Belated Christmas wishes to all, I've been off thread for a while just due to being busy not fallen off the wagon Grin

I did a report on ynab this morning, didn't include pension or proceeds of house in my net worth though. Must do a comparison to last year when I was in debt!

Life quality time for next 5 days so.

I acquired a black Labrador for the night last night, he was wandering and it was getting dark he'd have been killed on the road. He stayed with my girl (neutered) last night but has disappeared since i let him out this morning. Storm coming tonight so I'm making the most of early part drying some clothes and getting out for a walk.

Dc with their dad until 6pm from 4pm yesterday.

Bf had a tough few weeks of being ill and putting his beloved dog to sleep so I ended up with cash in a card. I had bought myself a couple of presents so I'm not as upset as I might have been.

Girlie sorry to hear that about your dd.

Immersion went on Christmas Eve so I'm boiling kettles to wash dishes have an electric shower so ok with that.

Ds asked Santa for a baby turtle but got a plush cuddly toy one, hé accepted this graciously which is a sign of how far he's matured.

Just enough leftovers for my dinner today from turkey and lots of ham for carbonara etc. Had some in my scrambled egg this morning. Very happy with my €5 piece of stuffed turkey, reduced from €10.

North that sounds fab, together but apart.

Tayto that story sounds lovely I must hunt it out. I'd to go to shops last minute on Christmas Eve for mince pies for Santa. Otherwise it would've been a nsd!

I only went back to some of Christmas Eve posts sorry everyone I missed

Unescorted · 26/12/2020 12:57

DD has got up & made me leftovers breakfast..... fried stuffing and roast potatoes with baked beans. It was lush. One dishwasher load of dishes done and big pans washed ( liberal use of foil yesterday has been our friend - I must remember this moment of genius for next time). Only one load to go when someone gets enough energy to do it.... I am admiring the detritus of Christmas past in the hope that my name hasn't been changed to Someone overnight.

Happier - sods law about boiler problems. There has been a lot of it this year.

I may be being stalked.... my name is not Someone and we are almost Christmas free Grin or it could be a happy conincidence.

Spelling an optional extra it appears.

I always use foil trays at Christmas. Not frugal but so easy.
£14 refund on skatepark sessions but booked an extra for Saturday to make up.

Light gales here so movie night

Happierwithouthim · 26/12/2020 15:54

Unescorted it'll be landlady's problem. Last year expansion tank went and I'd no hot water for Christmas either but I'd dishwasher then!!

€12 carwash & newspaper, took a bin bag of stuff out of back of car, dc can be sorting it out later on

maddenlightfoot · 26/12/2020 16:52

Hello... I'm sneaking back in if that's ok? Just getting myself re-acquainted before the new year (the thread always gets really busy in January if I remember rightly - a bit like gyms 😂)

It's been a lovely, quiet Christmas. Now dh is watching football and the girls are watching a film so I'm turning my thoughts to a frugal January.

December has been a spendy month (obvs) but not as spendy as usual with no Christmas socialising.

Our house move is still going ahead. We e just gone through post-survey negotiations and I think all parties are happy, searches and mortgages etc have been done so I'm hoping it won't be too long after the new year.

I've spent about eleventy-million-pounds in my head already on new furniture and decorating. The people were buying from have such lovely taste I'm afraid our tatty old furniture won't live up to the Rightmove photos 😂

Unescorted · 26/12/2020 19:29

Good to see you back madden - you are right re January being busy, along with the exercise and weight loss threads.

When we moved into this house our Ikea receipt was nearly a meter long.

happier the bonus of renting.

I am ready to tuck up and snooze.... but I need to stay awake for University Challenge.

Yes definitely busier jan.

Wolfcub · 26/12/2020 21:03

I always used to rejoin in January after falling off the frugal wagon. I usually made it at least to Easter but never to august

SnugglySnerd · 26/12/2020 22:19

Good to see you Madden.

I have eaten and drank too much today - perfect Boxing Day!!

ememem84 · 27/12/2020 08:06

Morning all. Today is my Boxing Day as yesterday was Christmas no 2 with dsis and dparents. Yay. Thoroughly spoiled by dsis again.

It’s stormy as anything here today. Catface is freaking out because of the wind and rain.

Today we’re having a quiet day. I’ve said to dh I want to do some sorting out but whether that actually happens....

Taytocrisps · 27/12/2020 08:07

I set my alarm early to put out the recycling bin (no point in putting it out last night in the midst of Storm Bella) and feed the cats. Having a cuppa now and some Ferrero Rocher. I had a lovely afternoon with my brother and his family on Christmas Day. DD came home from her Dad's house yesterday so I cooked a half leg of lamb with creamy, garlic potatoes and all the usual veggies. My family always get together for dinner and secret Santa. Last night we had to make do with a virtual present exchange via Zoom (we'd already delivered the presents to the relevant family members but held off on opening them until last night). My sister had prepared a quiz but some people were having problems with their internet connection (maybe because of the storm), so we didn't bother with the quiz in the end. DD and I got cosy on the sofa in front of the fire and watched 'Despicable me'.

I've to drop DD to the big town today. She's meeting her friends in the shopping centre there and doing a bit of shopping. Hopefully the coffee shop will be open and I can pop in for a coffee. Dinner will be lamb curry.

I'll empty the dishwasher in a bit and put on a washload. I'm trying to ignore the existence of the messy roasting dish which I left soaking last night..........

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/12/2020 08:19

Normal Sunday here. DD to stables, rest of us pottering about as DS in covid prison with me.
Nsd planned though

Unescorted · 27/12/2020 09:58

Morning all.

I have done 2 good deeds today - washing on and shed door re secured despite the sleety snow.

I have a huge day to do at the foodbank later..... I have no enthusiasm because there is no heating in the stores and all the tins will have been soaking up the cold. I need to find a plug in heater.

OP posts:
Wolfcub · 27/12/2020 10:17

We are on flood alert here. Luckily the rain has mainly stopped but water flowing down the fields. My first job of the day was to write to the council, again!

Bed stripped and in the wash. Will drag ds out for a walk shortly. He is in the bad books at the moment and is also moody as hell so hopefully fresh air will do him some good

Unescorted brrr that sounds unpleasant. An oil filled radiator is a good investment as it's not as power hungry as a fan heater

Lovemaltesers · 27/12/2020 10:18

Sorry to hear about the self isolating life

Such a tricky time girlie for DD Flowers

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/12/2020 10:45

Fingers crossed you don't flood again. Sorry DS is being trying.

Sending warm vibes your way at the food bank unescorted. I have a pile of stuff to drop at ours when I'm allowed out.

ememem84 · 27/12/2020 10:54

Im in headache central here today. Not booze related. Maybe lack ot water so am sipping at it slowly whilst waiting for painkillers to kick in.

Have just tidied both ds’ and dds rooms. Living room downstairs next. Our room is a mess but that can wait.

Mrsmadevans · 27/12/2020 11:46

Morning everyone 🤗
missed posting yesterday we were so busy and so absolutely knackered & feeling so full and so tired with all the food I'll be glad when it's all gone and back to normal! Hope everybody ok and really enjoying the Christmas holiday and the floods did not affect you, take care everyone, stay safe ❤️

Mrsmadevans · 27/12/2020 11:47

Nsd today and yesterday and Christmas day 😊👏👏👏

northender · 27/12/2020 13:17

life sorry you're having to isolate.
Sorry to hear dd is struggling girlie. As others have said, it will be a hard time anyway as there are so many mixed messages around at this time of year.
Hope you stay clear of flooding wolf

Boxing day bubble & squeak was delish! Dd di a bit of a music quiz last night & we watched Home alone 2. Dh and I managed to get out for a local walk in the morning.
Today dd is at my parents. She has been so looking forward to it as she is very close to my mum but hasn't been going there because of close contacts at school. After school broke up she hasn't been anywhere so that they could come here on Friday & she could go to them today.
We are on turkey & veg soup for lunch & a JO turkey & ham pie for tea which uses up stuffing & gravy too. This afternoon I am going to relax and read.
Tomorrow we are going to go out early for a walk on the coast, before it gets busy.

SingToTheSky · 27/12/2020 13:19

Spendy morning - £450 digital piano :o phoned up for post Christmas sale info and also on the off chance asked if they’d take the seat off to reduce price further as DH got me a lovely one last year :)

Now to figure out what to do with the piano I’ve had 24 years!

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/12/2020 15:32
