:o I will never be able to say omelette without a welsh accent.

It’s weird to think programmes such as that have only been a part of my life since covid. Less than a year ago but seems forever ago at the same time! Sorry, getting philosophical there. :o

Bornlazy · 26/02/2021 23:28

Love great news about your dad that will make a huge difference to his physical health. Enjoy your freedom tomorrow.

Unescorted hope you have enjoyed the cocktails 🍸 Happy Birthday to your DD 🎂

Love well done on passing the exam 🎉

Mrs love the Lidl receipt. I was in there today too and spent £67 but £12 of that was for other people. I got my £10 off for spending £200 this month voucher need to remember and use it within 8 days

SnugglySnerd · 27/02/2021 07:06

Another Gavin and Stacey fan here! Although we rewatched a lot of Life in Pieces last night, I wish they would make another series of it.

£60 Sainsbury's yesterday although most of that was for my mum and she will pay me back. For us it was just fruit, yoghurt and toothpaste!

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/02/2021 07:41

New googlebox was on last night too.
Still west winging here

£57 Aldi, £14 Iceland, £7 pound land. Will go to. Sainsbury's tomorrow.

Parents try on school uniform and shoes now

Wolfcub · 27/02/2021 07:54

Also watch out for high school not starting on the 8th - our school's testing regime means a staggered start and effectively another week of home school

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 27/02/2021 08:18

All secondary schools are doing staggering starts as the kids need testing on the first day back. Due to resources they can't do all at once. DD goes back 9th.
Good point though wolf it could have been missed reading

CurlsandCurves · 27/02/2021 08:33

We’ve not heard yet how our secondary school is going to manage the testing and return to school. But I reckon it’ll be a staggered start here too.

SnugglySnerd · 27/02/2021 09:13

Staggered start at my school, they will all be back by the end of week 1. We are still teaching remotely for those who are still at home.

I am not buying any uniform as they are in summer dresses after Easter so dd will have to manage for 4 weeks! She might need shoes though.

Mrsmadevans · 27/02/2021 09:17

@ememem84

Love a bit of gavin and Stacy. Omelette?
🤣
Bornlazy · 27/02/2021 09:27

How are the schools going to manage the testing for covid? The tests take 30 mins to develop will they all be hanging around somewhere waiting for that?

Ds2 had his first lesson in school yesterday afternoon and loved it. We are in Scotland so doing things differently with senior pupils getting lessons for subjects that have a practical element with no idea when it'll become full time. They have been given lateral flow tests to use at home twice a week but it's not compulsory. We did his first one yesterday morning.

Wolfcub · 27/02/2021 09:35

Born ours get tested on one day and then Go back the next if they are clear

Not quite sure how the in school and then at home testing is going to work after that but sure we will find out in time

Happier Happy Birthday!

We are all in remarkably good shape, except for DS who has his first ever hangover. They made me Pornstar Martini, Amaretto Sour, Long Island Iced Tea and Espresso Martini. I called it a day at that point. Saved by the length of time it took to make each one and the thought of getting up for a walk this morning. It was a night of silliness which is what we need in the absence of any other party options. Not cheap but more frugal than going out to a cocktail bar. We also have enough left for a few reruns.

Staggered start here too. DS has grown so much over the last few weeks so it is going to be a Mod look for the final term. His school have said that there is a swap shop for uniforms - drop off the bits that don't fit and pick up something that will. We might go on a forage when he has his first test.

Still no word on university starting - we are assuming Trinity term (24th April) because she only has 2 weeks left of this one.

Wolfcub · 27/02/2021 09:50

Happy birthday Happier

I love an amaretto sour and a Long Island ice tea Unescorted

Life in pieces is one on my list! I have the most ridiculous list of things to watch. And books to read. Will finish my third of the year today.

Plan for today - finish my assignment, then go get jabbed :o yay!!!

Weather is glorious. Sunny warm (14 degrees I think!)

Spending a Frantichour tidying up before I head off to the stables.

Happierwithouthim · 27/02/2021 12:39

Thanks for all the birthday wishes wasn't expecting them on here at all #feelingthelove
In my cards I got €150 cash and won €10 on scratchcards, bf will call tonight so I've one left to look forward to.

I've 5 pages to catch up on here.

Been reading budgeting books on borrowbox this week, actually nothing I didn't really know already, does that mean they're not good books or I'm a good frugaleer? There was stuff about investing but I'm not interested in that.

February has been a good month for my budgeting wise
Groceries 293.85/300
Cleaning/Dog 50.46/50
Clothing for DC I'm budgeting €35 monthly from Child Benefit and this seems to be working quite well
Childcare has been a big expense €640 compared to under €200 most months but this is due to pandemic. Next month it'll return to normal. When my childcare category reaches €500 surplus again I'll transfer to Emergency Fund.

Spends yesterday €7.50 local shop, today €28.30 on deli breakfast and some pocket money spends and diet coke 4 pack for my birthday bacardis tonight, they didn't give discount on yellow sticker Shredded Wheat so I'm going to bring receipt and book in later to get my refund. Didn't get newspaper earlier so I'll go to buy that anyhow.

Will do grocery shop later on but that'll be counted as March spends.

ememem84 · 27/02/2021 13:30

Ooh I love A cocktail.

Back from riding. Jumped my highest ever. Almost bottled it but only had 3 strides before pony jumped so went for it. Hoorah!

Dh and ds are in the garden. I’m with dd waiting for her to nap then I’ll go and get on with pottering about the house.

AmberItsACertainty · 27/02/2021 14:33

Happy birthday happier.

You are all inspiring me to get out into the sunshine. We've got a lovely day here clear blue skies. I'm going to take a magazine to the park and sit by the duck pond. I don't think I've done very well at surviving lockdown, I've turned into a hermit.

SnugglySnerd · 27/02/2021 15:17

Happy birthday Happier! What a lovely sunny day it is too!

Just been for a walk and we are now out in the garden doing a bit of tidying. Dcs have soapy water to wash garden toys with. They are soaking wet, having a great time!

ememem84 · 27/02/2021 15:44

Snaps snuggly. Ds and Dd had water and brushes. They’ve painted the wall. 😀

I’ve done a freezer audit and vague meal plan. Dh and ds have gone to the shop.

Dd and I are watching ice age and eating bunny shaped crispies. She’s feeding me. 😂

Lovemaltesers · 27/02/2021 15:45

Happy birthday happier 🎂

DC have been in the garden all afternoon and washing is drying outside

Went round to see Dmum for the first time since Ddad went into hospital. Picked up some of dads clothes to drop off for him once we know where he is going next. Clothes looked a bit grubby so I’ve given them an extra wash, once I emptied the washing machine of his clothes I found a key, a plastic lid and two french francs 😆

I need to buy dad some socks as the ones mum packed were completely worn at the heels and look awful

Ddad had to go back into theatre yesterday afternoon as pacemaker wires hadn’t gone in right. He’s recovering well.

Wolfcub · 27/02/2021 16:43

Sounds like most people are having a lovely day

Love is it maybe worth looking into a service wash service for your mum?

£6 butcher, £8 cafe £2 flower shop and £5 bakery. Mostly stuff to make mum's birthday lunch

Bed stripped and remade. Been for A walk. Most of day at dm's, watching rugby now.

Cake pic for Mrs. DM has had a good day and I'm
pleased. She has a really small group of friends and they've all made a real effort to do something nice for her
