate croissant. It's a shame it was such a let down. At least it saved you wanting another one 🤗. Fabulous you don't have to go back in to London for 6 months yay!!
Mum was fine there again today, everyday she's ok is a huge bonus 🙏.
Spent £20 in Morrisons on pizzas and a curry deal for the weekend.
Bought myself a Goodfellas gf Garlic
bread pizzas too only £2 on offer so l will try that 🤗😋.
@FrugalinBrighton hope you have a lovely time with your friend enjoy the cake , have a piece for me 😁😋
Hope everyone is ok and having a lovely evening ☺️

Day at the beach with DD and my mum today. Mum paid for parking and we took lunches but £13 on ice lollies and drinks. Then dropped my mum at the hospital to visit someone and spent £27 in Lidl while we waited for her. However several things were things I normally buy at Lidl as I know they are cheaper- eggs, coffee, squash and I also brought some berries on a good deal so not bad.
However the big unexpected expense of the day was DP car suddenly refusing to start- unfortunately new battery needed!

RumBananaSundae · 17/07/2026 18:16

£8.39 today in a combination of Asda and Waitrose. I didn’t need any of it.

Glad you enjoyed the pub @Frugal25. I used up random hummus and a khobez with some left over vegatables and various condiments. Then had a banana some strawberries and ate chocolate spread out the jar with a spoon. What did you go for in the end? Sorry your croissant was disappointing.

Hope you enjoyed your cake @FrugalinBrighton.

This week was curry week for me @DirtyGertiefromno30. Hope you enjoy yours tomorrow. And glad your mum is doing ok.

Sorry about the car @Cuwins.

Had a pants day today. Rejection number six. Great. Was thinking of doing something nice next week for my birthday but think I need to spend the day and this weekend looking at how I write an application. Feeling a tad down about it really. Going from turning down headhunters to not even getting through a sift.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 17/07/2026 19:30

Glad you had a really nice day with your DD and your Mum @Cuwins. 😊 Taking your lunches was a good shout, and your Lidl shop doesn't sound bad at all if it was all the bits you normally buy anyway ☺️👍
Typical about the car though! 😩 Isn't it always the way? Hope the new battery sorted it out and the car is ok now 🤞.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 17/07/2026 19:39

Oh no, I’m really sorry you’ve had such a rubbish day @RumBananaSundae😔 . Six rejections must feel really disheartening, especially when you’ve gone from having headhunters chasing you to not even getting through the sift. Don’t let it make you question yourself or get you feeling down , you’ve still got the experience and skills you have always had , they haven’t suddenly disappeared sweetheart ❤️.
I think looking at your applications is a good idea, but do something nice for your birthday too. You deserve a bit of a treat after all that has been going on in your life bless you .
Sending a big hug. Keep going, the right thing will come along mark my words🤞🙏❤️.
Thank you re my Mum 🤗.
Choc spread out of the jar 😋 now you are talking 😁👏👏

I'm currently going through our cupboards and freezer too we tend to buy daily so don't have masses of supplies but it does tend to build up every so often.

Pretty much essential only spends at work this week (I think) I've started walking to get my lunch rather than driving so it forces a few steps in to have to go buy my fruit and yoghurt at lunch time.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 17/07/2026 19:56

That's a great idea @Ovoemconserva. it will get so you won't even think anything about it and it will become your new routine . I need to do my freezers and cupboards 🤔.
