Yorkshire tea is stupid money. b&m was the cheapest but only 210 v 240

£30 in new look today. But also another £50 voucher.
got a reward voucher at work today. Tempted to spunk it all at TkMaxx on Halloween & Christmas tatt frankly

£23 Asda and £28 return to Amazon

pistachiosanscream · 01/09/2025 20:11

NSD today. Very happy with that. My dad used always say if you pay out of a Monday you pay out all week. I find this tends to be true!

tomorrow is an office day and I’m in the office for the next 3 days. Have the menu planned for those days to use some pre frozen items to make life a little easier.

JustStopItNora · 01/09/2025 20:12

£27 for groceries today and £14 for new pyjamas.

More spendy than I wanted.

I joined Premium Bonds a few weeks ago and tomorrow is my first draw. Fingers crossed!

MaryGreenhill · 01/09/2025 20:18

Good luck @JustStopItNora 😁

Thanks! I am irrationally excited Grin Blush

I was wasting a solid £50 a month on the lottery. So I have a smaller DD going in every month. Just for fun I know, but you never know.

If I win it's Yorkshire tea for everyone. Smile

PearlsPearl · 01/09/2025 20:41

£20 on a Starbucks voucher, but thanks to the referral thread in Chrismas I got £7 straight back into my paypal- an absolute bargain! Never used topcashback before but it was very straightforward.

Starbucks is my guilty pleasure. I get 10% off with work anyway but this offer was too good to resist.

You need to buy a £20 gift card to get £5 back instantly plus whatever cash back they offer. Very easy. Loads of companies, all the supermarkets. If anyone is interested go to the referrals thread. I'll probably never use it again!

chimichangaz · 01/09/2025 20:46

£55 on shopping today split between Aldi and Tesco. Also paid the last of my bin cleaning charges as I’ve now cancelled it. Car in the garage tomorrow having brakes sorted and another issue - brakes are £160 and hoping the other issue is relatively minor…..

Happierwithouthim · 01/09/2025 21:28

Thanks Mary
two loaves of bread in the oven so hoping for a good outcome

booked a plumber & someone to cut my hedges today, things that have been hanging over me for months, need to pick a dryer and that’ll be another box ticked.

Camping stuff still not put away a month later, tomorrow eve, hold me to that!

Glad I don’t drink Yorkshire tea at that price, I’m an Irish girlie who doesn’t drink tea or coffee or eat potatoes, we’re a rare breed!

Chipshop that drink is a tongue twister!

Happierwithouthim · 01/09/2025 21:48

€32.10 on a local 10k, got email that they were down to last 100 places. I was holding off until I’d have 5 miles post injury under my belt but did 4 miles today and was fine so I went for it.

Happierwithouthim · 01/09/2025 22:40

Bread turned out really well & more importantly dd liked it. She doesn’t choose very healthy options so if I can provide this as an option I think that’ll help.

I had all the ingredients in except the walnuts so 85c is the cost of these two loaves.

JustStopItNora · 02/09/2025 04:59

Darn- no luck with PBs so cannot start a MN tea kitty. Sad

JustStopItNora · 02/09/2025 05:26

Oh just to add if anyone is interested... I send flowers to Australia and within the UK a fair bit. (Just did my second one to Australia now for a sad bereavement). I paid £22 for delivery for the year and it's already paid for itself many times over.

I probably send 3-4 bunches of flowers within the UK (at circa £9 delivery each) and 2-3 to Australia (at circa £12 each). So that's a saving on about £50 a year.

That's for Interflora anyway.

ChipshopPickledEgg · 02/09/2025 05:26

Oh just Stop it nora I was excited about my Yorkie tea.
Tell you what when I am the winner of the euros tonight it'll be GOLD Yorkshire tea all-around.

TheGreatWesternShrew · 02/09/2025 05:27

Hi all, new here. I’ve decided to go back to university which means we’re down £40k a year from the family pot… I’m also self funding so essentially we have 4 years of being very frugal to come.

Do any of you have any cheap dinner recommendations? My husband is generally vegetarian but will occasionally allow chicken.

Thanks :)

Best of luck with your studies!

I'm keen for frugal meal ideas also. Again I recommend the Too Good To Go app. Both our local Co-op and Aldi have surprise grocery bags on there occasionally. I got about 3 packs of strawberries that were about to become mushy last time and made jam tarts with them.

needastrongoneagain · 02/09/2025 06:32

Morning.

Sorry about the PB's @JustStopItNora. The Interflora delivery cost saving looks good.

Re frugal meal ideas - I tend to bulk out meals with lentils a lot. We eat various versions of dhal a lot here. I add lentils to bolognaise type sauces or chilli's. Eating these with jacket potatoes I find doesn't use quite the same size portion as using rice etc. Big chunky soups with crusty bread. A batch cook of tomato sauce can be useful, as can anything that can be used for lunches the next day. Good luck with the return to studying.

Put the camping gear away @Happierwithouthim!!

Original Weetabix is insanely priced too! The large pack is £8 - £8!! Obviously plenty of cheaper alternatives easily available but still...

Spends today
£71 Ocado - is a mini big shop (sort of) - too big to be a top up but not enough for a full shop. We go away September so hopefully enough to last until then easily.

JustStopItNora · 02/09/2025 06:45

My spends so far

£76 on flowers to Australia.

£11.75 Co-op topup shop.

Dcs want to go to the cinema for their last night before school. I am happy to indulge. That will be around £9 each then I have vouchers for McDonalds meal deal each which will be about half price. Parking is free.

So again more spendy than I hoped for but back to school tomorrow. Aaargh! Which reminds me! i need to top up their lunch cards!!

MaryGreenhill · 02/09/2025 13:25

£170 Costco on a lot of things. We needed a good stock up .
£20 charity shop for books and 3 packs of incontinence pants for my Mum . Much cheaper than anywhere else sells them
Dentist £30 but it's money well spent thank God my crown has stuck back on 😱😁. On our way home now l will be very glad l am so tired from the Trials and tribulations of going to the Dentist 😱🤣
Hope everyone is ok 😊

hi all.

checking into the new thread.

inset day today so working from parents house. they are watching the dc for me.

spends this weekend - £112 local hotel - this was the balance for a summer BBQ for dh and the dc and parents. had paid £90 a few weeks ago. for that we got:

  • allocated table in the outdoor undercover restaurant;
  • all you can eat BBQ
  • one free drink from the bar
  • allocated sunbeds
  • pool use
  • garden games use.

it was lovely. so much fun. had to practically drag the kids out of the pool at the end of the afternoon.

yesterday i took some stuff back to next - £90 back on my card.

today i have had my first therapy session £140. hopefully this will help me with the post cancer issues. :)

Did you manage the camping gear @Happierwithouthim ?!
Welcome @Retiremenbeckons

Work away day today and i made two boo boos didn't I. Hadn't realized that I was booked 1st class which includes brekkie, dinner, drinks, snacks on the train both ways. I bought brekkie before I got in the train. Argh. Thought "doesn't matter, no one will know. I'll just claim it back" nope. Went and told the boss that I got food on the train as I was so excited. Why frugal why?! Did enjoy the train food though! I really do think we deserve to be 1st class every day all of us.

£7.25 pret brekkie that I can't claim back.
£71.something on father Christmas visit in December for DD. £71????!?????!! And I have noticed that each year it's less and less of a visit but costing more and more. It used to take an hour, with visiting the big man, cookie decorations etc. But now you're whizzed through and gone in ten minutes.

Has anyone won anything to buy the tea bags yet? I haven't.... :(

ChipshopPickledEgg · 02/09/2025 19:33

FFS what's happened to 2 quid in the shopping centre to sit on Santa's knee and get a shit bit of colouring set.
I was looking at an attraction we usually do at Christmas but at £40 im not sure I can be arsed. We will book it in the end but I had a right arsehole day with her and wanted to buy shoes instead 😆
