He is vile and unhinged woke to a message from him this morning he is going to buy dd a car I’ve not even read the full text and certainly not replied I presume he is planning on using the money he gets from the puppies he is now advertising for sale which explains dd texts to dh asking about parvo symptoms a week ago which she said was just research. Hope it works out for him because if dd says she needs money for food it won’t be cash I will be sending it will be either a trip to the supermarket or an online shop delivered I am not funding this

I don’t know if I have done the right thing I sent dd an email saying i would love to see her or call her to try and sort things out but I don’t want to communicate by text as I can’t have a private conversation with her anymore without him replying not mentioned but I don’t want to engage with him I have blocked his number I’ve had threats from his equally unhinged mother not to communicate with him which I don’t want to but he replies to my private messages to my dd after my response to him about me being adopted he threatened to tell his mum ffs he’s 26 it’s like dealing with the mafia I told dh who is the most chilled out person ever and he’s fuming has typed out texts to dd if her boyfriend ever threatens me or sends me hurtful text he will break his neck he’s not sent it but he is at the ends of his tether now he’s all for cutting her off. Finished off the email all gushing that I love her miss her will always be here for her even if I don’t always agree with her choices or behaviour and that I am extremely worried about her stressing now it sounds like a goodbye email but will follow it up in a few days asking how she is and how university is going

Sounds a really difficult situation @Alfiemoon1 - I think you are doing all you can. Make it plain you lover her but don't enable the BF

Flu jab at Tesco yesterday - free because of my age (it's over 50 in Wales) and £7.50 on specialist shampoo,

marthasmum · 17/11/2021 06:15

Agree with granny alfie. It’s really tough isn’t it because a feature of abusive relationships is the woman being isolated from friends and family. And you don’t want that. But also as granny says, don’t want to enable him. How would you feel about just turning up to see her if she doesn’t get back to you - just so she knows you’ve really got her back, and aren’t going anywhere?

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/11/2021 07:21

Definitely keep the lines of communication open with dd even if she doesn’t reply because one day she will.
Turning up at the house may be trouble for her if he is abusing her however work and Uni I would say are fair game

Happierwithouthim · 17/11/2021 09:39

Ooo a skip. Enjoy the clear out

Unescorted · 17/11/2021 19:23

Hey happier I was thinking if you earlier.

Alfie the follow up email sounds a plan. It has the advantage of letting them both know that you aren't going anywhere. How would her uni respond to reports of welfare issues. I am sure they can't give you any info, but they might keep an eye on her if they know of your concerns.

The salmon has worked. Slightly salty, but tastes good.

Gensola · 18/11/2021 06:59

I’ve also been absent as IVF has slightly taken over my life again! Currently on the two week wait to find out if my embryos have stuck - test day is 27 Nov!
DH and I have been sticking more or less to our budget - in the summer I was able to get to a local zero waste fridge that collects fresh food from supermarkets that would go into the bin, sort of like a food bank but aimed more at stopping waste, and that was making such a huge difference to our food bills as I’d go twice a week to pick up any veg or fruit and bread they had going. But it’s slightly evened out with us both getting free lunch at work (we both work in education) and also being out 7am- 6/7pm each day has meant energy bills are lower even with the price increase.
My family have mercifully said no gifts this year as we are all going to Spain together (covid willing) for Xmas week so we are all just going to buy for the two kids coming, that is a huge help.
We don’t buy for DH sisters as he had stopped doing that years ago and neither of them celebrates Xmas (one is Wiccan and the other is Buddhist!).
We have managed to whittle our CC debt down from £7k to £2.5 - most of that was debt from IVF drugs and from accommodation and clothes for my brother’s funeral in 2020. We got stuck in Ireland and had to pay £800 to extend the holiday let.

Hoping to be CC debt free soon - then we will decide what to do next - I have a 7k bank loan (IVF again) but it’s a fixed term and low interest so I might just let it run to term, rather than trying to pay it off early.
I also have about £6k left on my student loan but I think paying that off early isn’t advised.

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/11/2021 07:29

Sounds super frugal gen. that’s a great chunk to pay down.
Praying for a good outcome this time

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/11/2021 18:33

Have you all seen Amazon are not accepting visa cc from next year. Could turn out very frugal

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/11/2021 20:44

I’ve just spent £££ in the gymshark sale

ememem84 · 18/11/2021 21:10

Also been missing. Life has got in the way.

Today £65 hygienist and my mouth still hurts. Clearly I don’t brush my teeth as well as I should. Very very pokey. Ow.

£54 dinner Bella italia. We took the kids to see the Christmas lights switch on in town. Skipped the Santa parade in favour of dinner (pre booked) but left just in time to see the fireworks. Yay.

£119 gymshark sale. Yay. I did need gym stuff so replaced my two pairs of leggings and tops. Also got a sports bra. And new leggings for dsis for Christmas.

An update to my last post. I made the tomato and 60 clove garlic soup. God it was good. Like so so so yum. We had it for dinner on Monday night. Tuesday morning I had a client meeting via zoom. Me and the boss in our meeting room. “Can you smell garlic?” He asked me. I explained. He made me sit on the other side of the room. 😂 (he hadn’t been told about my soup so it wasn’t even him being funny!!)

Tummy went a bit grumbly yesterday and this morning though. Suspect after effects of garlic.

Rubbish week at work here it’s always a bad week when you work out the “best” day to give a exactly a months notice

Trying to get the motivation to go out Christmas shopping today. Considering having a day snuggled in bed watching the telly instead.

Fearofawelshplanet · 19/11/2021 19:36

Good luck Gen, well done happier. Week from hell, beginning to wonder who I have upset in previous life. At least it's been frugal. I am eeking out my 115 pound for food and general survival (a bit of gas & electric) until the 30th November. Put my Christmas tree up today and the lights. It's fun, it's free and I need the cheer, happy Friday everyone!

northender · 19/11/2021 21:43

Have had a good week although have felt slightly under the weather for most of it. Big birthday celebrations went well last weekend, I'm officially an old gimmer now! Loads of money spent but worth it and planned for.
Need to get back on the straight & narrow now, but it's dd's birthday next week and then Christmas.....

grannycake · 20/11/2021 05:18

Life is hard for everyone at them minute, been for a lovely walk in the lovely woods today and I might have a sleep. NSD Here! Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Wolfcub · 20/11/2021 14:31

I may have bought myself a new kindle in the sale as my screen is smashed to bits. And a big pan with a lid. And a salt and pepper mill as I don't have them. La la la la la. Confiscate my bank card

ememem84 · 20/11/2021 16:38

Took ds to yoga today. He loved it. Proper kid friendly yoga. Yay.

Then hot chocolate after.

DH shouted this morning because all his clothes were either dirty or smelled bad (because as instructed after washing And drying I’d left them in the garage in a basket and the garage is damp). So we had to go into town (al of us. “Family time” and watch him buy new clothes. I said it would be tedious. I said it’d be a nightmare trying to control two toddlers. I was right. But we dutifully stood behind him the entire time.
