Eeeek indeed life

Sing get rid of the TV and the sofa...

wolf the blow heater was given to us by Cadent when they cut the mains gas supply off when fixing a leak further up the road. The electricity is paid for by the County & I feel no love for them after they cut our library, bus, schools and social care budgets in the north of the county to increase it in the south and to top it increased our council tax bill. Cunty Fucking Council as they are known around here. If it was left to me I would have all the electric cars in the area charging in the carpark.

Sorry to hear about your flood status... we have avoided it over this side but it was close during the night for some houses near the river.

Foodbank was not to be today.... there was an alarm going off that is so loud one of our volunteers has tinnitus after 15 minutes of being inside. I have spent the afternoon trying to get someone to turn it off (the control panel is in the adjacent building that we don't have access to...theirs is going off too). Apparently it has been going off since Christmas day - I feel for the people in the houses opposite. Another reason to hate the Cunty Council.

Thankfully we were in to put it out. I tried baking the loaf. I will send the offensive weapon for alarm bashing

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/12/2020 19:03

£51 renewing Beamish membership. Dh going tomorrow with dd

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/12/2020 19:34

Btw Beamish is a northern open air museum

maddenlightfoot · 27/12/2020 19:47

'Cunty council' 😂 - inspired!

We had obligatory bubble and squeak yesterday too! I love it and often save enough from a Sunday lunch to have b&sq Mondays.

Well done on all the nsds. We spent £30 on take-away coffee/cake/sandwiches today whilst walking on the harbour side. It's this time of year I start counting down to frugal January - it's still so far away!!

ememem84 · 27/12/2020 21:35

Nsd. Yippeeee

SnugglySnerd · 27/12/2020 21:38

Crikey Life!

NSD but there are a few things I want to have a look for in the sales (online) e.g. DC birthday pressies.

SingToTheSky · 28/12/2020 00:01

£16ish on amazon - basic phone case and screen protector for DS’ new phone (they each get one bought for them but if they lose/damage it tough shit 😂), got cases for DD and DH as well.

Have spent more online but all from DD1’s Xmas money.

Quick walk in the park today and then finished my assignment. Been quite a nice day really. I don’t feel peopled out like I usually would by this time.

SingToTheSky · 28/12/2020 00:03

I was really craving bubble and squeak today! We had a big fry up, it was epic. Le yum! :o

Yikes at the bread maker fire!

AdoraBell · 28/12/2020 00:22

I was still stuffed from Christmas Day to eat yesterday so it was sandwiches all round. Today I was going to make a pie with the leftovers but realised I still had a huge amount of roast potatoes so used them to top the dish.

Walked into town today, £4-ish on coffee with DD2.

Gensola · 28/12/2020 07:13

My dad sent me £400 in a card from my brother (he died in August) Sad I should put it off my debt but I’d like to get something to remember him by.
I haven’t spent any money in days due to tier 4 but I feel a bit of an audible binge coming on if anyone has any recommendations.
I have a headache and since NHS ping now convinced I have COVID HmmGrin

Unescorted · 28/12/2020 08:25

Gen before you spend money on Audible - check what your library does. Many have a free subscription accessible via your library card. It is also worth noting that you don't have to be resident in the place the library is to use its services. I have cards for Manchester, Derbyshire, Cumbria, Milton Keynes and Kent. Only one of them is Cunty as far as I know. Most are doing an online membership during Covid. If yours doesn't do it then can I recommend Manchester - they also do Press Reader, OED, British Library and free language and coding courses (amongst others)

Hope you are COVID free.

Life Beamish looks really good. I think DD is hoping for a trip to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park (cost is just the parking fee) at some point in the next few days... She needs to do an exhibition report, but they are all closed and have been for ages up here. Her peers who mostly come from London are only just realising how difficult it is to do elements of the course at the moment.

Today is going to be a day of paper stripping and plastering.... DS has finally tidied his room. DH was barking instructions at dinner.... all of which are wrong. I had a quiet word with DS on the ordering. I also need to check if the foodbank alarm is switched off.

Yorkshire sculpture Park is on my to go to list. There is a similar museum to Beamish in Yorkshire but I forget the name. DS went for a school trip.

£51 is an unlimited annual family pass. Can go as often as we please.

Wolfcub · 28/12/2020 08:55

The sculpture park is not too far away from here I go fairly often. Perhaps that's somewhere we can have a meet when this Covid stuff is over

Life it's worth reading "the man who made Beamish" there's a lot of origin in our fair county

ememem84 · 28/12/2020 09:02

Riding today. It is by letting down and also thundery. So that’ll be fun....

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/12/2020 09:21

Sounds good wolf.
I will read that.

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/12/2020 09:22

I started with a cough yesterday so got a test gen. Think it's just a cold. Results roday

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/12/2020 12:21

Negative result whoop whoop. Don't need to stress the in-laws

Wolfcub · 28/12/2020 13:02

Phew Life that must be a huge relief

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/12/2020 13:10

Yes it is.

Taytocrisps · 28/12/2020 13:17

Making a list of things to do in the new year. Not resolutions, just things I need to sort out or organize. So far I have:-

Make appointment for eye test

Make appointment for dental check up for DD

Renew passport for DD

Apply for a new travel card for DD

Phone solicitor re: Deed of Transfer

Get will done

Book car in for service

Get plumber out to install new kitchen tap

Phone vet re: check up for DCat1

Cancel two Direct Debits

Put together a folder of 'Things you need to know' for my brother who has agreed to be my next of kin until DD is old enough to take over.

That's probably enough to be going on with for the moment Smile. I'm always amazed at how much time life admin takes up. And I've only one child! Hats off to those of you with more than one child and/or DC with special needs who have ongoing appointments with medical professionals.

Happierwithouthim · 28/12/2020 13:47

@lifelongfrugaleer

Negative result whoop whoop. Don't need to stress the in-laws
Great news
ememem84 · 28/12/2020 14:18

£35 for the privilege of riding the pony in the bucketing rain. I swear I’ve never been so wet I. My life!

I’m now watching the real housewives of jersey. God help us.

Taytocrisps · 28/12/2020 14:39

Went to apply for a travel card for DD. I can apply for the travel card online but I then need to call (in person) to a validation centre with photo ID. The only photo ID DD possesses is her passport which has expired. So no point in applying for her travel card until I have her new passport.

Went to apply online for a new passport for DD but I need some passport photos before I can do this.

Gave up and made coffee! Luckily I don't need either of the above urgently.

maddenlightfoot · 28/12/2020 14:59

Tayto that's a good idea to list all the things... January is a bit like September for a sudden rush of motivation I find! In answer to your question of why life admin takes so long, I think you've answered that with the travel card/passport/photos - nothing is simple!!

We've been swimming today - paid for earlier in the week - so a nsd other than that.
