Em I love the planning - it is in the execution that I lack enthusiasm.

Tayto - Amazon and a lovely lurker came to my rescue. It hasn't arrived but I have it ordered.
Yes she is very arty.... She has hung loads of her pictures so I can see them when I am sat at my desk.

Morning everyone 😀
Happy Christmas Eve 😁
Just off to MumBobs , have 2 prescriptions to pick up after them bit of a mountain of ironing up Bob's to do but that is ok ☺️
Bob put Mum's hearing aids in the denture pot complete with Steredent 😂 if l don't laugh I'd cry 🤣 they have been in a bag of rice overnight 😂
Have a lovely day everyone 😀

Lovemaltesers · 24/12/2020 09:01

Fell off the thread, but not been too unfrugal here.

Wrapping is all done. DH collected the turkey earlier and the shop was quiet.

DC are excited.

Happy Christmas MumBob! My Dmum does my head in shouting at my DDad when he loses his hearing aids, which is rather frequently. Hope the hearing aids recover!

I’m lowering my cleaning standards for Christmas as only my parents are coming to our house. I normally stress about PIL coming into our house and have a proper cleaning frenzy . I might mop the floor though, cos it is Christmas Xmas Grin

snuggly I used to really struggle without the time to myself. It’s better now DD2 is at school and I still have my day off. That day will come...

We’re escaped a tier move for Boxing Day so far. We’re about 5 miles from Hampshire though.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 24/12/2020 11:00

Merry Christmas Eve everyone!!

Things are okay here, dd up and down but I think the enforced simple ness of Christmas this year is probably good for her.

Payday was Ystd so that was good, my dad gave us some money for Christmas so I've booked myself and dd a haircut for next week. We're both really overdue!!

isawthatt · 24/12/2020 11:05

Hiya all! Merry Christmas Eve!!. Our house is absolutely rabid with excitement😂. We’ve had our candy cane hunt (pics attached) and pancakes for breakfast!. We’re off to deliver everyone’s presents now, and then have a lazy day watching films before a walk later. I hope you’re all having a nice Christmas Eve, we all deserve it!. DS2 has his little elf costume on, he really looks like an elf with his pointy ears!.

Thank you tayto I’m feeling much better now. I barely slept last night for anxiety but I’m feeling much more positive now!. It’s crazy that it’s been almost a year of this, I remember thinking it’ll all be over in 3 weeks😂. We love polar express here, the DC are scared of a muppets Christmas Carol but it’s DH’s favourite so we watch it without the kids.

mrs thank you, feeling a lot better now!. I can’t wait for Christmas next year, it’ll be so lovely to be back with family. I love Lidl mince pies and I don’t usually like mince pies!. Happy Christmas to MumBob!

em well done on getting all the wrapping finished!.

We need haircuts girlie! I might go old school and cut everyone’s myself!.

We shouldn’t spend too much today, I might get a few things from the shops for snacks later.

Oh my - this Christmas gets weirder and weirder...

had to do a quick dash to Morrisons to replace the beef fillet - it said 1.2kg on the pack and weighed 744g [grr]. They swapped it for a much larger one than I paid for.... happy days

And it is now Snowing...... Hassar!

£88 dentist. £60 of that was whitening gel though.

£18 breakfast out. Bacon rolls and coffee in the car.

Taytocrisps · 24/12/2020 12:40

I was at the shop for 8.40 and collected my lamb and fresh bread.

I've sorted my recycling mountain (everything else will have to go in a bag under the stairs until I get my bin emptied). I've emptied the dishwasher and put on a washload. Having a quick break before I tidy the dining room and pull out the hoover.

I've given DD her list of chores and she's done her usual strop - it wouldn't be Christmas without a teenage strop. I reminded her that Santa is watching and asked if she wanted to swap her list with mine (she didn't). She's getting on with it now.

It's a beautiful Christmas Eve here - a frosty start but blue skies and sunshine.

I was listening to the radio earlier and caught Anne Enright reading an extract from her book 'The Green Road'. I've read the book already but it's the bit where the mother goes to the supermarket to do the big Christmas shop. She buys everything but the kitchen sink (and pays the very unfrugal sum of €400+ Xmas Shock) and is making her way back to the car, relieved to be done with the hell that is a supermarket at Christmas when her phone rings and it's her mother. And then she realized that she never bought sprouts - and her mother loves sprouts. So she goes back to buy the sprouts. And picks up a few other things. And is making her way back to the car for the second time when she remembers the potatoes....... It was very funny. I was telling DD and saying (very smugly) that she should have written a list, when DD pointed out that I'd forgotten mine when I went shopping. Thanks DD!

It's definitely the weirdest Christmas ever but I'm grateful for what I have - an amazing family, a fab daughter (when she's not having teenage strops), a warm house, lots of food and wine and books to read. Not to mention the company and support from all you lovely frugaleers. Merry Christmas to you all and here's to a better year in 2021!

Taytocrisps · 24/12/2020 12:50

Gorgeous photos is. How adorable is that elf! Give him a big squishy hug from me.

Mrsmadevans · 24/12/2020 17:32

Mrsmadevans · 24/12/2020 17:36

Tayto love the sound of that book 👏👏👏 you have been mega busy! Aren't we so lucky to have our beloveds ❤️❤️❤️

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/12/2020 18:57

Christmas is ruined. Aldi have put orange and congnaque in my Wensleydale and cranberry cheese. Bastards

ememem84 · 24/12/2020 19:30

Peak Christmas excitement reached here. Carrots (about 10 of them) put outside for reindeers. And squash out for Santa to drink. Wouldn’t Santa like a nice gin? No mummy.

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/12/2020 19:39

Santa gets milk here and a mince pie. 9 carrots one for each reindeer.
Home alone and rise of the Guardians movie marathon before bed

ememem84 · 24/12/2020 19:47

Ds is insistant that only Rudolph and Donna the reindeers are coming.

I just read this and realised I forgot about Wensleydale with cranberries. We have none! Xmas Sad Had a lovely day prepping food and so on. Just waiting to make sure dcs are actually properly asleep before doing stockings.
Wolfcub · 24/12/2020 19:56

Evening lovelies. I hope you are all having as good a Christmas Eve as possible in these strange times. It's certainly been a weird one here

Cars all swapped over which has taken most of the day. Cost me £69 for six months tax (so the renewal isn't always at Christmas) and an extra £50 on insurance.

Emergency shop for a missing card £6

Chorizo pork pie and salad for lunch, tricolore salad and sourdough for tea. We normally have steak but I thought I'd save that for next week.

We watched Arthur Christmas this afternoon.

It snowed here earlier, didn't settle, it still doesn't feel like Christmas to me

Wolfcub · 24/12/2020 19:56

Life that would ruin Wensleydale for me too. I hate orange

isawthatt · 24/12/2020 20:14

All ready for the morning!. We’ve all come up to bed now, a very early night here and I’m super happy that everything is sorted, no need to be awake at 2!. I think it’s the earlier we ever have gone to bed at Christmas. I had a glass of gin and lemonade tonight but I haven’t had a drink in ages, I feel very woozy!. My babies had a brilliant day today. It was quite difficult seeing family on the doorstep but so lovely to see everyone. It was so difficult not to give everyone cuddles, especially my younger sisters.

I’m very jealous of the snow unescorted!

God you’ve got loads done today tayto, I can never be bothered to do anything this time of year. It’s really nice to reflect on what we’re grateful for. The little elf got many big squishy hugs today! Is there anything cuter than a baby elf. I love the sound of that book.

Thank you mrs, I’m glad your mum and bob are having such a lovely Christmas and great going getting the hearing aids sorted!.

Oh life how annoying!

em aww how funny is your DS!

Santa has got 2 shortbread biscuits, a Mars, a twin, 2 candy canes and the reindeer’s have some reindeer food. Everyone has some milk!.

Goodnight all, probably won’t be on much tomorrow so will take this time to say a very merry Christmas to you all. I hope you have a lovely day with the people you love, even if it isn’t in person!.
