I can't believe some of you have snow, and enough for snowballs! We haven't seen a flake since the Beast from the East!

I hope you all have a lovely day tomorrow and that nobody's dcs are up too early!

ememem84 · 24/12/2020 22:26

Ah footprints!!! I was going to do them and hoof prints but the only things I had were flour or bicarb and wasn’t sure I could trust catface not to ruin them!

Unescorted · 24/12/2020 23:03

Santa sacks done.... I just have to get out of bed before they do to hang them up. Then it is vege prep, finish the BF gateaux, wrap the beef...... and then walk up the hill, mulled wine, across to other hill bubbles and present swap... walk down the hill cook dinner Remind me to work out exact timings in the morning before mulled wine and champagne or I may as well not have bothered swapping the beef for the correct size.

DD is in charge of table laying, DS is games master (he doesn't know this yet) DH can clean up the house.....no need to scare him until it is too late to find an excuse.

And then unwrapping the presents, dinner, drinking wine, C4 Queens speech , more eating of snack things, fall asleep on the sofa, wake myself up snoring with a crick in my neck, drink water crawl to bed....perfect Christmas..

DD is heading to bed now. I just have to bring her presents down and pop her stocking bits into the stocking. Her XBox game is in the glove compartment of the car. It's really cold out - I just hope the car isn't frozen solid. I should have retrieved it earlier when she was in the shower. I'm also trying to remember where I stashed her Reese's Pieces......

We decided it was safer not to leave out anything for Santa in case the cats decided to help themselves.

Mrsmadevans · 25/12/2020 04:26

Morning everyone 😀
Up at this ungodly hour because l went to bed at Half 10 😂 that will teach me to go early!

Lovemaltesers · 25/12/2020 07:37

Happy Christmas frugaleers!

DH woke me at 3.30am going to the bathroom, and I think I have only dozed since then. He’s still sleeping now but he told the DC they could wake us at 7.45am so not for much longer Xmas Smile . DC are either asleep or being very good!

Wolfcub · 25/12/2020 07:55

Merry Christmas lovely people. I hope you all have a fabulous day. Ds is still asleep so I'm reading the hogfather in bed with a cup of tea

northender · 25/12/2020 08:12

unescorted am very impressed with your level of prep.
Beautiful sunrise here, wish I wasn't cooking...

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/12/2020 08:36

isawthatt · 25/12/2020 08:54

SingToTheSky · 25/12/2020 13:39

Merry Christmas frugaleers! Caglets didn’t wake up till about half six 😱 we just got back from a trip to the playground.

Actually not an NSD as before I went to sleep after Santa duties I was checking something on the switch and got a game I’ve been wanting in the sale 😳 £12.49

SnugglySnerd · 25/12/2020 22:12

Happy Christmas!

We had a lovely day all things considered. Kids have been fantastic and loved their presents.

Hope you all had a good day too.

ememem84 · 26/12/2020 07:14

Morning all. Up with dd at 630 today.

We had a lovely day yesterday. Dc thoroughly spoiled. But a nice quiet day. None of the usual traipsing round to visit people (Fil aunts and uncles which is customary in Dhs family). So the dc were able to have a lazy morning and play with their toys.

I drove us to dparents and back so am feeling fresh this morning. 😀

northender · 26/12/2020 07:36

Christmas Day was lovely here. Presents for the dc went down really well and the plan to have my parents round worked perfectly. They brought a folding table and a festive tablecloth and set up camp in the conservatory. The conservatory is at the back of the living room so we had the double doors open meaning that we were able to be together but distanced.
My frugal skills will be challenged over the next few days trying to use up the leftovers, but I love that challenge! Today will be bubble and squeak with leftover veg. I'll also cook the turkey carcass to make a Christmas leftover soup. The way we cook the turkey and ham creates stock too so it really is the tastiest base for the soup. We've spent a fortune on food & drink but nothing will go to waste.
Didn't manage to get out for a walk yesterday so will hopefully do that today. Cocktails may be on the menu as ds loves his cocktail set and needs practice!

ememem84 · 26/12/2020 07:48

Heading for a walk today with the dc and am itching to get out for a run as soon as dh gets up.

No leftovers here as Dm cooked. But am hoping she sends me home today with loads!!!

She’s doing a Turkey crown and a ham today as well as smoked salmon and prawns and yummy things.

Her leftovers usually include a Turkey and ham pie, leftover soup, bubble and squeak rostis with eggs on top (yum -usually for brunch), she’s done a Turkey and ham carbonara in the past too.

But same as north nothing goes to waste.

Wolfcub · 26/12/2020 08:23

Morning all no leftovers here as they are at dparents but the fridge is groaning and we need some careful planning to ensure everything is eaten before it's dates. We also had a nice day it was fairly chilled. I do feel I will have dishpan hands for sometime though. Also hoping for some fresh air today although bad weather is promised

Dfriends are bringing us our evening meal as we should have been at theirs and announcements were made after shopping was done

Got my next years house insurance quote this morning, after the flood the premium has gone up by £150. Boiler insurance has also gone up a fair bit.

Unescorted · 26/12/2020 09:23

Morning all & a belated Happy Christmas sorry I was awol yesterday. I woke up at 4:30 feeling as rough as a dog with period pains last experienced when I was a teen.

So the plans went out the window, but we managed to cobble together a lovely day. Slightly later than planned.

Best bits: it snowed, there were no arguments, wine was drunk (except by me, but they have left me some for today), everyone bought & received daft presents ( I am now the proud owner of a long skinny hot water bottle called Seth - very welcome yesterday). The napkins were suitably admired. It was a top drawer kitch Christmas.

Today is clearing up and putting the fence back up. I might go for a wild walk before it gets really wild.

SingToTheSky · 26/12/2020 09:44

Morning!

Aw unescorted sorry about the period pain 😨 I love the named hot water bottle :o

North you’ll definitely have to be guinea pigs for cocktail practice. It’s a parent’s duty. 🍸

Wolf that’s so nice that your friends are still bringing the meal!

Hi to everyone else as I’ve forgotten what else I was going to say ❤️

Nice chilled day here too, lovely presents all round, for the first time we had a Christmas Day walk too.

Spends £35 on switch related stuff.

I only just woke up after 9! Everyone else is still asleep so I’m watching The Middle :o

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 26/12/2020 09:46

Morning all, we had a nice day and all did very well on the present front!

Dd is not doing well with eating at all though so hoping Camhs can put in some extra support. She's not back at school till the 11th so not sure how that's going to work with my work.

Unescorted · 26/12/2020 10:07

Ohhh Girlie - I guess Christmas piles on extra pressure too with all the post Christmas messaging about weight loss and fitness.

north - that is a genius Christmas present... I have lost out, dd is a Stella and bitter girl. She is not a fan of cocktails unless they are the old fashioned less sweet type. She & I share a love of Campari & soda in the summer.

Sing I am planning walk today. If only to avoid the clearing up.

Bornlazy · 26/12/2020 10:24

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas ♥
I enjoyed my day immensely but so much work prepping and cooking the dinner. Lazy day for me today don't think I'll even get dressed.

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/12/2020 10:47

So. DS and I have had the NHS ping and have to isolate for 5 days. Think it was the skatepark to blame.
Moved today's plans to nyd.

Sorry DD is struggling, there is lots of pressure of extra food and the the diet after this time Of year.

Lots of leftovers here. Been googling recipe to use them up.

Nsd yesterday and today. Cba with the sales. Nothing we want or need.
