Anyone else not turned the heating on yet?

We haven't turned the heating on yet as trying to save money for when the bills will be high over the winter. We have been fine with big jumpers but we do have a log burner and electric blankets..

Any one else not switched theirs on yet and how are you coping?

We've not had it on yet, but today it is noticeably colder, so maybe this evening

We've got a heat pump in the living room, that's on right now. Goes on for maybe an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening. The rest of the house has radiators, we're too rural for mains gas and having supply issues with bottled gas so I can't put the heating on until we can acquire some

We have solar heating... not sure panels, just the sun hitting the house at the right angle that it warms up nicely during the day.

Only just. We put 1 storage heater on yesterday & it's enough for now.

It was 15 degrees in my daughters room after the heating had been on. I’m glad peoples houses are not cold but that doesn’t mean everyone’s isn’t. And it’s a bit stupid asking if people have turned their heating on when you’re using alternative heat sources. I might not have mine on if I had a log burner 😂

If we could harness the energy we could heat the entire U.K with the amount of these heating posts though.

Amazing how our bodies adapt isn't it? I'm amazing at how much this price increase has taught me a lot.

Not yet here in Cheshire. Not been particularly cold yet. Bloody non-stop rain but not too cold. I can't bear the feeling of hot air though. I like cool air around me and then layer up with PJs, dressing gown, blanket and hot water bottle.

Mines on. Hour in the morning and a couple in the evening. I spent last winter freezing my arse off until nearly December and I’m just not doing it this year.

Yes my house is lower than 15 but we are coping. Obviously everyone is different so would have been interested in how people find this.

I'm not sure why you find the need to say it's stupid and to be so rude. I think you will find that this forum is for people to talk through topics of interest and this was something of interest to me and perhaps to the others that responded. If it bothers you that many people talk about the same thing then maybe don't read them.

We have. The house was at 16 degrees and felt really cold. Dh doesn’t like putting it on but realised we were getting damp and mould too much. Heating is now set to come on if temp goes below 18. We have heated blankets and a lot burner too in lounge but need to keep 7 month old warm in bedroom. Baby is sleeping much better now she’s not waking up cold.

Yes I was wondering about the damp and mould situation now we are trying to be braver at bracing the cold. Glad your baby is nice and warm now

We won’t turn ours on till we really need it. Before then it is thermals and layers.

More about doing our bit by keeping our carbon footprint low. It won’t make much difference but better than ignoring the problems.

Thankfully it's not really that cold, so I'll be under a duvet on the sofa this evening.

Oh no! This happened to us last year before Xmas and it was -5 outside. it was such an ordeal and we had no heating for a month and it was horrid! Hope yours gets fixed very soon!

Ours stopped working, so I've been miserable for the last few days. This house is draughty and cold at the best of times so it's crap. Someone was supposed to come out today to have a look at it, but no sign of them 😫

Thankfully I have a hot water bottle and a big comfy down duvet, so I'm sleeping ok but really feeling it working from home today - my hands and feet are cold and I have to get up and walk around a lot, and make tea constantly to keep warm.

Our log burner is in one room. The rest of the house is colder. Bedroom around 13 degrees. Why do you have to be so rude?

I'm interested in the dehumidifier and was wondering if I should buy one. How do you find it helps? I was particularly thinking about it for drying washing but also is it generally good for making the air dryer and does that help when the house is colder? Sorry to be so clueless on this subject
