Nsd for me too

Johaanah · 07/10/2025 21:30

Thanks everyone!

LSD today, just 6 euro on a fridge magnet hand painted by a lady at a craft fair, 4.50 euro on a bottle of old formula Elvive shampoo - over the moon with this as the new formula is awful, a bounty and pack of malteasers.

hope everyone had a positive day!

needastrongoneagain1 · 08/10/2025 10:34

Morning.

What a glut of glorious produce @pistachiosanscream, although unlike @RumBananaSundaeI’m not jealous of your rhubarb. Everything else yes, but not the rhubarb 🤣. Dsil has dropped off some of their spinach, so I’ll work that into tonight’s menu.

Hope you had a restorative nights sleep @ChipshopPickledEgg

Ouch to the car cost @MaryGreenhill, cars can be such money pits can’t they. It is nice to help the DC you are right, they need all they can get these days don’t they.

Love the discovery of the Elvive old formula shampoo @Johaanah

Yesterday I spent £83 on Christmas presents from a ‘pot’. Today I’m going to go with DH and find a little gift for all our staff, but this will come out of our sale monies and it’s more going to be a small, personal to each of them type thing than a big outlay.

Edited

That’s such a nice ting to do re the personal gifts! I had a manager about 10 years ago that would always give really thoughtful personal small gifts and we all really appreciated it.

MaryGreenhill · 08/10/2025 14:30

High spend day today for me.
£59 on a car wash for mum's car, they are going to hers on Friday for part of her birthday gift.
£10.60 on swimming session for DD.
£15.10 on eco friendly cleaning products. My eco lady has said she is going to stop selling as costs are just too high to continue so gave me %50 off. So I got an awful lot!

I bet your insides don't hate you @RumBananaSundae . It's all about balance. You will def find your feet again post divorce. I met my gorgeous OH whilst he was mid divorce and he was a bit of a mess tbh. A few years later we are very happy with gorgeous baby. It does all settle down I promise.

All ok at gp. Yay. Eye looks better, hasn't gone completely but it's mending. Headache finally eased. Thank goodness. I find headaches quite draining.

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/10/2025 19:07

That’s a nice thing to do need. You always did look after your staff.

ouchy car costs

I’m jealous of gluts too. Most of my street have allotments so we do get some

bought ds an iPad from prime but grandparents are paying us back
£11 pizza as out at y12 open evening

pleased you are feeling better about your legs progress rum

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/10/2025 19:08

Pleased it was good news at the GP. Always better to be cautious

RumBananaSundae · 08/10/2025 19:15

No spend day today. Two days in a row. Whoop. And a cupboard supper day. And by default tomorrow as I have leftovers.

@Johaanah I read your post as you had bought a bottle of Elvis and thought what a bargain at 4.50.

That’s lovey for the gifts for your staff @needastrongoneagain1 .

Thank you @Frugal25. I want you to be right. Neither of us feel ready but neither of us has walked anway and I look at the mess we are trying to clear up and think how are we ever going to do it. It makes me sad. Glad the GP was ok.

Have two shrivelling carrots in the fridge I should freeze. Now that I’ve mentioned it hopefully I’ll do it.

MaryGreenhill · 08/10/2025 19:25

Oh @Frugal25 thank you for letting us know l am so glad you are ok sweetheart 😘

£120 on rugby tickets for DH's birthday in February.
Got to buy them now or the tickets he wants will be sold out .

PearlsPearl · 08/10/2025 21:47

We are eating out of the freezer and cupboards too, trying to have 3 weeks without Gousto in an attempt to catch up post the holiday. The dogs cost £500 for their boarding so that came out of Octobers money leaving us with not much! So we’ve been having some interesting meals- garlic and ginger salmon with hash browns and sweetcorn tonight 😁😁

Went to Tesco at 930 this morning, never been that time before to discover the fridge for yellow stickers packed with bargains. Don’t know if it was a one off, but got some great bits.

Frugal25 · 09/10/2025 15:19

Oh I love a yellow sticker haul. And a hash brown @PearlsPearl
@MaryGreenhill
It can (and will) all work out @RumBananaSundae . Don't look too closely at the mess. Take one day at a time. Enjoy the small moments.

A spendy day for me, by my standards anyway.
£93 in lidl. In that included a few Christmas gifts and foods, and a birthday gift. Even the cashier did a double take as it wasn't a lot for the price, we agreed it's gone up too much.
£1.50 on mini cheddars as DD discovered vending machines for the first time today as we left swimming. Sigh.
£5.08 on sending a birthday gift.
£1.75 on a plant for my eco cleaning lady as a goodbye and thank you gift.

Did sell two more items on vinted. I'll post tomorrow.
Off to view primary schools in an hour. Quite nervous. We live opposite one that I'm not keen on, but it's convenient. The one I'm desperate for is a drive away and it's down a no drive road ....sigh

Johaanah · 09/10/2025 16:06

I’m also planning on eating out of the freezer with small top ups during the rest of October, we arrive home tomorrow so I’ll just get the basics in and see what I can rustle up for dinners.

Just worked out that October is a long month, don’t get paid until 31st, so will need to eke out the grocery budget for a while yet! Better get meal planning!

MaryGreenhill · 09/10/2025 17:12

Well done on eating out of the freezer @PearlsPearl& @Johaanah.
I love a yellow sticker haul too @Frugal25 in fact l watch one of the ladies on YT who goes to Sainsbury's and gets amazing bargains 😁
NSD for me 😊

OP posts:
RumBananaSundae · 09/10/2025 17:47

Spending today had been the therapist, about £5 in Sainsbury’s (custard and Hula Hoops), £7 on two slices of banana cake from the market and £10 on Amazon on something to help with my leg exercises. The last time I bought banana cake it was £2 a slice.

Quite tired after my appointment. Therapist says I’ve made progress so that is good but the jury is still out on damage and surgery. Some new things have been added to my exercise plan but it’s not made it to my inbox yet. Will chase it later. Can’t believe something as small as that is making me so anxious. Have done no work today.

Have had leftovers for supper but the pros of that seem somewhat outweighed by the Hula Hoops, custard and cake purchases. Am starting to think about what the cupboard and freezer can rustle up for tomorrow. Solidarity with @PearlsPearl and @Johaanah.

Freezer meals are somewhat interesting aren’t they @PearlsPearl. Fab for the yellow stickers. I was accidentally in Marks and Spencer one evening and discovered double yellow sticker time. I have been tempted to get a grocery TGTG bag but I’ve not done it yet.

Thank you @Frugal25. I think today’s small moment might be banana cake. Though the adhesive spray at the therapist did smell quite nice. Well done on the Vinted sales. How were the school visits? Hope they were better than anticipated.

MaryGreenhill · 09/10/2025 19:14

Sounds like a full on day @RumBananaSundaegreat that the therapist says you’ve made progress lovely 😊.
That banana cake sounded gorgeous, even if it's a bit pricey now and leftovers definitely count as a big win. I’ve been tempted by the TGTG bags today but it was for Aldi and you can't pick it up until half nine and l don't want to go out at that time of night . I am getting old l think 🤣

GameOfJones · 10/10/2025 07:44

A couple of reasonably LSD for me the past two days. Yesterday I spent £18 on a gift and card for a friend's birthday but that was everything.

The day before I spent £10.50 on posh wax melts but I love them and use them every day.

Dinners have been whatever we've got in. We are taking DDs out for a day trip on Saturday as we promised them in the summer holidays and then ended up being ill and not going. So that will be pricey but I've got everything in to make a picnic so cheese sandwiches, fruit and a thermos of tea from home it will be and not £50 on a medicore lunch in a theme park café.

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/10/2025 16:55

Pic Nic are the way

I’m put off by the later hour of Thoth bags

great on the small win rum for the therapy Baby steps

RumBananaSundae · 10/10/2025 19:14

No spend day today. Remaining slice of banana cake for supper.

Thank you @MaryGreenhill and @lifelongfrugaleer. I have 11 days and then it’s reassess. I’m hoping things will have improved enough to rule out being sliced and to give some idea of what is going on.

There’s nothing like a cheese sandwich @GameOfJones. Enjoy your picnic and day out tomorrow.

I did laugh at your objection to TGTG grocery bags @MaryGreenhill. That’s exactly my reason for not getting one. They’re far too near my bed time.

MaryGreenhill · 10/10/2025 19:24

@RumBananaSundae
great minds think alike 🤣
You sound a little lighter in tone tonight l do hope everything goes well and you don't need surgery 💐
I think the same about the tgtg bags @lifelongfrugaleer
@GameofJoneshave a lovely day out tomorrow 🤗
Shopping today
£4 in the charity shop for an embroidery kit and £2 for a pr of fleecy fingerless glove for my Mum 🤗
£90 for food shopping in Tesco.
Hope everyone is ok and has a lovely weekend 🤗

NSD for me. It was DMums birthday. I was wfh and she had DD downstairs but we did lunch together and had cake and gifts.

Realized that I've sent the wrong item to a buyer on vinted. ARGH. Have apologized, asked for them to send back and I'll amend. But rats and double rats.

I only got tgtg bags if they were 5pm on the way home from work. After that nope. Def not 9.30. that's sofa time trying to stay awake time!!!
So glad your leg is improving @RumBananaSundae . As @MaryGreenhill said you do sound happier. This is wonderful.
Love a charity shop haul. Well done on the embroidery set.
Picnics are definitely the way forward, enjoy @GameOfJones

The school visit to the one I wasn't keen on actually impressed me.... And seeing as the school gate is directly opposite my house, seems daft I wouldn't send DD there! I'll just open my door in the morning and she will walk 3 paces and be there. I'll still do the other schools to compare though.

MaryGreenhill · 10/10/2025 23:01

@Frugal25thats amazing re the school l am so pleased for you 😊
These school reports used to be strange things . My Dds school was excellent but it was downgraded because they didn't have many children having free school meals .
I don't know if they still do that now but it was ridiculous to me
Thank you re my embroidery kit, it's a pattern of a bit of the Bayeaux tapestry . I do like the medieval period 😁.
Happy birthday to your DMum bless her 🎂
It happens with Vinted and eBay unfortunately give yourself a break 😊

Keep forgetting to update.

Hope the situation improves enough @RumBananaSundae
Good news about the school visit @Frugal25
Enjoy your day out @GameOfJones we used to do that in NT properties and then treat DC to sweets or an ice cream. Much nicer than an expensive cafe.

£25 car valet (needed for work plus it makes me happy when it's done!)
£30 DH Opticians. Doctor had sent him due to headaches but he got a clean bill of eye health and the headaches have stopped. New prescription though so that will cost! Worth checking though.
£25.26 McDonalds to save me making tea.
£27.19 Aldi
£50.48 Amazon - netting for fence panels and shed paint. Bit of a tidy up before the winter.

Tomorrow I'm going Go Karting and then for food with a friend and our teenage DC. At least the Go Karting is paid for. Been a rough 6 weeks so I'm ready for some fun and adrenaline!
