Mine is 9c anyone else's house this cold? I have my electric throw so not really feeling it until i need to do something and I'm straight back under it.
I know they say it's unhealthy but is it really when you're keeping yourself warm?

It's probably OK if you are healthy and the house is also very dry.

I have been running my house pretty low in temperature on occasion (12-13C) recently, and I find it OK provided the humidity level is low, because you don't get that damp clammy feeling and water condensing out on the inside of the windows and walls.

Unfortunately it's often the case that if you can't afford to run the heating then you can't afford to run the dehumidifier either.

Mines warm now 18c plus we will use the boost. Our little has a terrible cough right now so until she’s well to hell with the bill. They can put my dd up next year.

We're unwell in my house so my house is at 21°

SRK16 · 07/12/2022 20:36

Our bedroom/bathroom are very cold, 8-9 degrees when the heating isn’t on. We are putting the heating for the house on for a burst in the morning & evening but it’s an old, draughty, poorly insulated place and the heat doesn’t stick around. I have an electric blanket on at the moment and an oil radiator which I’ve stuck on for a bit to heat the room before bed. It’ll probably get to 15 but that won’t last. I’ve mostly felt okay though am sleeping in layers and jumpers once the electric blanket goes off. We are keeping my DC’s room warmer with another oil radiator set to come on at intervals. Seems to keep it at around 16-17 overnight.

I don’t really know whether it is unhealthy or not. I think if you’re feeling the cold then yes, but if you’re snuggled up and feel cosy then I don’t think the room temp alone is a major issue?

NewBootsAndRanty · 07/12/2022 20:38

I have COPD, so my front room's at 21. Heating the person not the room doesn't really help here.

picklemewalnuts · 07/12/2022 20:38

About 14 doesn't feel uncomfortable, when I'm sat wrapped up working.

An hour on three times a day keeps us on. It's not drying the washing though. That's getting a slightly damp smell, even with a dehumidifier in the room.

Findyourneutralspace · 07/12/2022 20:41

Mine was 11° when I got home from work but I’ve got it up to a toasty 20° now.

Ilikewinter · 07/12/2022 20:49

19 degrees

northernlola · 07/12/2022 20:59

House went down below 16 degrees earlier as the heating had been off since this morning. I've got young kids in here so don't want it too cold, heating went on and rooms are 18ish now

Athenen0ctua · 07/12/2022 21:01

16 now. 10 when I got home from work 22 hours after the heating had last been on.

Athenen0ctua · 07/12/2022 21:02

It's been 11 in the mornings when we are downstairs for breakfast

Photosymphysis · 07/12/2022 21:03

We've got a ~10 y/o 'new build' which is well insulated. We've had the heating on for 30 mins in the morning and 30 mins about tea time which has kept us going for the last month or so. But today we're down to 14° in the living room. It's a bit chilly. Now it's after 8:30pm I've put the electric radiator on and am about to dive under a duvet.

DH is WFH and has a separate heater in the office to keep him warm enough.

When we're all home for Xmas we'll add a 3rd half hour heating slot.

Pepsipepsi · 07/12/2022 21:11

I honestly can't believe in 2022 that people are living like I did in the 90s. Child of a mentally unwell single mother on benefits who could only afford to heat one room.
I wouldn't wish the worry, discomfort and inevitable ill health on anyone. I hate this government and greedy energy bosses who have allowed this to happen. :(

BMW6 · 09/12/2022 14:15

19, quite comfortable.

Hospital2022 · 09/12/2022 14:47

Mines 14.5 no heating on yet

Athenen0ctua · 09/12/2022 14:57

8.5 Don't want to put heating on until certain I'm in for the evening.

dementedma · 09/12/2022 15:02

About 14 but starting to feel chilly as the sun sets. Will put it on for a couple of hours at 4pm

FourChimneys · 09/12/2022 15:11

16.8 here.

Wronglane · 09/12/2022 15:12

20.6. They advise under 18 is unhealthy to live in.

NewBootsAndRanty · 09/12/2022 15:17

21

Lillipops · 09/12/2022 15:18

Our boiler has packed in so it's currently 10c it's Baltic! Both working from home, eagerly awaiting the gas engineer to come to the rescue.

OnNaturesCourse · 09/12/2022 15:22

It will have fallen to 15 in my house since I've been out. I can't let it fall lower or it takes too long to reheat in the evening.

Overnight it falls to 10 and is baltic. Young DC and I have taken to breakfast in bed whole the house heats up.

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 09/12/2022 15:25

I'm trying not to let mine drop under 17. I have a chronic pain condition that's exacerbated by the cold so I need to stay warm otherwise my life isn't worth living.

Darcy101 · 09/12/2022 15:31

18.5

CosyWintersNight · 09/12/2022 15:35

Our boiler decided to not work this morning so our house is currently at 8C. It's usually around 13C unless I put the heating on for a bit
