Just had an email to say ours is going up to £64 from the end of May.
Family of 4 - wouldn’t say particular high usage family. Live in the West Midlands.

Just wanting to compare really.

£59pm, south, family of 4 (1 adult, 2 teens, 1 child).
It's gone up loads recently

Expectinglittlebean2024 · 15/05/2025 13:07

Ours is about £20pm in the West Midlands, family of 3. Are you on a meter?

Spidey66 · 15/05/2025 13:55

£27pm, 2 adults, Somerset

Theunamedcat · 15/05/2025 13:56

Same in the same area I'm considering a meter but I'm worried if it's not cheaper

rightoguvnor · 15/05/2025 13:59

Mine is £105 a month. yep. That’s not a typo.
it was £75 a month and when I received my bill (metered) I was horrified. Although we are probably a high use household, I thought an increase of £30 a month was a mistake.
When I phoned the water company, they did some calculations and said that even if I used exactly the same amount of water as I had in the previous six months due to increases in charges £105 a month would just about cover it.

rightoguvnor · 15/05/2025 14:00

Sorry, that’s in Kent.

MargotB · 15/05/2025 14:00

My annual bill is just shy of £700 with Severn Trent. Outrageous!

I've requested a water meter. I was assured by ST that having a meter will decrease my bill (only two people living in the property) and I have 12 months to change my mind.

goingtotown · 15/05/2025 14:00

£48 water meter 2 Adults. No bath only showers.

abnerbrownsdressinggown · 15/05/2025 14:00

We're Thames Water and ours has increased from £50 to £75. We're not metered at the moment, but we're fairly average family users I would say.

Is Severn Trent your supplier?

rightoguvnor · 15/05/2025 14:03

I don’t have a swimming pool or a hot tub and I store over 2000 litres of rainwater to use in the garden.
Im just going to have to smell this summer 😂

Iwanttobreakfree2 · 15/05/2025 14:03

@Theunamedcat If you opt in to having a water meter installed, you can often opt out again if you find that your bills are not cheaper or if there is little difference in the amount billed. You will need to let your water company know within a certain period of time if you wish to opt out again. I think that time period is often two years after you have the water meter installed.

Is Severn Trent your supplier?

Water is South Staffs and sewage is Severn Trent

HelpMeGetThrough · 15/05/2025 14:05

Annual bill is over £1,600 per year.

Pleaseshutthefuckup · 15/05/2025 14:05

It's nationwide. I'm Wessex Water and they just doubled it. I called them and the bullshit line is that the water companies need to do extensive upgrade works.

I don't believe any of this nonsense. He took it right back to the original half rate after I complained.

FuckityFux · 15/05/2025 14:09

€0. I live in Ireland and when they tried to bring in the water charges, too many people refused to pay so they had to drop them. 😊

I reckon we should all try that over here. Fuck em! 😁

The water isn’t too smart either.

Barbarachicken · 15/05/2025 14:34

£83 a month, south west, 3 person household. Too much!

WillTheSHTFsoon · 15/05/2025 14:39

Just shy of £260 a year.
Family of 4
Severn Trent

Not on a meter

Nowdontmakeamess · 15/05/2025 14:46

£145pm, 2 adults 2 children

House0fBamboo · 15/05/2025 14:48

No meter, 4 adults and 2 children £22 pounds a month on a social tariff with Thames water. It's half the price of the normal tariff.

Madcats · 15/05/2025 14:50

£980/year unmetered with Wessex Water -council tax band F. It was £790 last year.

Some of our neighbours switched to water meters and reckon they are paying more or about the same.

DH and I will probably get one fitted when DD goes to Uni.
