They’ve already “done” the work

SingToTheSky · 18/03/2021 13:23

Nearly fell off thread!

Isolating as of today, Cagletini had 3 high temp readings at nursery (she was fine this morning). Sigh. Test ordered. Phoned school, they aren’t sure if they need to send DD1 home (negative LFTs).

Also have been given an appt with universal credit, I’m assuming this is because Cagletini is now the age where I have to work. At least I have a lot to tell them about what I’m doing to get back into work in the long term (I’ve done courses in lockdown, found myself a disability work coach etc) but I’m hoping they’ll help me find something suitable soon too.

Unescorted · 18/03/2021 13:44

They are scummy - how are your trading standards? some places are good others not to so. Other option would be to get media involved (Guardian has a good consumer column). They prey on people not wanting to admit to being taken in so they can go around a whole neighbourhood.

Sing hope it is just Cagletini feeling a bit off. Re UC - the DWP publishes their ops manuals on gov.uk. They have just been refreshing them all so I keep getting notifications that they have been added. I will see if I can find the links.

Wolfcub · 18/03/2021 13:46

Love I'd ring the police on 101. It might help them I. Intel gathering against the offenders and they can also check on your mum's neighbours as well and perhaps offer her some advice. So upsetting for you and for her.

Bulb have jacked their prices up so I've used MSE auto switch to move companies. Should save £2-300 per year

northender · 18/03/2021 16:25

Who are you moving to wolf? It's a huge hike from bulb. I'll have a look later
love that sort of thing makes me so angry. A good friend of ours has been on tv and radio as his dad who has dementia was conned into signing his house over to a fraudster. They were caught and are now locked up thank goodness. Definitely report it.
unescortedYou're right, everyone is getting irritable. I've been mostly okay, but now work is causing problems, everything seems worse, I feel done with all the restrictions & can't wait to be able to make choices again

Unescorted · 18/03/2021 16:37

Via work we had Octopus come and tell us about their business - they have a smart meter / heat source pump / PV / battery storage plan that changes tariff every 30 minutes - it is entirely possible to fill your batteries when it is cheap and then sell the electric back to the grid when it is expensive. On windy days there are times when the grid wants people to use up electricity so it is not over supplied. My little ears were pinned back.

Tonight's dinner is chicken pie. For the first time in ages I am looking forward to dinner.

Lovemaltesers · 18/03/2021 17:11

My “D”mum has now said to me that any help with finances should be done by my brother as the first born. Good luck with that! This being the Dbrother who hasn’t seen them for over a year, and when he saw his local friends last summer didn’t bother to stop by....

SingToTheSky · 18/03/2021 17:37

Eeeek love 😬🤦🏽‍♀️

My friend has said very good things about Octopus. We are currently trying to get taken off prepay for electric (it was already there when we moved in) then we can switch. You’d think 2.5y perfect payment record on the gas bill (which isn’t prepay) would help 😂

Shortcrust or puff, unescorted?

Gensola · 18/03/2021 17:49

love so sorry to hear this! My FIL keeps asking us about money he thinks he lent us but he didn’t! We are really worried in case SIL thinks we are scamming him, he just brings it up every so often Blush he also however told me that my DH was born before his sister who is 8 years older and a long and elaborate story about the nurses stealing his iPad which was on the coffee table right in front of us so I hope they realise it isn’t true!!
We are running out of money again, a week til payday. I really need to get better at budgeting. Sigh.

Lovemaltesers · 18/03/2021 18:21

Dmum has been utterly vile to me this afternoon. This is also the Dbrother who she pays £100 a month to help with bills and has paid £1000s to over the years. But he barely gives her the time of day. It took a lot of restraint not to tell her to fuck off!

SingToTheSky · 18/03/2021 18:25

Sorry love that’s horrible :( it’s not fair for you to bear the brunt of all this 💐

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/03/2021 18:39

Bunch of bastards love. Definitely police IMO.
Ah yes pfb. Ha

I probably spent money today.

ememem84 · 18/03/2021 19:03

Shitter of a day. So am dying my hair. Obvs.

Unescorted · 18/03/2021 19:04

Puff. It is a mid week pie so creme fraiche is the sauce.

love I sometimes think our mums are their own worst enemies.

gen I was glad to see pay day.

We had our council tax bill this week - £174 x10. The increase is above inflation.... strange that.

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/03/2021 19:15

Love Flowers

SingToTheSky · 18/03/2021 19:24

Sounds good unescorted

Ah em sorry about the crap day.

I haven’t done much today. Found some reports to send to camhs. Rearranged therapy as it would be a waste if everyone is in the house due to isolating.

Need to get Cagletini a hairbrush. Any recommendations for fairly curly hair?

ememem84 · 18/03/2021 19:33

Tangle teaser. I have one and it’s ace.

SnugglySnerd · 18/03/2021 19:34

Sorry you are having such a hard time at the moment Love. Definitely get onto the police about the loft people. Flowers for you.

Very busy today. Bought 2 big bags of compost to pot up a few things in the garden. Also went for a lovely walk round a local reservoir with dts and my mum. We spotted loads of wildlife including a jay, a goosander, 2 little regrets, a bullfinch and a green woodpecker.
Going to try and get a few jobs done then watch new Taskmaster.

SnugglySnerd · 18/03/2021 19:35

*egrets, not regrets!!!

ememem84 · 18/03/2021 20:02

Oooh I meant to say on Saturday whilst riding I saw a peacock. An actual real life peacock.

Unescorted · 18/03/2021 20:13

em my mil had a Peacock called Fred. He lived for ages and ages. It was only many years after he died and I was saying that he had had a good long life that it was explained Fred was more than one Fred. ... we tried to work it out and the general consensus was there were 4 Freds.

Sing tangle teaser. Although straight hair it managed to get DDs dreadlocks out (she developed a hatred of having her hair brushed) without tears.

snuggly we had canada geese, great tits, and a pheasant stuck in a tree (very comical) this week. Some one should write a Christmas Carol about birds in trees. Wink

SnugglySnerd · 18/03/2021 20:20

Birds shouldn't really get stick in trees should they?! Pheasants are notoriously not very bright though!

Love peacocks! Was it just out in the wild? They usually live in stately homes and such like! Warwick Castle has some, they are fab!

Bornlazy · 18/03/2021 21:12

Sing I love, love, love my Wet Brush I buy them for everyone as presents and everyone loves them.

Love I'm sorry your dm is being so horrible to you. It's the last thing you need. My dm can make me feel like shit sometimes and the irritating thing is she would never ever think she's in the wrong. I try to rise above it but it is so hard

north I hate my job at the moment. I think possible lots of people in the nhs do. It's hard to explain but I just have this feeling that everything has changed forever and there has been a real shift in priorities. It all just makes an already hard job harder. I'm counting down the years until I can retire. I hope your's picks up soon.

Beautiful day here today. I actually sat out sunbathing it was so nice.

Wolfcub · 18/03/2021 21:41

Peoples energy North I don't normally switch if I'm getting food service and there's less than £100 in the price but this is close to £300 diff and it wasn't the cheapest available

Love you are having a horrendous day Thanks

Loving the bird talk

£30 takeaway. This is what happens when you socialise in the week !
