Unescorted l am just thinking l can't do anything about it really and convincing myself that if ppl are coughing they have their backs to the pvc cover 🙄😌
Tayto l don't blame you for not wanting to go to hospital for anything!!
Took Bobbos DD to have an endoscopy in Brecon hospital so popped into Aldi , bought loads of stuff in the Christmas sale will put my receipt on now £32 spent but the savings were £70 off so l did really well 👏☺️

Mrsmadevans · 11/01/2021 16:51

Am very pleased 😁

Loads of bargains there from. Aldi

Wolfcub · 11/01/2021 18:03

Tiring day. Hideous meeting this afternoon.

Got quote for fitted wardrobes. Happy with design and less than I'd budgeted. May be able to stop living out of boxes by Easter so that's good news. Will need to arrange decorator and carpet once I have a date.

SnugglySnerd · 11/01/2021 18:17

That's a good haul Mrs!

Been teaching online all day. One dodgy moment when dh had a meeting at the same time and the broadband went a bit dodgy but otherwise fine and the students have been excellent. I don't know how people work in front of a screen all day though. I am exhausted and my neck and shoulders really ache. I think dh is able to have screen breaks but I can't really because all the students are on the other end, can't really say "just off for a walk, back in 10 mins!"

Unescorted · 11/01/2021 18:27

snuggly breaks, well adjusted keyboard, monitor, chair and desk set up. Google Desk Yoga. Can you have a class stretch for each class?

Mrs I am going to have to drop into ALDI...

wolf it is great when budget & design co-inside. Not so great about shitty work day.

Looks like my line manager has COVID.... I have no idea what I am supposed to be doing so I hope they are over reacting, but listening to the cough it is either 60 a day or the rona. They sounded like a seal on amphetamine.

Snuggly ironing board for laptop if you can. It’s adjustable....

I sit on a cushion at our dining table and have my laptop on a lap desk thing. Raises it up a bit for me this is the one I have

lapdesk

Nsd here.

Mrsmadevans · 11/01/2021 20:00

Em that lapdesk looks excellent 👏👏👏
Unescorted l sorry your boss my the have the Rona but omg l laughed at you saying "she would be like a seal on amphetamine" 🤣
Snuggly my Dd2 has the same trouble , she's bought a shoulder massager and a shoulder heated pad to help .
Wolf afternoon meetings should be banned ! Vile things ! Just when we are On the wind down for home and you have to pay attention urhghhh! 💐
Bobbos DDs endoscopy was fine so that is a huge relief 😀

SnugglySnerd · 11/01/2021 21:48

Yes I do need to raise the laptop up a bit. I am mainly working at the kitchen table which isn't ideal but a big improvement on lockdown 1 when I was working on my bed so the dcs didn't interrupt!

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/01/2021 06:54

Stand at the kitchen bench and raise the laptop snuggly. Ironing board is a good call too.
You do get used to screen but it takes a few days

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/01/2021 07:29

£32 Sainsbury's mostly on stationary and oddments Aldi don't have but there was poor notebook choice.

Mrsmadevans · 12/01/2021 08:38

Morning everyone 😀
Weather a bit meh here and very dark still ☺️
46,000 NHS staff off self isolating or with Covid . That's massive l don't know how the hell they are coping tbh . Bit scary don't want to frighten anyone but it's worrying .
Have chased a payment for the car we bought on a Capitol one card , l don't want to be charged interest but l sorted it ok 👏👏👏
Hope everyone has a lovely day 😊

ememem84 · 12/01/2021 12:08

morning all.

dsis has text me this morning to say she's still not feeling well (she had tummy trouble last week and its still going on - she's back at school, thinks its a bug, and has immodiumed up to the hilt apparently as they are short staffed). am i mad for thinking she should not be there?

Gensola · 12/01/2021 12:49

unescorted laughed out loud at your comparison of your manager to a deal 😂

I am almost done with my marking mountain but had to sacrifice both workout and my French evening class yesterday to get it done. 5 pieces left. Trying to clear my slate before the next lot comes in, I don’t know if the other teachers find marking online takes way longer?

With both of us at home we are going through food like nothing else - we both usually get free lunch at work plus teas and coffees etc and now we have to shift for ourselves. I’ll never complain about school food again!! Making a lot of soups as it’s cheap, warming and slimming. Today it’s tomato soup made with stock from Sunday roast chicken.
Need to get out for a walk and return a package via UpS - walked the whole way to the store a couple of days ago and their scanner was broken so had to come back with the parcel, so annoying.
Credit cards are now at £177 on the interest free one and £200 on the interest paying one, which I will clear from savings on Friday. The £177 will have to wait until payday. Then we can focus on DH debt, and hammer it down.
I have two iPhones I need to get unlocked to sell them, not sure how to do this.

AdoraBell · 12/01/2021 13:59

unescorted your baking sounds lovely, and YY to Europe coming to our kitchens 🤣

I thought today would be an NSD, but our sewer pump has failed, again. I suspect it’s down to DD2 pushing hair down to shower drain rather than removing it. That either will be £300, or about £600 depending if it needs emptying.

SnugglySnerd · 12/01/2021 18:06

That is scary Mrs.

Agree about the marking Gen. It feels relentless. I find it easier at school to collect a whole class of work in one go, mark it all at once and give feedback. I'm finding with online submission that the kids tend to hand it in as soon as they have finished so there is work coming at me from every class all hours of the day and night. Just trying to keep organised is a logistical nightmare. Then some kids are anxious I might not have got it so follow it up with a message or email 10 mins later "did you get my homework?" which requires me to reply then 5 mins later I get another message "OK, thanks". It is quite sweet in a way but also quite relentless!

MsKL · 12/01/2021 18:27

Another NSD for me. Thought I might need to put diesel in, but still had half a tank, so all good.

maddenlightfoot · 12/01/2021 18:37

46,000 Mrs 😱. A friend of mine has just left nursing because of the current situation. If I likened it to school it would be like going into school as a supply teacher to find everyone else on site is supply teaching too! So many good people, working their butts off, but trying to firefight everywhere and having to cover other wards at a moments notice.

Snuggly and Gen the marking sounds horrendous! You're right, when ploughing through a pile of books you get into a rhythm!

NSD yesterday and today...
January:
NSDs: 5/31
Groceries: £103.54/400
Everything else: £149.68/£350

Onwardsandupwardswego · 12/01/2021 18:42

Petrol and nothing else. Snuggly so you have a video on? I teach and the video takes loads of the broadband width. Sound much better if you kill the video

Unescorted · 12/01/2021 18:45

Snuggly - can you set up a auto response on your mail account? Set up a message along the lines of "thanks for your email - if it is completed homework give yourself a shiny. If it is an excuse it had better be good Wink. Anything else I will get back to you as soon as I can"

Today is a NSD - DD's larger desk is getting paid for from her materials grant. It has been confirmed that they won't be able to go into the studio. We have a stay at homer until it is re-opened.

Evening everyone , hope everyone is alright Flowers
Madden l can quite believe your friend couldn't bear anymore she is a loss to the Nursing community Sad
Very sad news for me tonight, my Cousins Dh has died very suddenly this afternoon , he was in hospital with Covid over Christmas , came home and seemed as if he was over it , he became very ill over the last week and was readmitted Sunday. He was 76 had COPD . He wasn't admitted to ITU , l think they were hoping he was going to come home, when the phone call came to my Cousin she thought it was to collect him Sad. l popped to M & S bought her some flowers & 3 x dine in for a tenner offers to feed her and her Dds over the next few days . I have told her l will do anything to help but in reality there is nothing l can do. l had to leave the things on her doorstep and we were 12 feet away l saw her and spoke to her but l couldn't even hold her hand. She is being supported by her Dds & their DHS & DC. They have all had Covid the past few weeks. l just wish l could help in some way because she is such a wonderful person and would do anything for anyone. He was a lovely man , I tried to say to her just think what he would have said to you darling , she said we have never discussed it . Then she remembered she said 'He told me he wanted to go first because he couldn't live without me'. I said she had to think of that . That he would have wanted to go instead of any of the girls or her. So sad . It really hits home when this happens in your own family on your doorstep. So take care everyone, stay safe , love and hugs to everyone Flowers

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/01/2021 19:27

Oh Mrs so sorry to hear that. There is not much you can do but carry on being there are being you.

Gensola · 12/01/2021 19:31

mrs I am so sorry for your loss, your poor cousin. Lots of love to you all.

snuggly the marking experience is exactly like that, they send it in at mad times, don’t save it in a format I can open, don’t put their name in the file name so I end up with 100s of “homework week 1” files.

Mrsmadevans · 12/01/2021 19:32

Thank you Life l know you are right there's nothing l can do, l will phone her tomorrow and just keep in regular touch .

Mrsmadevans · 12/01/2021 19:33

Thank you Gen so kind of you sweetheart .
