Ah ha.

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/04/2021 20:41

Just google it thanks
I've heard good things about green people one but not heard of the others.

Mrsmadevans · 20/04/2021 20:58

Born thank you that is so kind of you and yes it's very hard , not physically but mentally it's really draining. Your Aunt is really lucky to have you look after her , it's not the easiest of things for you to juggle with everything else you have to do Flowers
I knew there were plastic beads in Sunscreen but l didn't connect the dots re the environment l don't know where l have been with this Hmm just gone over my head , not that l will be using any atm with the pollen count so high.

maddenlightfoot · 20/04/2021 21:00

I love Aldi sun cream - the aerosol spray one is brilliant for fast moving children (but now I'm wondering how awful it probably is for the environment 😢)

I've been decorating today. Just painting our bedroom and have so far used only stuff we already had (white paint, rollers etc) so feeling frugally virtuous!

ememem84 · 20/04/2021 22:29

With a lot of things I worry for the environment - I switched from make up wipes to reuseables, I buy bigger bottles of stuff where I can to reduce plastic waste. We hardly waste any food. We compost stuff. That’s just the small things.

But sunscreen. I hadn’t even considered it’s be bas for the environment. I’d be more concerned about sun damage to skin though. So....not that I don’t care. But. I’ll remember for next year!

Payday tomorrow. Once I get my payslip I’m absolutely going to work out a personal spends budget. and actually stick to it this time

northender · 20/04/2021 23:27

We use ultrasun here too. I think the last batch we bought was after a big discount tip off from someone on here. Will look into the micro plastics next time.
Born great that your ds has got the apprenticeship. We have missed the disinterested teen stage too, not sure how!
Good luck with the head hunting unescorted, hope you get what you want
Another busy work day here, no spends

AmberItsACertainty · 21/04/2021 00:45

£161 supermarket.

That actually makes sense about sunscreen because it's not like a moisturizer you feel like you're covered in a thin layer of cling film sort of. It doesn't quite sink in. Don't fancy skin cancer though. There's a limit to how much I can worry about and I think I'm going to have to let this one go. I sometimes think I can't win no matter what I do. We're all trying so hard not to die, yet polluting our food and killing the planet on which we live. I can't think about it more than that or my brain starts to disintegrate.

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/04/2021 07:13

I use ultrasun as my skin burns easily
Yesterday for example.
I do lots now for the environment I'm not giving up sunscreen I don't think. Also also for sharing and D's
It was probably me re ultrasun as QVC do special day around may time where it's far cheaper.

Surprise shopping deliver yesterday £54. Need to pay trombone £85 and £25 DD lesson.

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/04/2021 07:14

No idea what that middle sentence is. Also Aldi for DS and DH was what it was meant to say

Unescorted · 21/04/2021 08:44

It you want to reduce sun cream use - wear a long sleeved shirt and long trousers / skirt. I use cream on my face but am usually covered up for the rest. I was heavily influenced by the Slip Slop Slap ad campaign of the 80s.

It is very quiet here. Ds has been lovely - the first thing he did yesterday when he came through the door was give me a huge hug.

ememem84 · 21/04/2021 10:03

I swing between covering up and baring all in the sun. Maxi dresses with long sleeves and a hat or short shorts and bikini tops!

Bornlazy · 21/04/2021 12:14

I have low vit d so I make sure I have some sunscreen free exposure to the sun whenever it's warm enough. It's easier to do that in this country than abroad so I don't tend to go through so much here. I also can't tolerate really warm weather I am fascinated by people who can lie for hours on sun loungers basking in the sun. I always end up in the shade with a beer reading.

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/04/2021 12:15

Me too em. I always need my neck full slipped too as no clothes cover that

Wolfcub · 21/04/2021 12:51

I have the difficult balance of being low vit d but also the kind of colouring that burns in thick cloud

Hi all thanks for welcoming me back. We’re all on the mend now. Yesterday spent £10 in a record shop. NSD so far today!.

Sorry about your hayfever mrs I’ve got it quite bad this year too, but I’d never really had it before last year. Hope you’re feeling a bit better💐

amber I have an awful attention span too I always forget what I’m meant to say to you all😂

Sorry about the early wake up born! Good luck to your DS though, DH is an electrician, how is he finding it?

Enjoy your visit with DM up!

I make my own sunscreen, it works really well for us.

It’s a bit overcast and windy here, so we’ve just come back home instead of going out. DD has fed the ducks for the first time, she’s usually a bit apprehensive about feeding them but she wanted to today. She won’t come inside because she wants to keep an eye on them😂

Ah I love getting sun and I'm not the most fastidious with sun cream I must admit Blush I don't burn easily so I often forget about it but I know that still doesn't mean I'm not going to get skin cancer and there's the ageing effects of it too. Must be better Blush. Always make sure DD is absolutely slathered in it though but she has similar skin to me, olive coloured and tans straight away (actually darker and quicker than mine tbh). I love wearing shorts and t-shirts in the summer, with my sensory issues I struggle all winter having to wear loads of layers which rub on each other and things I am so relieved when I can wear less!

NSD. Felt very nauseous this morning but my driving lesson was ok with some cola cubes in my mouth. Did the higher speed/country lane route which I absolutely hate but it wasn't so bad to be honest. Got stuck behind some slow cars for some of it, I hope that happens on my test Grin I still feel stressed driving over 40 despite zillions of lessons.

Gensola · 21/04/2021 15:08

Not an NSD as about to have botox which is £££ but no unplanned spends.
Feeling ropey after a few drinks last night, drowning my sorrows at another failed round of IVF. Need an early night tonight and into a new routine!
meadow I learned to drive when I was 30, a few years ago, and I am still quite a nervous driver but I have definitely built up confidence by using the car more and not making DH do all the driving Grin

Unescorted · 21/04/2021 15:39

Aww Gen I am so sorry. I am not surprised you had a few. It must be so hard to go through that every couple of months.

I drove into Manckychester the other day and it was scary the way everyone was driving. Me included. It was as if everyone had forgotten the rules of the road.

ememem84 · 21/04/2021 16:10

£29.62 nails. Usually £39.50 but had a full loyalty card so 25% off.

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/04/2021 16:15

True unescorted. There is some scary driving going on
It was much nicer when the roads were empty

SnugglySnerd · 21/04/2021 18:07

So sorry Gen Flowers

I agree about covering up in the sun. I hate the feeling of sun cream on my skin so tend to cover up as much as possible rather than keep applying it. Obviously use it on the dcs though. perhaps we should all just be challenging the suncream cream brands on their ingredients!

Nsd.

marthasmum · 21/04/2021 18:16

Sorry too to hear your news gen I can’t imagine how tough that is.
I’m pretty rubbish with the sun cream, buy the cheapest and sometimes forget to reapply. Influenced by being a child of the 70s when we all burned but I know that’s not right. unescorted I’ve noticed I’ve lost driving confidence now I’m no longer commuting, I’ve been driving for years so I hope it’s going to return.
I made everyone eat up all the dodgy cupboard/ freezer food and then finally went shopping - £121 which is pretty good as that topped up the store cupboards with basics for the month plus fresh stuff for a week. Veg box £30 and meat from the butcher £25 or so on top though. Counted up and £35 of that was snack food of some description so that’s the problem right there Blush. Plus my conflict between saving money/ trying to shop ethically where I can...

Wolfcub · 21/04/2021 18:17

So sorry Gen Thanks

Unescorted exciting being headhunted.

I agree re driving. People seem to have forgotten how to do it

Meant to say ships love the ducks, are they your pets? I would love chickens but our garden isn’t big enough

ememem84 · 21/04/2021 21:34

Oh gen I’m so sorry take care of you xxx
