Just had an email to say ours is going up to £64 from the end of May.
Family of 4 - wouldn’t say particular high usage family. Live in the West Midlands.

Just wanting to compare really.

I just paid mine. Was £99 for 6 months. I live alone and it is metered. Thames Water

We are Wessex Water, too, and I think they are one of the most expensive in the country.

Last year's water was 10 payments of £115.89 a month (unmetered).

This year's was going to be 10 payments of £144 a month (unmetered) so we had a meter installed in March.

They overcharged me last year by £1000. I formally complained in writing and did get it refunded. They brought it down to what it should be then just doubled it the last 3 months hence my call.

They really are arseholes and I urge people to challenge them and stand firm.

They had historically lied about meter readings. The meter is not accessible unless I move things around outside and they had said they'd been out and read it, when they hadn't, because it would be impossible to access it.

About 400 a year. West Midlands. Single person household. Dishwasher but no bath. On a meter

irregularegular · 15/05/2025 20:51

How are some of these so cheap??? £1300 per year and can't have a meter. And Thames water execs get huge bonuses while throwing loads of shit into the river.

Wowzel · 15/05/2025 20:52

55 pounds a month

3 people with a water meter

RaininSummer · 15/05/2025 20:53

Mine has just been put up to 100 a month from 64. South West water and on a meter

MiddleAgedDread · 15/05/2025 20:55

Rainbow1901 · 15/05/2025 19:18

United Utilities just gone up 32% to £49.60 per month for just the two of us! But we do have a pond which needs topping up once in a blue moon.

If you’ve got fish or wildlife in it you shouldn’t top up a pond with treated tap water, get a water butt on your downpipes!

ArcticBells · 15/05/2025 20:56

£70 per month for one adult (out all day). No car washing , occasional watering of tiny garden. I’m getting a water meter

Taranta · 15/05/2025 20:57

Well, it was £35 per month, 3 people, smart meter, Thames Water, but then fencing contractor put a hole in my supply pipe and it shot up to £90 a month. Currently trying to sort that out…

marmitegirl01 · 15/05/2025 20:57

Thames Water. Was £39 now £56.
insane increase. TW are shocking poor service, leaks everywhere, fst cat bonuses and you know we are gonna have a hose pipe ban!

CoffeeMad18 · 15/05/2025 20:58

£55 per month S.Wales. 3 adults at home. On a meter.

alcoholfreelife · 15/05/2025 21:01

Ours is around £400 per year, we pay our bill twice a year and we’ve just had our 6 monthly bill for £189.00 , we are with Severn Trent on a meter

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 15/05/2025 21:02

Goodness me! Looking at all of these I realise mine is very reasonable. £19 pm with Essex & Suffolk Water which includes sewage charges. Just me with a shower and a dishwasher. I only do a couple of loads of laundry around once a fortnight though as I have enough clothes to enable that. I have a water meter.

Sunnywithacoolbreeze · 15/05/2025 21:03

£40 per month metered. Two adults showering. United Utilities.

lljkk · 15/05/2025 21:03

I think it's about £80 for 6 months, £45 of that is standing charges.

MereNoelle · 15/05/2025 21:04

£66 a month, 5 person household, Severn Trent

Meadowfinch · 15/05/2025 21:05

£267 p. a.

I have water butts for car washing & the garden.

NoisyParakeet · 15/05/2025 21:08

I'm with Thames Water. It's just gone up from £59 monthly to £77 monthly for a 3 person household. My water usage hasn't gone up.

Clocloxx · 15/05/2025 21:13

FuckityFux · 15/05/2025 14:09

€0. I live in Ireland and when they tried to bring in the water charges, too many people refused to pay so they had to drop them. 😊

There talking about trying to bring it in again.. they can sit and swivel

LBOCS2 · 15/05/2025 21:26

I’m genuinely baffled at the variance on these charges. How can they possibly justify the regional differences in price?

We pay Sutton and east Surrey water £25pcm for ours. 4 of us, including a sewage charge payable to Thames Water.

natalieplusone · 15/05/2025 21:28

£61
4 bed house
3 of us.

Longhotsummers · 15/05/2025 21:32

Thames Water - ours has gone from £45pm 18 months months ago when we weren’t on a meter to £72om this month now that we are. Four bed house with us and two adult DCs.

When I was unmetered I was paying £40pm. I paid that for years and now it works out about £16pm. I feel like a fool.
But I get some people can't get meters for various reasons.

macshoto · 15/05/2025 21:58

£0 (spring-fed water supply and septic tank), but:

Just booked to have cesspit emptied and septic tank sludge removed: £450 (admittedly only second time in 15 years we have had to do this)
About to have second visit from plumber this year to investigate lack of water pressure: £~800 so far this year (and I would say £500-£1,000 per annum on repairs and maintenance is normal)

Chewbecca · 15/05/2025 22:29

Another with Essex and Suffolk Water but not as cheap as the last poster! Ours is £47pm, 2 people with a meter.
