floatinginmyhomie · 12/12/2021 20:32

Can I please join you?

AdoraBell · 12/12/2021 20:43

floating yes, everyone is welcome here.

Slightly spendy day here, DH spent a little over £250 in B&Q, I spent £12.15 in Morrison’s. Only went in breakfast items then saw bags of Christmas treats for the local food bank, so that added £4 to my bill. Then had pub lunch, £30-ish. That’s got to stop.

Mrsmadevans · 12/12/2021 23:13

@floatinginmyhomie welcome , just join in lovely Smile
@AdoraBell that was slightly spendy in B&Q , although we have just had a fence put up and it was £550 with materials , it all adds up Hmm
Em well done on the second rosette! Excellent ! Star
Gen hopefully you will both stay well and actually may even enjoy your confinement Flowers

moimichme · 13/12/2021 07:23

Welcome floating - what are your goals or what do you need help with for your finances?

Gen so good to hear you're both feeling all right at least! Take it easy.

Em congratulations, second place is amazing!!

Mrs We ought to get a fake tree, really, but I always had a real one growing up and the smell is so lovely. Smile £63 incl delivery for it (7 feet tall, but quite narrow at the base so it fits in our tiny house!).

Got the Monday blahs. Must get moving. Hope you all have a good day.

Mrsmadevans · 13/12/2021 19:11

Moi hnestly you just can't beat a real treee it takes me back to when l was a child , we always had a real tree . I think it is money well spent good on you Xmas Smile
NSD for me today , well not strictly true Grin just remembered l spent 60 on George in the clothes sale Xmas Grin

AdoraBell · 13/12/2021 20:18

I didn’t see your post em, sorry. Well done on the second place 😄

More spends today 🤦‍♀️ £8 in local shop, ham, veg and chocolate. I really wanted pasta with broccoli and blue cheese for dinner, the only veg not available was broccoli. Them we went to get keys cut, entrance of Morrison’s, so I spent another £2.50 on bread and, yes, broccoli 😄 dinner was lush. DH spent £30 on keys and about £10 more, washing machine hose wasn’t long enough.

Glad you are both feeling okay Gen

AdoraBell · 13/12/2021 20:21

Oops, forgot to say I transferred £8 to DD1 because I collected up all the loose change in her room to use Big Issue and similar donations.

ememem84 · 14/12/2021 06:13

We have a real tree. When we lived in the flat we had no storage for a fake one. I love a real tree.

Mrsmadevans · 14/12/2021 15:01

NSD for me today and about time too Xmas Grin
Got to do the rest of the presents then am in a good place fingers crossed nothing rears it's ugly head ! Xmas Grin

floatinginmyhomie · 14/12/2021 16:07

Thank you😊.
@moimichme I need to pay off some debt, it isn’t a huge amount but I’m guilty of using the money I’ve put aside to pay that off to get other things instead🤦🏻‍♀️. I’m also hoping to start saving more and monitoring what I spend as we’ve just welcomed DC2 so a bit more cash strapped that usual.
We have a real christmas tree but it’s only tiny because our home is only 7 foot wide and just over 6 foot tall😂.
NSD

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/12/2021 17:02

Pay it straight to the debt when you have it, unless you are stopping getting into more debt by using that money

marthasmum · 14/12/2021 20:15

Welcome floating do you live on a boat? There are some near me and I always think how cosy they look. I’m with you on frittering away the savings, I need to get on top of this next year. I’ve realised my problem is boundaries - I make plans and have pots for spending but don’t stick to them. Which is me in life too Grin
em well done on the rosette, good to have something for you.
mrs and adora you sound like me on the spending. I’m nearly there thank goodness. Same problem again - made a budget but didn’t stick to it. I also find when I’m spending the Xmas budget I tend to think ‘oh sod it’ on other spends and splash out on other stuff too.
Starting to get a bit twitched about omicron now. My DDad is pretty vulnerable and Dmum wants us all to avoid social contact for the week before we meet. I’m reluctant as have a few things planned for the kids. But…
Talking of DDads we haven’t heard from
unescorted. I wonder how things are going . Hope she is ok.

Lovemaltesers · 14/12/2021 20:59

Welcome floating, I was intrigued by the size of your house until I properly read your username

Booking booster has been a pain. Originally got an early Jan appointment, then saw I could get an earlier one so cancelled it, then the booking system overloaded. Finally got one booked again for 7am 😱 straight after Christmas.

I hope you are feeling ok gen Flowers

Flowers And unescorted too

floatinginmyhomie · 14/12/2021 21:00

@lifelongfrugaleer we won’t go into more debt by paying the other debt off, I’m just guilty of going shopping and seeing stuff that we don’t really need but using debt money to get it anyway. Putting it straight in is a great tip thank you.
@marthasmum I do☺️. It’s the only way we could afford our own home but I couldn’t go back to bricks and mortar now. I’m exactly the same with boundaries, it’s my New Years resolution to get on top of that.

marthasmum · 14/12/2021 21:31

Well that’s good floating we can inspire each other. Being accountable to the thread is helpful.

AdoraBell · 14/12/2021 22:15

Alfiemoon1 · 14/12/2021 22:37

Welcome floating. Evening all hope you are all well. Spends today £17 in Morrisons £16 kfc for lunch as had a scan at the hospital regarding my problem periods need to ring the gp for results in a few days £2.50 parking at the hospital

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/12/2021 07:01

What kind of debt? Are you on the lowest rate? If it’s a credit card do you know the standing order trick?

I have zero money boundaries I feel a resolution coming on.

Went shopping with dd and spent nothing but she knows what she is getting her pals now

northender · 15/12/2021 07:03

Welcome floating lots of support & encouragement here and no judging.
Em well done on the second prize
Gen hope you and dh continue to be ok with covid & get to NI for Christmas, you deserve a break.
moi did you get the real tree?
Have had a spendy past few days. Real tree bought & decorated, almost all presents bought now.
Took my dad to his physio appt on Monday & was a bit shocked by how frail he is underneath his farmer exterior. Think I've got a challenging time ahead with him & mum.
Feeling so sick of covid and all the related stuff now. Nothing can be properly planned or looked forward to.
Dh did his tax return yesterday & we have money to pay. He has just tipped over into the child benefit threshold so paying some of that back and he was paid for some unused annual leave when he changed job last year, but not taxed properly . We knew he would have to pay something so had budgeted for it, but not quite enough.
Pub quiz with friends tonight.

I am going to sulk I had a lovely post full of heartfelt comments to make up for falling off the thread. My phone rang and I lost it all.

Oh and I had my booster today... I feel the dressing gown of doom might get an appearance (I am fine I just don't fancy doing the dinner or washing up)

OP posts:
moimichme · 15/12/2021 20:23

north Yes, we did get a real tree. The wee one and I decorated while listening to Christmas songs, with lots of ornaments that he made and some others. A very unique look! But we had fun.

Unescorted I've had my booster today as well. So far I don't feel too bad - was fine the last time, so fingers crossed! Also hope your ddad is okay.

Some complicated political crap happening at my work this week. Can't wait until I'm on leave starting Monday to look after ds on my own while DH is still wfh for a few more days.

Happierwithouthim · 15/12/2021 20:24

€64.47 in Dunnes after using €10 off spend & save voucher. Happy with what I got & I treated myself to pop tarts & mutti tomatoes Grin

Very little Christmas shopping done here, the big man is sorted & nothing else. I've the money just not the interest.

You’re not the only one *@Happierwithouthim*, we’re not having Christmas this year (adult DCs) simply because I have had a hideous year and cba. No cards written, presents bought, decorations put up and even better no sodding Christmas tree! I feel quite chilled and not missing the hassle one bit.
