Happy birthday fear

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/02/2021 07:00

I'm a proper sporner. I'm so in the wrong job.
Halloumi curry sounds interesting do report back.
DD has you wrapped round her first her em

CurlsandCurves · 24/02/2021 09:13

Happy birthday, Fear!

@lifelongfrugaleer I’m a sporner too! Love a good YouTube video to chill out too. Dr P, Enilsa Brown, Josefa Reina, etc. And I found a new guy literally yesterday called MrPopZit, lol.

Weekly shop done yesterday, still costing a fortune due to the boys being at home. I know the cost will only be displaced when they go back to school and I give them dinner money instead, but at least I won’t have so much to buy and cram into the fridge and cupboards.

Got a nail appt booked for April. I did have a hair appt but then lockdown happened. But I paid for it in order to get on the priority list, so should be hearing from her soon. I’ve not had a haircut since last July!

SingToTheSky · 24/02/2021 09:47

Belated happy birthday fear! 🎂💐

I had a little lie in this morning since apparently I’m not meant to do the nursery run now Confused. Just had the phone call about the volunteer role and all sounds great. 7 three hour zoom training sessions though 😬 I’ve only really had one to one things on zoom before, other than my practical assessment for the counselling skills course I did last year which was 3 people. 😂 It sounds like a great role though and really what I need in terms of building up some experience for a future career.

ememem84 · 24/02/2021 10:48

sing that sounds so good! well done you!

life yep - dd's got us all wrapped around just where she wants us. ds is a goner too. he's under her spell.

paid the jumpers off my credit card so now back to zero balance.

i have two beauticians appointments now. one next tuesday for nails (hurrah) and one the week after for waxing. you takes what you are given now and then book up for the next 4 months or so....thats the plan anyway!

ememem84 · 24/02/2021 13:24

£4.01 at post office posting an eBay parcel. and £.195 coop on organic coconut oil nappy rash cream. nursery ran out of cream for dd and asked for non medicated cream.

this was the only one i could find.

i'm going to take sudocrem too with me when i go to pick the kiddos up though. as i'm sure that's what they've been using...

SnugglySnerd · 24/02/2021 15:43

That sounds brilliant sing (the volunteering, not the shielding).

Have had 2 sleepless nights in a row. Combination strong wind outside, being uncomfortable and dds waking me up for various reasons. It's starting to catch up with me now. Really hope everyone sleeps tonight!

Making quesadillas for tea.

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/02/2021 17:08

£8 posting back exam paper, think I can expense it.
Aldi later.

£240 deposit for holiday Easter 2022.

Great news sing.
Boo on lack of sleep. Hope today is better

Lovemaltesers · 24/02/2021 18:18

My Ddad is having an op tomorrow to fit a pacemaker. Apparently there are risks with doing the op, but not doing it would give him very little time Sad

We’ve made it through day 3 of homeschool while I self isolate. 2 more days to go!! Honestly, I really lucked out being a keyworker, I don’t know how parents have done weeks on end of this! My home covid test kits are coming up with negative results which is reassuring too.

Tightwad2020 · 24/02/2021 18:34

Sporner here too. Very ashamed of self. DS' (thankfully, mild) acne has been a daily challenge to me, and I haven't always kept my hands to myself. He's quite annoyed with me atm as I persuaded him to let me tackle a crop of stubborn blackheads, and it wasn't an unmiitigated success. In my defence, I have been tireless in the pursuit of good skincare, and he gets a better class of product than I ever buy for myself.

Oh, I am so desperate to spend some money! the new paint on the doors is looking great, but the house so needs lots of lovely stuff on the walls. I am combing websites for affordable prints and textiles, nagging DS to identify pieces of his own that he'd like to hang, and expect to devote every spare penny this year to getting stuff framed. I have ordered some dye to renovate an old blanket (frugal!) and, less frugally, some lovely lining paper for the linen cupboard. Not expensive in itself, but it's coming from Canada, so the shipping costs are high relative to the cost of the item.

How are people feeling about the roadmap out of lockdown?

Unescorted · 24/02/2021 18:37

Love my mum had one fitted earlier this year. She is alive and kicking - I think they do a lot of them so they know what they are doing.

Sing that sounds amazing. It will be great to speak to new people Grin

I couldn't home school - ds has been left to fend for himself. We meet at the kettle.

Unescorted · 24/02/2021 18:41

Tight I threaten to hang up DD's primary school portfolio. She offers up a better selection.

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/02/2021 19:42

Oh DD has some awesome blacks and white heads. I have to teach her not to squeeze.

Road map, not sure. I hope it is the last one but not sure

Gensola · 24/02/2021 20:19

tight my mum once woke me up as she had snuck in on me sleeping to try and squeeze a very large blackhead!! I was not impressed

CamdenLurker · 24/02/2021 21:14

I can't recommend Paulas Choice BHA 2% liquid exfoliate enough for teenage skin, dd2 is the only one of my four that has suffered with Acne, this stuff really keeps it down and he skin is better than it's ever been.

I kind of spent £13 in M&S today, I had a voucher so I did t use any actual money - but I guess it still Counts.

Fil had a letter in the post today to tell him that the COVID test he had on 7 January was positive, unbelievable! I'm actually shocked, why bother?? They said sorry about this, but don't worry you don't need to isolate as it's been too long now.

Long day at work today, spent a tenner on lunch, so £23 including the M&S stuff, spent a while looking at holidays this afternoon- can't wait to be able to travel
Again.

Not long until the weekend, and payday 💰

Wolfcub · 24/02/2021 21:16

Just to enable everyone - mini malteaster bunnies are amazing

SnugglySnerd · 24/02/2021 21:35

Payday Camden! I have lost track of the dates so much I hadn't realised it's this Friday until you just mentioned it. I was thinking it was next week. Hooray! That's rubbish about your dad's covid test though.

In bed already!

SingToTheSky · 24/02/2021 21:39

That’s an insane amount of time camden did they give any explanation as to why?!

Thanks for all the nice comments re the volunteering. Slowly slowly the plan is coming together.

Camhs appt for DS tomorrow. Only taken 2-3y to get one, I’m well aware this is good going 😬

Mrsmadevans · 24/02/2021 23:01

Am so tired tonight and tomorrow have to take Mum To the dentist again. So an early rise tomorrow. Am just reading through and saw Love that your DDad is having a pacemaker fitted l just wanted to send you a great big hug and the very best wishes for your Dad's op bless you sweetheart 💐
While l am at it am sending everyone a great big hug just because you're absolutely lovely ❤️💐

Unescorted · 25/02/2021 06:52

Thanks Mrs I need hugs today.

Gen that is weird! No wonder you were not impressed.

Camden that is worrying - how many people with missing test results thought that they were OK to go out and about because they hadn't heard.

We still don't have community testing here - our nearest centre is 13 miles away or in the next county. Neither of which are considered "local". Or local rates have seen a 150% increase over the last few days which is worrying. I have had a tickly cough and sore chest, but don't know if I should take a risk and drive to the nearest community test centre or lie to the NHS app and say I have a temperature as well as the cough. Or do I just leave it and assume I am ok. Moral dilemma of the day.

Fearofawelshplanet · 25/02/2021 06:56

Thank you everyone for the lovely messages!
Will catch up on thread tonight after work
£5.85 in co op yday

Today it begins! Credit card paid down (£700 ...sob) £484 for month, no spends....challenge accepted I am now going to be frugal and save for moving for 12 months. You wonderful lot inspire and support me on this thread, so thank you all!

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/02/2021 07:03

A cough is a symptom to get a test. I got one with a cough as my main symptoms. (-ve)

Love, hope the op goes well. Seems quite routine for the medics but not you guys I appreciate

Tired today, my turn to not sleep.
Aldi today for Friday dinner for pil and odd and sods to make meals from cupboard.

(((((Hugs)))))

SnugglySnerd · 25/02/2021 07:06

Unescorted I'd be inclined to lie to the app I think and get a test, just to be on the safe side. That increase in cases is worrying. I am sure the return to school is going to cause another surge and undo all the good work of lockdown.

I hope the CAMHS appointment goes well sing.

Today should be nsd.

northender · 25/02/2021 07:19

Will keep fingers crossed for your dad today love
Work has been crazy & stressful this week, but just half a day today & then off until Tuesday.
Dh has not been allowed to carry over his AL balance to his new gov dept (started in Oct) so is having to put a claim in to the old dept to be paid for it which would be a nice sum, but I think they will put up a fight.
Assessment arrangements are apparently going to be announced for GCSEs & A levels today. It sounds like they'll be finishing school in mid June, results mid August as usual.

northender · 25/02/2021 07:20

Halloumi curry was mentioned down thread, my mum made that a while back & said it was good
