Afternoon lovelies.

em they are lovely sheeps ( Norfolk Horn I think) - I had to look it up because it is not a very common breed. When they lamb can you check to see if the babies are black... Good mothers apparently. Lockdown has sent me into all sorts of rabbit holes.

wolf that sounds nasty. Glad the gel is helping.

Hi again Ms
Mrs I love the 9p bargains. A pudding is not just for Christmas after all.

Snuggly (and Adora) you need to take breaks. Your week ends are time for you.

I have put in another 6 miles (flat mud) by walking to the foodbank & back. For the first in about 6 months we have had to put out a request for donations..... all the schools around and about have asked if we can help some families they are worried about. We are more than happy to help. The DH of one of our volunteers is a lap to fixer so he has offered to fix donated laptops and send them out to families that need them. I love where I live.

Onwardsandupwardswego · 10/01/2021 19:29

Read a comment earlier as how's your bum wolf instead of burn. Thought this lot are friendly!!!! NSD

AdoraBell · 10/01/2021 20:47

Frugal win today, sugar bag had a teeny tiny hole, delivery driver took it off the order 👍 £80-ish for the groceries. I’ve stocked up on flour over the last few months so I’ll start baking bread instead of going out every few days.

Gensola · 10/01/2021 20:53

onwards I read it as bum too 😂 and I already knew about the burn. I worked in an all boys school for 8 years, I blame the boys for my extremely immature sense of humour!!
Frugalish day today, got a new work diary £16.99 and that’s it.
DH made an amazing dinner. So stressed about work but am in actual full on denial now!

Wolfcub · 10/01/2021 21:02

My bum is fine thank you for asking 🤣🤣🤣

Unescorted · 10/01/2021 21:11

Frugaleers these day eh wolf ? Grin

gen sorry I missed you off the teacher list of people who need their weekends.

Adora I have stocked up on flour too. I was making riis taarte today.... it may have evaporated already. Tomorrow might be a tarte aux abricot. If I can't go to Europe it can come to me. I must keep my walking up...

SnugglySnerd · 10/01/2021 21:58

Pleased your bum is ok Wolf Grin Hope the burn is mending too.
Enjoyed pottery throw down. I have now dozed off in front of the TV every evening for a week. Maybe I should just cut my lisses and go to bed at 9?!

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/01/2021 06:45

Someone did burn their bum ages ago didn't they. Not going to out them thought.
Hope is less painful wolf.

Yes snug, go to bed and get proper rest.

Never watched throwdown. Might give it a go.

ememem84 · 11/01/2021 07:07

Woke up this morning to the news that our education minister has resigned because she said schools shouldn’t go back because not safe. But she was ignored by our council of government.

So schools are going back today. The teachers are angry because they still have no ppe and the argument being that it’s unsafe for everyone in the general population to mix but kids in schools are somehow exempt.

Anyhow.

Dparents are coming to pick up the dc this morning. I’m working from home today not their house (as it’s not very productive when I’m there as so many interruptions). Should be a nsd.

Unescorted · 11/01/2021 07:37

You would think they would learn from what has happened here em

I have been for a walk this morning to avoid the biblical rain we are due later today.

DD has ordered her pencils.... payday now seems a loooooooooog way away.

ememem84 · 11/01/2021 07:50

You’d have thought...but no borders closed schools open. Yet the rest of us are effectively locked down until easter (that’s the rumour anyway).

maddenlightfoot · 11/01/2021 08:07

Oh no! Yesterday wasn't a nsd day afterall. In the evening I had a bit of a mindless splurge - on essential bits for moving (boxes etc), but definitely 'unthinking' as it could have waited til a spend day later in the week. Just shows how easy it is to spend on Amazon 😡

January:
NSDs: 3/31
Groceries: £103.54/400
Everything else: £149.68/£350

Mrsmadevans · 11/01/2021 08:08

Morning everyone 😀
I am so glad your Bum is ok Wolf 😂
Em your Govt/Council seem very bull headed to me 😌
Unescorted l used to work in the NHS and they paid us earlier before Christmas and it was 6 weeks before we were paid sometimes 🙄 so l feel you! Hope DD loves her pencils . I loved the sound of them l think it was the way your Dd described them . ..buttery 😍😍😍
Life give it a go you will love it l am sure 😁
Snuggly give it a go , you soon get used to it , we go earlier and get up early so we get the maximum daylight . I don't like shortened days 🙄😀
Adora great idea 😀
Gen hope you are alright sweetheart 💐
I have been worried overnight because the pvc cover between the tills went on the side of my face yesterday and I only remembered now l didn't wash my face after 🙄 it's very worrying , I will just have to be more vigilant 🙄
Right l better shift have a lovely day everyone 😀

Unescorted · 11/01/2021 12:01

We get paid mid month which makes it easier than having an extra week between paydays.- normally it would be ok.

Mrs - that is a worry. Hopefully the air wasn't a virusy enough soup for enough to land on the cover.

Taytocrisps · 11/01/2021 12:18

Not having much luck with my 'To Do' list. I rang the physio earlier but he said they're only dealing with emergency/urgent cases. My dodgy knee probably doesn't fall into that category. He also recommended I get an X-ray or MRI done. But I'm not sure I particularly want to go near a hospital atm.

ememem84 · 11/01/2021 13:31

mrs yep - its not ideal at present. the crazy thing is that schools are back because its deemed safe for teachers to spend all day in a classroom/multiple classrooms with up to 30 children, yet the government aren't meeting in person as its not safe to mix households. go figure.

teaching unions here are threatening legal action against government.

ive just been out for a lunchtime run. in the rain. previously i wouldn't do this. as ick running. and ick rain. dh had lunch waiting for me when i got back. toasted wrap with mushroom and tofu. man i've changed....

on the to do list today:

  • have emailed electrician re works we want done and have also emailed company for cavity wall insulation both for quotes so we know how much we will need to shell out. sigh.
ememem84 · 11/01/2021 14:36

have just read an article in the daily fail about a mum who's done this amazing thing and budgeted to pay off debt. thats the amazing thing. usual things are cited - earn more, lower outgoings, shop cheaper, change energy suppliers. i wish i'd started a blog and earned money from all this.

i do love the daily fail at certain times of year. this time of year is the predictable money savings because we're all skint in january, how to lose weight because january, how to get a hundred days holiday by using 2 annual leave days (slight exaggeration).

i also love the end of october because theres always an article about dogs in fancy dress. i love dogs in clothes. its a weakness of mine

Bornlazy · 11/01/2021 14:49

Hi everyone I've been missing in action ( although not much action to be honest)

Trying to stay frugal. This is a 5 week month for me and feels never ending. I've got ds1's 18th birthday at the beginning of March and we had hoped to buy him a wee car but he can't even sit his theory test due to lockdown 😩 That aspect bothers me a lot as if he could drive he'd be more able to get a part time job

Homeschooling for ds2 started today and I am not convinced that he will try his hardest and that's a worry as this is his Nat 5 year ( Scottish GCSE equivalent) We've had words already.

Mrs try not to worry about the screen touching your face you'd have had your mask on did you not? It's hard not to worry I know.

Nsd today and yesterday. £95 on Saturday on Tesco delivery. I seemed to have missed the best of the sales which is probably no bad thing.

Mrsmadevans · 11/01/2021 16:37

Yes thank you Born l had my mask on thankfully 😊 thank you for reassurring me 🤗
Omg l do empathize re the Nat 5 exams , l really encouraged
nagged and made their lives and mine a misery 🙄

Mrsmadevans · 11/01/2021 16:43

Em are you watching the dog grooming program with Sheridan Smith ? They don't actually dress the dogs up in full costume but they are accessorised think bibs N bows 🤗 . I am amazed l like it because it isn't really my cup of tea but the dogs are adorable 😍
I am not surprised the teachers are up in arms talk about hypocrisy 🙄
