Congratulations Em!

Nothing very exciting has happened here today. Dh did the supermarket shop and I have eaten 2 hot cross buns and now feel completely stuffed!

Mrsmadevans · 16/03/2021 18:13

Just quickly reconciling March so far...

March:
NSDs: 6/31
Groceries: £356.19/£390
Everything else: £249.62/350

maddenlightfoot · 16/03/2021 20:30

Wolf you must be exhausted... I get that kind of non-hungry when absolutely wrung out. You've done so much on your house though - it must be looking lovely!

I agree... dull is good! I'm looking for a bit more dull in my life after a crazy few months. The new house has a garden and I'm really looking forward to pottering at my leisure. North I'm very jealous of your lovely list of pottering. Hope you've had a lovely day!

Born wow I guess kids do get more expensive as they get older! Learning to drive and owning a car are such essentials though. I have a few friends who've had to learn later in life for work or after having children and they all wish they'd have done it sooner. Unescorted your car deal sounds like a win-win!

Em that's great news about your pay and bonus - you certainly work hard for it.

Mrsmadevans · 17/03/2021 15:52

Afternoon everyone Smile
NSD for me today about time too !
Am tired my back was playing me up been awake since 5 with the pain. Its better now , pain relief and a lovely bath sorted me out Smile
Weather is lovely here today bit chilly but l can see it won't be long before the Spring is here . When l woke this morning it was just getting light & it was lovely Smile

Unescorted · 17/03/2021 17:14

I have booked in for my jabby stabby - Tuesday for the first one and June for the second. Being an old gimmer has its advantages.

We have had a beautiful day here - spring has sprung. As soon as DD can sort herself out we are going for a bimble.

Mrs hope your back is still OK.

northender · 17/03/2021 18:20

dh has his booked for Sunday week and June unescorted
Hope you've had a less exhausting day wolf
This afternoon has been lovely and sunny here. I sat out in the garden with ds for a while browsing recipe books.
Had a productive day here. Cancelled premium Zoom subscription which we got for dh's birthday calls. Paid off our balance transfer CC which was interest free but I am fed up of keeping swapping at the end of the 0% period. Now we just have a loan (3 years to go) and the mortgage (9 years). Aiming to pay loan off before dd goes to uni & mortgage sooner if we can, so that we can have a couple of years of significantly reduced outgoings before retiring.
Ordered a new bra and new sport bra (both much needed, but £80)
Didn't manage to pick winners at Cheltenham for the second day (£2)
Took lovely elderly next door neighbour to GP
Time of has been good so far but spoiled yesterday by a work related problem. It really is tough at the moment, feel inclined to look elsewhere. I love my substantive role and it is really convenient, but the Trust I work for is not good at all

Lovemaltesers · 17/03/2021 18:22

I’m currently sat rather chilly waiting in my car as my DM is allowed to visit my Ddad for the first time in a month! Found this out a few hours ago. Only one of us allowed to go at a booked time, so i’m coming to visit him on Friday. I hope it goes ok for Dmum, feeling a bit anxious.

Dmum is trying to tell me when it’s my turn to visit around when she doesn’t want to. Err... I do go to work/have children to look after you know!

Had a puncture in my car today, so £20 to get that repaired.

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/03/2021 18:24

Jabby stabby Grin hope they don't run out before they get to us young uns..

Cancel broadband next week. Booked by for rental with £110 cash back card.
That's it today.

Unescorted · 17/03/2021 19:26

Love after all the toing and froing I hope your DDad and DMum are having a good catch up . My family are the same. They don't see me work so assume that I am doing nothing just like them .

SnugglySnerd · 17/03/2021 20:54

No Mrs just normal Tesco HxBs!

My dull week has continued but actually I think that's a good thing, I am feeling more calm and patient than I usually do by mid-week.

Nsd today.

Mrsmadevans · 17/03/2021 20:56

Ahh thank you Unescorted Smile it is absolutely fine tonight thankfully , l have a spinal nerve that gets caught in a partially prolapsed disc and on times it seems to play me up Hmm or at least that is what l think they said it was Grin
So glad you are getting your stabby jabby too Smile
My Mum thinks we do nothing because we are both retired. My Dh told her he has never worked so hard since we retired to look after them !
Life there will be plenty of jabby stabby, not to worry Smile
Love so happy for you and your parents for you all to be able to visit him Smile Grrr to the puncture!
Sorry you have a bit of aggro in work North good of you to take your neighbour to the GP too Flowers
Weather has been just gorgeous here , Spring is nearly here yay!

Mrsmadevans · 17/03/2021 20:58

Snuggly ahh they are still delicious mark you Grin
Dull is excellent believe you me ! Flowers

ememem84 · 17/03/2021 21:52

I’ve lost all patience today. The assistant has been a nightmare. Literally.

Then ds played up at pick up time. Refused to go with me. Wanted to walk the long way round. Screamed when I said no because I was carrying my bag his bag Dds bag and Dd. No. Just no.

And dh kicked off about me going to Pilates. He thought it was in the house via zoom. Not actually in the studio. So his back played up. Funny that.

I went. He’s stripping and folding laundry rather aggressively. Because the cleaners are coming tomorrow and he did all the laundry today (I did ask him not to because I knew it’d have to go away today...)

Sigh.

Unescorted · 18/03/2021 06:43

Morning.

Em isn't someone in to clean meant to make your life easier? Grin I think if we had one here we would need to spend the rest of the week tidying up. It is easier to live in light squalor.

We have had the Covid email home from school - a case found but DS is not a close contact. To be fair to the school this is the first case since the start except one member of admin staff who has no contact with the students. They have done really well.

I have booked next week off - I realised I have loads of holiday (38 days not including bank holidays) & I am running out of time to take it. Checking the forecast it will be a week of sorting the garden.

Happierwithouthim · 18/03/2021 09:20

Unescorted sounds like an enjoyable week off
Em good on you for going to your pilates class, did it destress you or were you too wound up for it?

We had a lovely St Patricks Day, dc watched a movie in the morning while I had a leisurely breakfast and did some chores, I bagged up timber for the fires during the week, which means I only have to grab a bag and I'm good to go! Then we went to beauty spot down the road and had some socially distanced chats, home for lunch and took dog for walk on a local beach, dd had a bath then, ds sat on a chair beside the bath and chatted to her the whole way through while I watched home and away and emmerdale! Bliss Grin

northender · 18/03/2021 10:02

Struggling a bit today, low mood. Tis mainly work related even though I'm on leave. Was all ready for gym class then laptop crashed. Need to give myself a stern talking to & get something productive done.

Happierwithouthim · 18/03/2021 11:53

Gave dc €10 extra in pocket money to cover bank holiday - they spent it on sweets tues eve, that shop has too many nice expensive sweets was over €18 in there tues pm and same last tues, all I got was a twister - new flavour! So next week I'm going to give them their pocket money in coins before they go in and once its gone its gone, might annoy the cashier Smile

I love thursday it's my ynab day and I'm back to relatively my full wage now too. Made a start on my gift sinking fund as April will be busy - niece will be 3, dd 11 and df and his twin sis 70. Birthday fund for dd is looking flush enough as I've been adding to it every week. She wanted a night in a hotel if she couldn't have a party doesn't look like she can have either with restrictions, second covid birthday and I guess at 12 she probably won't be having a party!

Lovemaltesers · 18/03/2021 12:35

My Dmum had another cold caller at the door last week and she paid them over £4K to do work on her loft Angry. I only found this out as I snooped through her paperwork!
Salesman agreed that it wasn’t worth her having money in her account, as it would go on care home fees Angry

Scummy, scamming salesmen!!!!! Angry

Unescorted · 18/03/2021 12:47

Love she has a 7 day cooling off period.

north there are a lot of people who are fecked off with work atm (me included). Small things escalate because we don't have anyone to bounce things off.

Happierwithouthim · 18/03/2021 13:09

Good on what 'we' believe frugality means
