Hope he’s not a sore loser em 🙈 I love a bit of scrabble.

£12ish on two frames for DSDs’ present (prints from Etsy)

£150ish on tesco shop for tomorrow 😳 a fair bit is presents (have put together a hamper of naice food/toiletries for DSDs who moved out together this year, and got some kopparberg gin - who knew?! - for DSS’ GF) as well as obv most of the Christmas food and supplies for the next week as we still don’t know if we can go out. Here’s hoping for a result tomorrow Hmm

Mrsmadevans · 18/12/2020 23:09

49 in Lidls , 35 Tesco, 6 in willow bought my Christmas cards for next year .

Gensola · 18/12/2020 23:27

I went a bit mad today and ordered two jumpers online - I’ve done a clear out of my clothes and I’m really short on nice everyday jumpers that don’t make me look like a bag lady.
I also need tops or smartish t shirts. I’m okay for jeans and shoes. I’d like some day dresses to wear with tights. No idea where to start and am about a stone heavier than I was in March thanks to IVF and lockdown comfort drinking/eating. Maybe I should wait to buy new things.

Spent today baking a cake and making a lasagne to take to MIL tomorrow. She will proceed to insult it in some way Grin we are also doing them a big shop and getting other essentials for them and dropping off their Xmas presents. We won’t go in so at least I won’t have to look at her carefully positioned pictures of DH at his first wedding...

SingToTheSky · 18/12/2020 23:54

MIL sounds like a barrel of laughs gen 😑

£4ish tissue paper for wrapping (makes stockings last longer at whatever godforsaken hour they wake up at 😴)

£20 on Etsy but that’s DD1’s Christmas presents for friends so it’s coming out of pocket/Xmas money

isawthatt · 19/12/2020 00:03

Hiya, didn’t spend much today. DH picked up 2 lots of kids paracetamol which came to £4, also got chips for tea which came to £20. Hopefully won’t have to spend too much now. Doing the weekly shop on Sunday and will get final Christmas bits.

girlie that sounds very frustrating regarding the money. It’s nice to hear your DD had a lovely last day.

Hi wolf

I hope you enjoyed your day gen, it’s nice to treat yourself.

I hope you can get the heating sorted soon sing that sounds like a nightmare.

Sorry about the new restrictions sing

I’m in Wales and we’re locking back down on the 28th. Kids schools will still be open but I’m worried about sending them in, cases are still rising where I am. It’s difficult to see an end to this!.

isawthatt · 19/12/2020 00:10

Oops missed a pageBlush

sing I love the koppaberg gin, I prefer it to the cider I find that too gassy!. Fingers crossed the test arrives tomorrow🤞🏻

mrs you’re very organised, I haven’t even delivered this years cards yet😂. Slightly worried as I usually buy cards and wrapping paper in the Boxing Day sales but that won’t be happening this year, hopefully I can find some cheap ones.

Gen I’m struggling to find jumpers that I like at the minute. I usually live in them this time of year but nothing seems to be my taste!. Sorry about your MIL 💐

Right I need to try and sleep, been awake since 3am yesterday. DD has been sick once more and I’m feeling quite crap, so it doesn’t look like I’ll be sleeping much tonight either ☹️

Mrsmadevans · 19/12/2020 06:51

Morning everyone 😀
Is l always buy mine in the sales but they had these lovely cards in Wilko's half price and l could not leave them there 😜
Bobbos Birthday tomorrow l am doing a massive food hamper for him 😀
Have a lovely day everyone 😀

Gensola · 19/12/2020 08:38

isawthat I think I will end up returning one of them actually, maybe both as neither is my usual style but I feel in a rut so I deliberately bought stuff that’s a bit different. I’ve been following Emily Innes who resigned from Styled by Susie and really like her outfit ideas so one of my New Years resolutions is to overhaul my wardrobe!

northender · 19/12/2020 09:22

Morning. Have been following, but just didn't feel like posting. Had a horrible last weekend, had this sudden anxiety/depression type feeling descend & couldn't stop crying. Felt overwhelmed by the arrangements for a Christmas where we won't be seeing anyone & just wanted to run away and hide.
Anyway I do feel better than I did & being back at work after days off was definitely a help. Lots of people seem to be feeling it at the moment. We only really had a month out of restrictions this year & I think patience is wearing thin.
So, in frugal news, we decided to sell my car. Dh is wfh, ds has a car which he can't drive as his test keeps being postponed, so it seemed pointless keeping mine. We will help ds out with the cost of his. Couldn't be bothered trying to sell it privately so went to webuyanycar and got £500. Not bad for a car I bought 5 years ago for £1800.
Dh did his tax return and is owed £500.
Pil have given dh & I money for Christmas so I'm planning to upgrade my gym clothes.
We need one more shop to get us through Christmas, planning to send dh on Monday.
Getting parcel ready to send to Devon on Monday too then that'll be all posting done.

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/12/2020 11:20

(((Hug))) to you North. A lot of people are at the end at the moment and it's ok not to be ok. Liking the car plan and can really recommend Lucy locket loves bottom and gym shark tops

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/12/2020 11:21

£78 Aldi, £16 Iceland, amended sains and redeemed nectar points so that currently £1.85

SingToTheSky · 19/12/2020 11:34

North 💖 sorry you feel so crap.

DS’ covid result is negative, phew.

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/12/2020 12:30

Phew
House cleaned

ememem84 · 19/12/2020 12:49

£35 riding. Fell off. That’ll learn me to try and canter a jump when neither me or pony were clearly ready!

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/12/2020 12:50

Ouch.

isawthatt · 19/12/2020 15:17

I was hoping for a NSD but we’re going to buy a few Christmas films on prime to watch this evening. Not sure how much it will come to yet, but they’re good to have. DD’s feeling much better, still not herself but hasn’t been sick and is on the up. We’re going for a walk today to deliver the cards, I think some fresh air will do us good. Also pic attached of DD learning to knit the other night when she was poorly, I was quite impressed with her. She might be able to help me do some jumpers one year.

mrs I might have a look in wilko’s then! I do like getting some nice Christmas cards for everyone. Happy Birthday to Bob 🎉

Gen I might join you with the wardrobe overhaul! I definitely need to sort through my clothes, I seem to wear the same thing on repeat.

Sorry to hear you weren’t feeling to good north, so many people are struggling this year especially. I hope you’re feeling better now.

Great news sing

Ouch em hope you’re okay!.

Frugaleer Festive Fun
lifelongfrugaleer · 19/12/2020 16:29

Happy birthday Bob.

£2 matches, 65p spring onion, free slow cooker and Tupperware from scout hut. SC was mine anyway.

Gensola · 19/12/2020 16:40

north sorry to hear you’re feeling low. Flowers Cake

Looks like our Christmas at home is cancelled. Trying not to be a twat about it but feeling rubbish. First Christmas without my brother and my poor mum isn’t able to see any of her children. This is fucking shit - mishandled by Boris and his twats.

Anyway, MIL was suitably rude about the food we brought, said we chose the wrong milk (we got the milk she asked for) and initially liked the flowers we gave her until DH told her they were from sainsburys.

Wolfcub · 19/12/2020 16:46

Ah North sorry to hear you are feeling down, it's been a tough year for you. How are dd and Ds doing? I also recommend LucyLockets

Isaw great knitting

Happy birthday Bob

Em, ouch hope you are ok

Song great news on the test

Currently rapidly adjusting my ocAdo shopping order as Boxing Day plans now cancelled, sadly my Waitrose order shut at lunchtime so I'm going to have enough wine for one for about two months and I will send dessert round to my friends, she's sending lunch here for the same reason

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/12/2020 17:07

You need mil bingo gen.
Rubbish re plans. I now need to change boxing Day fgs. And Christmas Eve.

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/12/2020 17:15

Sorry about y ou not seeing DM. Too.
Tis shit

Unescorted · 19/12/2020 17:48

North It is no wonder you are feeling drained and anxious. We are just on the GM border so have escaped the worst of it, but have lots of friends who are affected. It is the uncertainty that is having the biggest toll on them - Our bubble was going to visit his mum in London. Now he gets to spend it with us. I feel sorry for him because he feels he can't say it is shit without offending us. To be fair I am happy for to be open about it being a 2nd choice offering, but he is too polite.

SingToTheSky · 19/12/2020 18:07

We appear to be still in tier 2 despite big increases in cases. Won’t be seeing anyone else though as the plan was to see them on the other days. One friend is in tier 4 and will be totally alone. Although I know it’s quite tense when he goes home to stay with his mum so I guess there’s a silver lining somewhere. 😣

northender · 19/12/2020 19:17

Oh gen I really feel for you. Sending virtual hugs
Thanks for all your lovely wishes. I feel much better than a week ago, back on a more even keel. Da is getting quite down now, DD has finished her mocks so is relieved.
DH has ordered a 14 pound turkey for 6 of us! So frugal turkey recipes will be needed!

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/12/2020 20:38

Turkey curry obviously
Pie
Hot sandwich with cranberry sauce and gravy
Chips and pickles
