snuggly I thought it was good scene setting, but not sure how long it can keep going for!
life that is pricey
unescorted I have exciting sourdough news!! I'm 5 days in and have the liveliest starter ever, feel like I want to bake now, but am going to follow the instructions & be ready to bake Thursday morning.
Amber I was going to say the same as Mrs if you're talking about retirement you're also talking menopause, so enjoy your youth!

Had a busy day here but no spends. Have been sorting out our loft room which has gone well. Ordered some "Really useful" boxes for stuff. They will arrive tomorrow. At least I have been a bit productive with my time off, I've tackled the loft room and two drawers of doom in the kitchen. Have also picked up with reading again and am enjoying my third book of the year, also done some crochet, but no quilting so need to get back on with that.
Not looking forward to work tomorrow but I do feel better and hopefully more able to cope with things now.

North it is so satisfying when you get a good starter. The parts I found difficult was
-the stickiness of the dough. I find using a wet scraper to do the mixing, stretching and shaping is easiest.

  • shaping. It has to be really tight & I found it helpful to watch videos on dough shaping.
  • getting it out of what ever I have used to hold it for the 2nd rise. If you have a Banneton it has to be really well floured. Again a specific Google helped here. All the Sourdough for Beginners videos I watched did a dainty little scatter of flour before putting the dough in. In reality you need to spray the basket with water and coat with large amounts of flour. Don't clean it in between uses and do a heavy dusting with wholemeal flour.

I am on holiday all week - yay!

ememem84 · 22/03/2021 08:24

I need to check on my starter. I have a feeling it’s died again.

The dgod has made an appearance.

The dc are going to dparents today and I’m wfh (upstairs so as not to disturb the dgod). Have to go and get milk in a bit and will fill up the car as well.

The dgod has used all the remaining milk on his coffee and weetabix.

Unescorted · 22/03/2021 08:42

They come back from looking very dead. I didn't feed mine for months and managed to coax it back to life . Tip off the black manky liquid on the surface and then feed it over a couple of days and see if there is any sign of life.

That is rude to no leave a splash of milk for everyone.

ememem84 · 22/03/2021 08:56

Have had a productive morning so far though. Run/walk up to 6090 steps so far.
Picked the meat off the chicken and have started the stock
Washing in dryer and another load on
Dishwasher emptied and reloaded
Filled up the car and bought 5l milk £45 together.

Now to work.

Mrsmadevans · 22/03/2021 11:09

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/03/2021 11:19

Glorious spring day here. Off work to not move. DS off with a migraine.
£10 at shops.
£103 bike rack for car. £198 lost rental deposit, £200 extended storage fees.

ememem84 · 22/03/2021 15:02

Ouch life

I caved and spent on feel unique. Damm their marketing emails.

£22.35 on two clarins products. It was over £40 originally. But I got 17% off because of their special promotion where you spin the wheel and win a discount. And I had 3 £5 vouchers. Plus gift with purchase. So I’ve done quite well.

Happierwithouthim · 22/03/2021 15:20

Sounds like you did well em

I bought dd jodhpurs and riding socks today €24.79 She goes weekly but her jodhpurs are bobbly from being washed and a little tight on the belly too, she's almost 11 so puppy fat, and she's now got the moods and stroppiness to go with the hormones GrinHmm

life what's happened with move?

I've been missing from thread but not because I'm overspending just busy

Mrsmadevans · 22/03/2021 16:03

has dd tried riding tights?

i bought a pair last summer and they are so comfy. and cooler too. heat wise not like cool points wise. i have literally zero cool points. haha

SingToTheSky · 22/03/2021 16:58

Finished form this morning, DH got it posted signed for etc. Have rewarded myself with watching line of duty :o

DH just had his jab.

Happierwithouthim · 22/03/2021 17:06

No em she hasn't complained about the jodhpurs and won't wear regular tights at all so I'd be apprehensive about trying anything with the word tights in it for her!!!

course you're cool em you're a yummy mummy

mrsmadevans I buy fresh flowers every three weeks or so in aldi and they cheer me up no end

ememem84 · 22/03/2021 17:55

More like leggings really happier. They’re good though.

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/03/2021 18:06

DD likes her riding tights in the summer. Wears them to death.

Mrsmadevans · 22/03/2021 18:15

Well done Sing re the form & great news re Dh's stabby jabby 🤗
Em & life the riding tights look much more comfy than joddies.
Happier l didn't realise how much they lift our mood . I will be doing that too thanks for giving me the idea ☀️😀👏

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/03/2021 18:28

Yes great news on the stabby jabby. Hope no side affects for him

ememem84 · 22/03/2021 19:41

I’ve begun my nightly bedtime battle.

I’m in with dd. Dh is downstairs. Ds is playing up. Catface keeps wandering between their rooms Shes such a wind up!!!!

Dd keeps almost nodding off then either catface disturbs her or she farts and wakes herself up. Ffs.

northender · 22/03/2021 20:01

Em I remember those days well. Now I bemoan the fact that they often go to bed after us and at the moment we rarely get any time to ourselves!
Sing hope dh is okay with the jab
First day back wasn't great but I handled it better I think. I stood my ground when I needed to and didn't get emotional. It isn't great when you can tell that a manager is getting tired of you repeating the same things and definitely looking on you as a troublemaker. I am confident in what I am staying and happy to keep standing my ground though and so my professional integrity will be intact, but my chances of progression in this organisation may well have gone up in smoke. Hey ho. I can live with that.

Mrsmadevans · 22/03/2021 20:08

Em we went through hell with our 2 Dds. In the end, just to get some sleep we slept , all 4 of us, in a king size bed . It was the only way the Dds would sleep through. Dd2 used to make herself sick from crying if we left her in her own bed ........every night , it was hell Hmm
They changed when they got to 3 & 4 & went into their own beds thank God Grin

Mrsmadevans · 22/03/2021 20:09

North that sounds so unfair for you lovely Flowers

Lovemaltesers · 22/03/2021 21:11

Flowers north

em Do you take it in turns with which child you put to bed each night? We divide and conquer so the DC accept either of us at bedtime, admittedly there were some rough nights weeks. Tonight I put DD1 to bed, yesterday DD2 and so on.

Lovemaltesers · 22/03/2021 21:24

It appears I’m not a Dgod-er then as I don’t shuffle. And I still do housework.

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/03/2021 06:01

Oh dear North. Good for you for keeping your integrity

Unescorted · 23/03/2021 06:38

North that sucks. Well done on remaining calm. I suspect when I get to that point I will burst into tears. You know that you are amazing. Flowers

Love house work is not possible while wearing DGoD. It is like a reverse cloak of invisibility - you literally can't see it. Grin

I do not miss problematic bedtimes. We got through it by having wildly different bedtimes for me and DH - I sleep early so DH had the responsibility from 8-3ish. After that I am able to get up and go to sleep really quickly again so I got the 3-6 possibly broken sleep (and to wake me they had to shout the house down) . Then from 6ish onwards they were mine until I went to work. It meant we both got a good chunk of sleep. Although I must be a boring parent because from an early age they did not like mornings. I have never told DH that I got a good 7-8 hours every single night.

Today is my happy stabby jabby day. I have it all mapped out to get dinner to the point of throw it a a wok so I can have a tuck up and feel rough day tomorrow. Even if I am side effect free I will make use of the DGod.
