I have done double cleaning and hard pruned a rambling rose bush. I may or may not have then fallen asleep on the sofa, woke up to find DD asleep on me. That's bedtime ruined!!

You need shares in Starbucks @Ovoemconserva

My car is the same with air con @Lockin26 but it's better than OH car which has none it's that old.

RumBananaSundae · 13/08/2026 19:38

Spending today has been £5.69 in Aldi and £4.28 in Lidl. Bit annoyed as I bought two pick of the weeks in Lidl and they went through at full price. I did think it was more than it should have been but I didn’t check. That has been happening more frequently. Not sure how you are meant to remember the prices of things.

I did get a good view of the eclipse @DirtyGertiefromno30. I think half the neighbourhood had the same idea for their vantage point. The glasses made it look very different.

Goodo on the no spending yesterday @Frugal25. The eclipse made a difference here. It was much darker and car headlights were on. It was quite an eerie feeling. I can see why ancient civilisations thought they brought war and pestilence. Won’t get philosophical about that given my current circumstances.

Had a dreadful work day. You think it can’t get worse and then it does. I work for utter cunts.i don’t want to say I can’t wait for it to be done because having no job is terrifying but I work for utter cunts.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 13/08/2026 20:17

Evening everyone 😊
Spent £26 in Morrisons and £15 in Aldi.
Some of it stuff for Mum .
Smoky outside for the last couple of hours . We have all the doors and windows shut anyway , been shut up like it since 9am this morning when the heat started. Still 28C outside so we will leave it until the smoke lessens.
Hope everyone is ok and not too hot 🥵.

11 days off now, brilliant @Lockin26! 🎉. The eclipse sounded a bit of a damp squib for you too 🙄.
Nana Pumpkin is doing okay thank you ❤️ and yes thank you DD2 had a lovely birthday 🥳 🎂🎉.
£19 Co-op, £51 Costco and £28 Lidl isn’t bad at all, especially staying in budget. It’s these holidays and high days out , they soon add up ! 🤗

Good luck with Starbucks and DD15! 🤣☕️ Definitely take DH’s car with the proper air con ,you’d be mad not to in this heat.

£98 in Lidl and Sainsbury’s but at least you saved about £40 by going in person @Frugal25! I’d call that a good shop 🤗 especially with the discounted candles for the neighbours and the new neighbour that is so lovely of you ❤️
38C no wonder you’re staying in! Sofa it is then. Double cleaning and pruning a rose bush is more than enough for one day 🤣 and bless your little Dd falling asleep on you , that's perfect ❤️

It’s been absolutely disgusting here too @Ovoemconserva, far too hot! 🥵😂 £7 in Lidl isn’t too bad if it’ll last a couple of days and £4 in Starbucks is very well deserved in my book 🤗

OP posts:
DirtyGertiefromno30 · 13/08/2026 20:50

So annoying about Lidl @RumBananaSundaeespecially when you knew it seemed too much 🤗.
Glad you got a good view of the eclipse though! Bet half the neighbourhood were out 😂 .And bloody hell, what a day at work. I’m so sorry it’s been so awful for you sweetheart 😔. There’s nothing worse than thinking surely it can’t get any worse and then it bloody does. I know you’re worried about not having a job, but you shouldn’t have to put up with working for the utter see you next Tuesdays either . Big hugs sweetheart 😘❤️

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 14/08/2026 16:57

God l thought it was bad enough here at 28C @Cuwins& @Ovoemconserva

34 here. Urgh.
I literally melted at my desk and my clothes were wet. There's an image for you. You're welcome.

NSD so far but just about to buy cinema tickets for Moana tomorrow morning.

Spent an hour making pizza dough this evening, popped out to get OH from station as buses are on strike and came back to find the pizza being eaten by cats. Bread, olive oil and vinegar for us. With cheese.
That's after they smashed my favourite vase. Am I questioning my choice to get cats? Possibly.

Love a farm shop. Quite jealous.

I am now off work until the 2nd September. 18 days of bliss. Happy Friday all.

Ovoemconserva · 14/08/2026 18:48

Can air con drives for a mcflurry be counted as medicinal in this weather?

Absolutely!

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 14/08/2026 19:15

34 C 😳 Bloody hell, I’d have melted too! And sitting in wet clothes at your desk aw bless you 🤗
The cats eating your pizza after you spent an hour making the dough is absolutely criminal. How very dare they! Naughty lil devils, then smashing your favourite vase as well 😱 . Talk about bite the hand that feeds them 🤣. Nice bread, oil, vinegar and cheese sounds like a very meagre but tastybackup tea. Hope you enjoy Moana tomorrow and fantastic 18da5s off 😁👏🔆😎😍

It's going to drop to 14 overnight here too. And a bit cooler in most places next week 🙏

Hope the smoke has cleared a bit @DirtyGertiefromno30 and you are all doing okay. Keep seeing the news, at least there seems to be some sort of response now.

That's a great idea about the farm shop @Ovoemconserva may try that next week while we're on leave.

@Frugal25 we are doing the frugal thing proud with our older cars. Working in 34° sounds dreadful. Enjoy your well deserved break

@RumBananaSundae I hope you had a better day today, at least it's the weekend now.

£15.99 Dr Willis sauces. Not the cheapest, but I did get 20% off and was trying to find mayo and sriracha with no additives.
Booked taxis for next weekend - we are in Dublin for the weekend. Never been to Ireland so that's exciting.
Decided to go for a run this morning, forgot to turn around twice for a shorter run and ended up doing 5k. Not a good idea - I was also in a pool of sweat and had to change twice after a shower. 🥵

Ovoemconserva · 15/08/2026 08:02

What are Dr Willis sauces? They sound interesting.

Frugal25 · 15/08/2026 08:18

Love Dr Willis sauces. Yummy.

Well done on your run @Lockin26 I'm going to start running in September and may do the couch to 5k as it's been a few years.

Love my old car. I call her Hattie lol.

How are you @RumBananaSundae? Your day sounded absolutely horrific. Xxx

The cheese (from farm shop) and bread (nice bread not basic stuff) was delicious and actually lovely on a Friday night. Nice and relaxed.

Moana tickets were £16 for today. Hoping the rest of the day is free. Have taken three trays of cakes out of the freezer to take to the party later. Frees up some space too.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 15/08/2026 08:29

Good morning everyone 😊.
Cooler here this morning thank God 🙏.
Off to see my friend this morning and l am on strike for the rest of the day 😂.
Taking my friend some dog treats for her hounds and a bottle of wine to cheer her up . She's going through a lot of crap ATM bless her. Cost me £7 for the wine and £2 for the doggo treats .
Not planning on spending anything else hopefully, l have spent enough 😱.
Thank you @Ovoemconserva yes the smoke has gone this morning. I so hope they have managed to contain the fire . It's just horrible.
Like @Cuwins l want to know what is this about Dr Willis sauces l have never heard of them 🤗.
Have a fabulous time in Dublin my Dd2 has just come back from there and they loved it , they did mostly the free stuff and only paid to go on the train to Belfast and see the Titanic museum. They are going back they didn't see everything but they loved it there 🤗.
You were erybrave running all that way l feel exhausted just reading about it 😂.
Have a lovely day everyone 🤗

Oh Dublin is fantastic you'll have a wonderful time. Can be on the expensive side if your not careful but is lovely to just enjoy the atmosphere.

RumBananaSundae · 15/08/2026 18:26

Spending yesterday was £1.10 in Aldi. Today has been 85p in Aldi and £2.10 in Sainsbury. Sainsbury had olive bread on offer so I had bread and butter for dinner. Menu planning is currently going out the window.

Thank you @DirtyGertiefromno30. Glad your mum is ok.

That’s a relief about the MOT @Theworldisyouroystercatcher. And sorry about your friend

I’ll raise you no clothes @Frugal25. I’ve given up on them in thus weather. And it saves on laundry. I do get dressed going out. That would just be asking for trouble. Cheese is always a winner. Any plans for your time off?

Yes on the medicinal @Ovoemconserva. I hope you enjoyed it.

Have a great time in Dublin @Lockin26.

Trying to wind down today. Work is just getting nasty. Drafted some emails this morning and am trying to not think about it until Monday. So far have had two packets of crisps and an ice cream.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 15/08/2026 18:36

I am so going to have to get some of these Dr Will's sauces they are gf yay!!
That’s not bad spending at all @RumBananaSundae! £1.10 yesterday and £2.95 today. 😂 Olive bread and butter for dinner sounds gorgeous what l wouldn't give for a lovely bit of crusty bread 😋🤤.
Hope you manage to switch off from work this weekend. Leave the nasty emails until Monday. Two packets of crisps and an ice cream sounds like a perfectly respectable dinner to me! 😂
Thanks for asking about Mum ❤️. She had a really good couple of hours today, although eventually turned into a right little madam and told me where to go , she was tired and l had pushed my luck ! 😂
