Mum & Dad get their jabs today (2nd for dad from what I can work out). Because of DD being asthmatic we still won't be able to see them - my brother who lives with them insists going to the supermarket every day (and dropping off shopping at 2 other households) so we can't risk it. Case are still stable here - but the areas around have shot up over the last couple of days. It is only a matter of time for us.

I am going for a walk in a mo... over the hills. I need to get out before my head explodes. Nothing is open so it will be a NSD.... must get something out of teh freezer for tea.

4am must have been wake up time sing I was awake then too.

Wolfcub · 09/01/2021 11:08

Burned myself badly yesterday. Painful night.

Fried eggs on English muffins for breakfast. Going to pick up some heat fo eat infirm food for tea. I don't really want to be anywhere near a stove.

Enjoy your walk unescorted

Wolfcub · 09/01/2021 12:53

£15 Indian snack bits for tea
£5 bakery for some baps, fruit tea cakes etc
Went for a short walk with a whingeing teen

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/01/2021 13:03

££ on food. Going to mil for tea and dropping shopping

Lovemaltesers · 09/01/2021 13:55

Hope you are ok wolf? Sounds painful

DM and DF haven’t heard about their jabs yet. Hoping not too long as late 80s, Dm has diabetes and DF has dementia.

Things are not too good with DF, but nothing is happening at the moment. Dmum says she’ll consider help when we speak and then emails me afterwards to say she’d thought about it and no. I need to get onto social services again on Monday as police again last night.

I couldn’t get my jeans on this morning Blush. I can’t stop snacking!

We’re going to look at finances this weekend to see if we can pay any extra off the mortgage. I feel this year will be good to make overpayments if we can’t go anywhere.

Lovemaltesers · 09/01/2021 13:56

Has anyone heard from seacow recently? I guess she must be in the midst of NHS covid Sad

AdoraBell · 09/01/2021 14:32

Hope you are okay wolf

My jeans haven’t fitted for a while now 🤦‍♀️ Gym wear it is. NSD today. I’m making a bread pudding. DH keeps chucking out the ends of the loafs Hmm

AdoraBell · 09/01/2021 14:37

FIL went for a pneumonia jab but was told that he can’t have Covid jab for 6 weeks after that, so he’s put that off until after the Covid one. He’s 87 and SIL, who lives with him, is still swanning around like always because rules only apply to everyone else Angry

Unescorted · 09/01/2021 15:56

That is frustrating adora - your dad's jab not the jeans, although I can relate to not being able to fit into jeans.

wolf ouch... I hate burns.

I had a lovely walk.. just under 7 miles in the snow. I think I will sleep well tonight.

Yeah poor sea. She did say she was taking a SM break for a bit.

OP posts:
northender · 09/01/2021 16:48

That walk sounds lovely unescorted
I did message sea a couple of weeks ago but haven't heard back from her.
Love there has been far too much snacking going on here to recently. Trousers are getting tighter...
Dd got a weighted blanket for her birthday and swears by it sing

northender · 09/01/2021 20:15

Any ideas for using up a pack of filo pastry for a main course? I've got butternut squash and feta so I was thinking of something along those lines

Taytocrisps · 09/01/2021 20:15

It was sooo cold this morning. After taking my time to defrost the car, I set off only to discover that my car door wouldn't stay closed Shock. I think the car was so cold that something in the catch was frozen/not working. So that was fun Hmm - steering with one hand and trying to hold the door closed with my other hand. Luckily I wasn't going very far - just to the bus stop. And there were virtually no cars on the road. The office was pretty chilly as well - there weren't many people in 'cos it's Saturday. Dinner was scrambled eggs on toast. Too tired and cold to make anything more substantial. DD is with Ex this weekend so I just have to feed myself.

Going to have another cuppa (I'm still trying to warm up) and then I'll do the litter trays and maybe watch an episode of 'The Crown'.

DCats are scrapping a lot. I think they're bored being stuck in all the time. I let them out if they want to go out, but they only go out for a minute and then they're straight back in again. They don't like the cold and ice.

Mrs sorry to hear about family problems but glad it's been resolved now. Good news about the vaccinations. I can't wait for my Dad to get his.

north hope you enjoy your spa night.

Love that's a difficult situation with your parents.

Wolf you poor thing - I hope the pain eases. Do you think you might need to go to A&E? Have you gel or something?

Joining in the 'Trousers are getting tighter' club. They must be shrinking in the wash Wink. Couldn't be anything to do with the Christmas chocolates and cheese! I keep thinking about joining a gym and then remembering that the gyms are all closed. Although my knee is a bit stiff and sore atm (old injury which flares up every now and again). I probably need to see a physio.

What about this North?

I'm also in the right trousers brigade. I've put on a chunk since lockdown two, which coincided with a really tough patch at work and home and I comfort ate a lot

Tayto I've no blisters (potentially a couple developing) and I can now open and close my hand. Not in pain anymore (last night was awful) and gel has arrived which has made a massive difference so I think I'm ok. Will keep an eye on it though

Indian snacks were yummy. I'm stuffed now though

I'm already 2.5 books into my reading for this year. Pleased to have made a good start. Lockdown has to be good for something

Gensola · 09/01/2021 21:20

wolf so sorry to hear about your burn, I hope it heals quickly.
I binge read Bridgerton books while sick yesterday - on book 5 now Grin they’re total crap really but just perfect comfort reading.

maddenlightfoot · 09/01/2021 21:56

Ouch wolf, hope it's ok.

Love lockdown must be particularly hard with your mum and dad to think about - your mum really should get extra help, I bet she'd feel like a weight had lifted.

7 miles is great unescorted! We're in that in-between walk age where dds are too big to push or carry but can't go massive distances (although they can do a good 2-3 miles depending on weather, mood, company etc!)

I think I might like a weighted blanket too north - I always have a winter duvet, however hot it is, and the thought of sleeping only under a sheet makes me feel all exposed 😂 - I think the blanket would give me the comfort I crave!

Fairly spendy day today but some spends have been 'money saving'

£58.40 groceries. £6.60 of this is corn tortilla wraps from Amazon - cheapest I've found so I've bought 4 packs.

£12 birthday present for dd (not til March) and £8.40 hairdressing scissors. Ordered these items to qualify for free delivery and the scissors will save money on haircuts (not that we've been for haircuts in the past year but at least it saves the pudding basin look I achieve with the kitchen scissors!)

January:
NSDs: 3/31
Groceries: £103.54/400
Everything else: £107.19/£350

northender · 09/01/2021 22:36

Thanks wolf no spinach, but I'll try an adapted version. I've read one book so far this year, need to decide which to start next.

MsKL · 10/01/2021 00:35

I've name changed, was Dr, but am still here.

Today I spent £19.50 on eliquid (will last me a looooonnnnng time!) And £5.65 on postage.

Tomorrow will be a nsd I think.

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/01/2021 08:10

I got my mil a weight blanket at Christmas. Just a cheap one to try. She loves it and it makes her feel very secure. She suffers badly with MH problems

Wolfcub · 10/01/2021 10:45

Morning all. Miserable weather here so a lazy start to the day.

Will probably spend most of the day reading I think. Maybe plying games if ds wants to

Wolfcub · 10/01/2021 12:34

I bought ds one of the bakedin kits from the Christmas deals so he's currently making chocolate cheesecake brownie.

ememem84 · 10/01/2021 13:29

Oooh that sounds ace wolf

Dd has learned to say hello. She comes into the room and says “aaayyyyyoooooo” so lovely. Smile

Been for a walk/scoot with the dc. Saw some sheepies.

It's tasty wolf.
Sheepies. Cute

Spending day, £190 coffee machine from dh Christmas money, £47 milk man bill, £45 coffee necessities

maddenlightfoot · 10/01/2021 15:21

We've just been out for our daily exercise... yesterday I had a real craving for a take-away coffee and cake so was pretty set on getting one today but didn't in the end so NSD - 4 so far this month!

And got back from the park to find a card from an Aunty with a cheque for £10 (I always tell her not to as I am almost 40 😅). If I ever get around to putting it in the bank il take it off this month's spends but not likely il be near a branch of my bank anytime soon.

SnugglySnerd · 10/01/2021 16:46

We haven't done much today. Few jobs, played with the dcs, random lunch of leftover odds and ends (while I rebranded as "tapas"), sorted out all my lessons for the next couple of days. Feel sort of like we wasted the day but also feel like we've spent some nice time with the dcs without doing much, going anywhere or spending anything which was good.

I think I would like a weighted blanket too. Like Madden I prefer the winter duvet all year round as it is just cosier. Dh really has trouble persuading me to part with it in hot weather!
