Nana Pumpkin looks lovely and cosy ❤️.

£79 on the food shop in Morrisons today. I will likely need to do a top up closer to the weekend but that has sorted the bulk of it for us. It also included some more items to stash for the Christmas cupboard. I'm buying one or two items a week....this week a jar of chutney and some foil trays.

£28 also spent on a new pair of gym leggings. I was umming and ahhing about it but then the too-big pair I've been wearing fell down today so I thought it was a sign that the time has come to buy a smaller size. Fortunately I was at home and not on the school run! 🤣

MaryGreenhill · 06/10/2025 19:07

Ah thank you re my Mum
@GameOfJones❤️
Am laughing at your gym leggings falling grown but well done to you that's amazing 💓

Spent £14 in Waitrose this morning. I have no idea what I am buying. Seems to be prunes and chocolate covered raisins The sooner things return to normal the better.

Had a quiet day today. Was planning on reading but took a nap instead.

Thank you for the hug @MaryGreenhill.

My leg can join your eye in a corner somewhere @Frugal25. I hope you are OK.

MaryGreenhill · 06/10/2025 22:16

Ah you are more than welcome @RumBananaSundae you will get there soon keep going sweetheart 💐

Ah thank you @MaryGreenhill I don't know that, so I have booked up a GP appointment! Id rather know. Thank you for caring xx
@GameOfJones I am buying a thing or two every week for Christmas also. It does add up.
@RumBananaSundae how is your leg doing today? More importantly, how are you? I love a nap. I love reading also but a nap tops it!

£.99 on celotape to wrap the vinted parcels up as I ran out.
£3 on a sarnie for lunch.

Beautiful weather today. Just glorious.

Alwayslearning25 · 07/10/2025 08:35

I had a ns weekend apart from groceries. That did include an organic £18 veg box, which we don't get regularly so it more of a luxury.

Monday I spent £2 on toddler group. The £19 in Tesco's on required groceries but also, puddings and snacks. Was given some duck food by childminder so a free trip to the park to feed ducks go on the playground and we took a packed lunch. Weather was lovely. Today I aim for a NSD.

MaryGreenhill · 07/10/2025 09:24

@Frugal25 well done sweetheart. l felt as if l shouldn't interfere but we are all such a lovely crowd here .
l thought you wouldn't mind me mentioning it but l didn't want to upset you needlessly x
I hope everything is fine with the GP and l am proved to be a massive fusspot 😘

Morning Frugal Friends!

@MaryGreenhillI think there’s a person inside all of those covers and clothes! Nana Pumpkin looks very snug 😊.

Hope the eye is okay @Frugal25and it turns out to be nothing. Best to get checked. I’ve had a burst blood vessel in my eye and yes, it looks horrific but it is generally harmless.

You sound very organised @HP87, it sounds like you’ve covered all your bases re spending.

I’m another one that is buying for Christmas in stages too, I also have a specific ‘pot’ which I save over the year.

Spends for the last couple of days
£3.68 second hand recipe book
£9.38 Halloween sweets and decorations The Range (just a few lights etc to show kids are welcome to call at our house).
£47 M&S including Connie the Caterpillar cake for our cleaners birthday, some Halloween stuff but mainly yellow sticker items and I’m definitely going to go there early Monday morning again now I have the time, it was a treasure trove of reduced items!

Can’t remember if I’ve updated other spends but £45 Amazon, £38 supplement subscription, £100 Ocado.

I doubt there will be much spending this week now and we are on track so far this month.

I’ve given the DC some money from the proceeds of the company sale. It was nice to have the capacity to do that, and they are sensible re money anyway and are both likely to save it or use it wisely.

Need to menu plan too.

Johaanah · 07/10/2025 10:05

Hi everyone,

haven’t been spending much this week as I’m on holiday, so 15 euro in Lidl is all that’s come out of the current account.

I did order three bottles of perfume from the Christmas bargains thread for £12.50 each but they were all cancelled by Superdrug so that was a good thing really as it was just more gifts for dd’s and my mum that I wouldn’t have got if they weren’t on offer.

It’s Amazon prime day today and tomorrow but not much on there I need, everything in my wishlist is still full price, I did send DH a link to the Olay super serum 50ml supersize as it’s only £23 today so hopefully that’s a good hint for my birthday.

Actually I also ordered dd2 some Gilmore girls PJ’s from home bargains for £12.99 plus £4 postage also got her a teed diffuser for £1.99 didn’t mind paying p&p as I’d probably spend four quid driving round various home and bargains looking for them.

Hi All,

@RumBananaSundae i do hope you will see progress soon with your leg but do remember every body is different and listen to your physio.

Nana pumpkin looks so cosy @MaryGreenhill i love it!

I hope you kids start to get beet soon @Alwayslearning25 you deserve a medal for this weekend!

Glad to hear you got a doctors appointment @Frugal25, its important to look after yourself

@HP87 you are doing great. So organised and finding creative ways to meet your needs.

Its been a middling spending few days. €50 all in for the circus. €5 on groceries on saturday and a couple of euro on Vinted but mainly using my balance.

This morning i've spent €50 on amazon on cushion storage bags for the outdoor cushions and a food dehydrator. We have loads of apples this year and i dehydrated some in the oven this weekend. They passed the small child test so overall i'm hoping an actual dehydrator will be cheaper than running the oven.

I've an appointment to get my hair cut too which will be €50 as i've already paid a deposit. i have some vouchers i bought last year at a discount and i'm not sure if ive used them up but i'll ask them to check and then make a note of it.

Hi this may not be relevant to you but my air fryer has a dehydrate setting, so if you have an air fryer look up what temperature is recommended and maybe you give it a go with the apples. My daughter loves dried mango, which is very expensive- sadly it’s not much cheaper to buy mangos fresh!

Thanks @Johaanah My airfryer is one of the original phillipps one and quite small so wouldn't even take one of the apples i'm afraid. We took 3 crates of apples in this week and have more on the tree!

I will report back on if this was a useless purchase

Wow that’s a huge glut of fruit - lucky you! I’d definitely be going down the crumble/Eve’s pudding route, I don’t need any excuses ☺️

Alwayslearning25 · 07/10/2025 13:34

Thoughts: the Amazon echo dot kids is reduced to £29. It looks so cute and my DD (7 years old) loves owls, so I thought she could have it in her room. but DH has vetod it and made good points including we have a normal alexa, we don't want her withdrawing from us and talking more to a smart speaker. I was thinking to just buy it because it's a good price and maybe give it to my sister as she's in the process of adopting children. Or just leave it. Non internet connected speakers like yoto or tonnie box are more appropriate but more expensive, and I allredy have audiobooks on audible for the echo....

MaryGreenhill · 07/10/2025 14:09

AHH thank you re My Nana Pumpkin @needastrongoneagain1 🤗
So glad you were able to treat the DC from the sale of the business, you know that gives us so much happiness to treat them doesn't it 🤗
@Johaanahhave a lovely holiday 😁
Ah thank you re my Mum @pistachiosanscream
Enjoy the circus and the hairdressers ☺️
Oh wow @Alwayslearning25

Oh ouch @MaryGreenhill , cars are so flipping expensive aren't they? Glad you're getting it done though as so important.
You can always interfere and I don't mind at all, thank you for caring 😊

Ooohh don't mention crumbles...... Bit of an addict here!!!

Was meant to be a NSD. But we got the bus to the library and play ground as it's more fun than the car. I'm guessing about £2??
Then to bribe her away from the playground and home, we went into the charity shop. She wanted a toy for 50p which they said we could have for free as I didn't have cash but I felt so bad that I bought a jumper so £6 in all.

Just been invoiced out of the blue from the private clinic for the follow up phone call which lasted 2 minutes. £150!!! They were quite grumpy with us so although initially I rated them, I am changing my mind slightly. OH paid bless him.
Off to yoga later so that will be £9. Can't wait 😀

Did do a meal plan so will post it later

MaryGreenhill · 07/10/2025 16:34

Aw bless you for that @Frugal25 hope that jumper is nice 😊 bless your OH for paying the consultation ❤️

It has been a very fruitful (pun intended) year in the garden. Freezer currently has gooseberries and rhubarb for use at a later date. We had a fantastic raspberry harvest getting a nice sized bowl every second day for August and September and a good harvest in June (they fruit twice in a season)

We've also had lots of pears from our neighbours, tomatoes from our own greenhouse and neighbours. We also have swapped produce with a colleague of DHs as they got gluts of things. Now we have the glut of apples. A colleague of DHs will take some for making cider and others will take some for eating.

We are lucky that it is actually a very nice apple thats produced. Think its a traditional red delicious. Big red juicy ones. I've stewed one crate of apples and frozen them for use in pies and porridge etc over the summer and i'm looking forward to dehydrating some now. The tree normally only fruits every second year so i like to make sure we use our bounty in the years it does fruit.

Currently the freezer has a large Apple and Blackberry crumble, and 2 Pear and Almond crumbles. I'll add some crumbles to the freezer with the next harvest. Its so handy to pull one out and bake at the weekend.

Frugal25 · 07/10/2025 17:15

Oh wow @pistachiosanscream I'm really quite envious. Do you have a big garden? I grow my own but it's small quantities so any tips to max it would be amazing. I grow in pots and old wheelbarrows (work a treat) but do have currant bushes and rhubarb for crumbles.

MaryGreenhill · 07/10/2025 17:18

Oh @pistachiosanscream what a harvest . Like @Frugal25 l am drooling at your crops . Well done 😊👏

£7 on chippy tea.
Left home when it was dark this morning and just getting home in time for mafs

No spend day today. Ordered a book an Amazon but not counting it as a spend yet as it’s a pre-order and I’ve not been charged. It’s Amazon Prime, released on the 9th but has a delivery date of 14th October.

Hope everything is ok at the GP @Frugal25. Enjoy your new jumper. And yoga.

Thank you @pistachiosanscream. Physio has said the bits I’m finding the most challenging are the hardest part so not to be discouraged and keep at it. Rather jealous of your rhubarb. And thoughts of your freezer.

Have a fab holiday @Johaanah.

Blimey @MaryGreenhill. That’s a bit of a whack.

Leg a bit happier today. Well not sure if it’s happier but I have been feeling less miserable about it. Didn’t do much today - had a work meeting with the guy. It’s such a head spinner this post-divorce I don’t even know how to describe it. How does anyone find their feet? He’s in the mist of his so I guess we’re both finding our way.

Freezer eating has stalled again with supper being some cheese and a bag of chocolate raisins. My insides must hate me.
