Lovely sunny day here. Ate lunch in the garden! I have found the combination of blue skies and the spring flowers opening everywhere very uplifting today. Also got the washing dried on the line yesterday and today which feels more frugal and smells lovely!

Happy Friday everyone.

Snuggly the sunshine and flowers were beautiful yesterday. I have my fingers crossed for a similarly lovely weekend. It is forecast to be nice here but until the day dawns I am not getting my hopes too high.

Last night I made fajitas for tea.... including a really good home made spice mix. This makes a Bonne Mama jam jar amount if you use table spoons... 2parts Chilli powder, 4 paprika (I used part sweet part smoked), 1 Cumin, 1 garlic powder, 1 onion powder, 2 oregano, 1 salt, 1 sugar, half cayanne. It is the best fajita mix I have come across and making a jar means I can just sling it into chicken or mince to give instant Tex Mex.

Do not expect any sense from me later.... we are having a cocktail party for 4 tonight. There are about 3000 units of alcohol on my dining room table.

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/02/2021 06:59

My self isolation is up at 3pm today (not that I’ve worked it out exactly). Woohoo! Once homeschool is done, we are going for a walk. I’m quite excited 😂 Will wait to go anywhere else until tomorrow though.

We’re expecting sunshine today so will be hanging out the washing. I might cut the grass this weekend too. Rock and roll here!

Payday too. I transferred the little bit of cash left in my account yesterday into savings.

Happy Friday everyone ☀️

Tightwad2020 · 26/02/2021 12:40

Hey, life, what was your exam? Sorry to have missed that bit - many congratulations.

To those struggling with adolescent motivation - I feel your pain. I cannot compute the hours I spent coaxing, nagging, studying alongside DS to get him through school exams and GSCEs. Changed schools after year 12 and started A levels again. Nearly got thrown out of new school. Turned out alright - actually, more than alright - but dear god! the struggle to get there. I think there's plenty, as a parent of a teenager, that you can do wrong, and plenty you can do right, and you should bloody well try to do right. But TIME and the changing adolescent brain is your best ally. Don't despair!

I am optimistic about lockdown exit, myself. DS back in art college on 8 March - they will be tested twice a week. We've booked a week in Devon for June, when we'll be able to see my parents (everyone will have been vaccinated by then, except DS, who's already had Covid). And the sun is shining, my iris bulbs are in flower, time to do a bit of work in the garden at last. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

ememem84 · 26/02/2021 15:52

We’ve been to the zoo. Dparents came and treated us to coffees cake and toys in the shop. We have a membership for the zoo so technically free for us today.

The dc are both asleep I’m watching Netflix with catface. This almost never happens on a Friday!

Lovemaltesers · 26/02/2021 16:04

em I think your days out and trips to coffee shops, hairdressers etc are making us so jealous! Sounds like a lovely day.

Sun is still shining and had my walk 😎

Wolfcub · 26/02/2021 16:54

£24 brewery
£5 Amazon

Wallpaper stripping has killed me. Everything hurts and I haven't even done a whole room just three widths

Washing x3 hung up outside. House cleaned top to bottom except the bathroom (again) Really need to do that tomorrow.

DM's birthday cake arrived. It's lovely (as it bloody should be at the price) but I nearly lost my cool when the delivery driver stood it on the step the wrong way up!

Ds taken to his dad's

AHH thank you Wolf that is lovely of you to go to the bother of doing that , l have a vested interest tbh it's my Dd1 birthday soon and Mother's day so am looking for ideas help help! 😁 💐
lifelongfrugaleer · 26/02/2021 18:38

That's ok tight. It was in data protection.

Tightwad2020 · 26/02/2021 19:38

Very topical, life.

Blimey, wolf, you are super-active. Epsom salts bath and a massage should be your reward - ease those muscles.

Impressive home bakers, cocktail drinkers, have a lovely evening. I am making croque monsieurs and, er, oven chips for me and DH tonight. To eat in front of Gardeners World or something similarly undemanding.

Fearofawelshplanet · 26/02/2021 20:04

Happy birthday for Saturday Happier!!!

Mrsmadevans · 26/02/2021 20:08

Fear are you watching Gavin & Stacey 😂

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/02/2021 20:17

Rest up wolf. Sounds painful.

SingToTheSky · 26/02/2021 21:06

Love a bit of Gavin and Stacey. Only discovered it in lockdown one. Tidy.

Gensola · 26/02/2021 21:58

I love Gavin and Stacey - have seen it all through twice. I introduced DH to it, he loves it too. I loves it I does!

ememem84 · 26/02/2021 22:17
