Somewhat hungover ds is currently trying to figure out how to do a cooked breakfast!

ememem84 · 14/03/2021 11:13

I’ve had cards, a bed bundle (Dd and ds launched themselves at me when I was in bed!), a bash on the head (Dd), ds farted on me, and scrambled eggs and bacon on toast and lots of coffee. 😂😀

Mrsmadevans · 14/03/2021 11:29

Happy Mother's day everyone 😀
Hope you were all spoilt and enjoying your day 💐🎁☕🍪🍫🍾🍷😋🌼🌹🤗

Unescorted · 14/03/2021 11:41

I may have been a little overwhelmed. They had wanted to take me out for a proper Mothers Day Afternoon Tea. Obviously that was not on the cards. So they bought a ceramic cake stand and tea pot to match my favourite teacup. I was banished to soak in the bath while they set up the cakes, tea and flowers. We had cake for late breakfast.

I feel a little bad for card and bunch of flowers I have got my mum....

Lovemaltesers · 14/03/2021 13:59

gen Flowers

That sounds lovely unescorted

😂 at your sister em

DH hasn’t done terribly well on the gift front this year. MIL gift was a bit shit (he never opens online shopping until wrapping up time) and mine was meh too. Obviously thanked the DC for it, it was something with the branding of his favourite sports team on it Hmm . Honestly I think he forgot to buy something for me today.

In frugal news, I’d let me car insurance auto renew as I couldn’t be bothered. Yesterday got a message to say the payment hadn’t gone through (new bank card). So finally did price comparison thingy and saved £70 and getting £20 Dominos vouchers!

Mrsmadevans · 14/03/2021 14:36

Love l got a Dominos 20 voucher from Confused and gave it to Dd2 for her to enjoy in her own home , with her BFF when the lockdown eases , enjoy it! Smile
Sorry your pressies didn't cut the mustard, l have stopped having anything from my Dfam except vouchers ,wine or food Grin l have learned my lesson after Dh bought hedgehog slippers years ago that cost 25 pounds from Debenhams 20 years ago Grin

Fear I have so much admiration for mothers of twins.

Tomorrow is pay day and I am going to buy some clothes for the first time in over 18 months (I am not counting the novelty Christmas jumper from Aldi).

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/03/2021 20:22

The table and chair is great.
£20 on a bike for Ds off eBay. Just need to arrange collection now.
Need a move list for next week now.

ememem84 · 14/03/2021 20:51

Dh had a chat today about getting tickets for rugby World Cup in france in 2023 (I think). He wants us all to go.

By that time the dc will be 5 and at school and almost 4. So will be super interested in the rugby. 🙄 He’s adamant he’s going. So I’ve said to try and get tickets and take it from there. Apparently ticket registration opens from 11 tomorrow morning.

I don’t care if he goes or not. I went last time (2015). It was fun. But would it be as fun with two kids in tow? Nope. So it’s best he goes if he wants to. It’s in france apparently so easy enough in theory to get to.

SnugglySnerd · 14/03/2021 21:42

I didn't realise you had twins too Fear. Mine are still little so hard work but not teenage-level yet!

Mrsmadevans · 14/03/2021 22:39

Aw thank you all so much for the table and chair love 🤗 Dd2 is so happy with them 🤗
Em Dd2 & DH are registering tomorrow for the world cup toi, Dd2, although born & bred in Wales and working for the Welsh Rugby Union , loves rugby so much she volunteered for the England Rugby world cup in 2015 when she was in Uni. She was a Marshall in Cardiff. She absolutely loved it and said the New Zealanders , Italians & Japanese were the nicest out of Everyone who attended 🤗
Dd2 said it was a ballot in 2015 and she was lucky enough to get tickets for 2 Wales matches for HR and her Dad 🤗
I better get to bed have just watched Grace , it was slow to start but developed very nicely it helps that John Simms is in the lead role have loved him since Ashes to Ashes 🤗👏
Have a good night sleep Everyone 🤗

Mrs they filmed The Village in our village - the only redeeming thing was to go to the pub and be sat and have Mr Simms sit down next to you and start learning his lines.

We all wanted it to be good because it is loosely based on our local history.... it was dreadful. And because they didn't really understand the tensions created by the things they were covering it was all poor people good except where they enabled the bad rich people. Forgetting that the enabling poor people are grand parents / still alive and still live in the village and their choice was do as they were told or starve. Once the Trespassers left they still had to live & work in the village.

Anyway - off my soap box.

Have a lovely day. I am trying to keep away from frock shops becuse today is payday.

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/03/2021 06:45

Defo not a child thing IMO em.
Work today and packing and list writing.

ememem84 · 15/03/2021 07:12

I was lucky enough to get nz Argentina tickets in 2015. It was for dhs 30th and I managed to a) get tickets and b) keep it a secret from him until the week before. Match at wembley so it was spendy - flights hotel tickets. Probably £1000 for the weekend. But worth every penny. It was so much fun. Also tickets were 6 rows from the pitch....view was ace!

I do hope dh manages to get tickets.

Mrsmadevans · 15/03/2021 07:29

Morning everyone 😀
Hope he gets tickets too Em 🤗
Unescorted l get you , it was poorly researched imho if they didn't treat the village with sensitivity. Especially with relatives still alive and very much living in the village Of course they take 'poetic license' 🙄
I find myself torn over the Sarah Everard vigil. It was badly mismanaged and extremely insensitivity handled. To think that the Met were policing the vigil when one of their own was suspected of murdering her & the ensuing chaos does not sit easy with any of us l am sure. I don't know what the answer is but definitely not this. It was a peaceful protest that was disrespected and just showed up the force for their utter ineptitude. This is all imho of course and l don't know the full story but this is just so important for women and men , who for the vast majority are not monsters , that it needs great care to get it right. I will get off my soapbox too Unescorted 😔
It's just so sad and distressing for Sarah and her friends and family and for all society really .

Unescorted · 15/03/2021 07:55

The Met have dug a hole and haven't stopped digging. I get that they are in shock because they are horrified by what one of their colleagues as done an abhorrent act. They also have a huge chunk of the media and public criticising them for not protecting a person walking home and women more generally. I guess they felt under attack and acted accordingly. First by banning the vigil and then by heavy handed policing of it when it went ahead.

In a odd way I am glad it has panned out the way it has because it focus' MP's mind when they vote on Priti Patel's legislation to ban protests which is going to Commons vote today. It is a clear illustration of how angry a huge chunk of voters are when they are not allowed to have their voice heard.
