Em l suppose that is what it costs though and there is nothing nicer than having a lovely wrapped present to open when you are a little one Smile
Unescorted can you find it in your history love? I am always doing that Grin

Unescorted · 16/11/2020 17:54

Thank you Mrs.... disaster averted.

Bornlazy · 16/11/2020 20:04

Total disaster here today. 10 weeks into ds 1's college course that leads onto an electrician apprenticeship they have discovered that he is probably slightly colour blind. I am in the panic stage right now as that'll be a whole year wasted but nothing I can do about it 😞 Apparently 1 in 12 males suffer from it.

Mrsmadevans · 16/11/2020 20:10

Born that is such bad luck l am so sorry Flowers your poor Ds.

northender · 16/11/2020 20:34

Oh no Born that's so frustrating & upsetting, I feel for you & your D's. Will there be any other options this academic year?

northender · 16/11/2020 20:42

Thanks all for the birthday wishes. I had a really lovely day, but need a week of exercise now as I've obviously taught the DC well in cake & cheesecake making!!

ememem84 · 16/11/2020 21:17

unescorted nz doesn’t have amazon!! But I’ll absolutely be buying online in future.

Bornlazy · 16/11/2020 21:24

Glad you enjoyed your day north.

We will need to see what the college say. There are tests online that give you a good idea as to whether you are visually colour impaired and it looks like ds2 is affected too. Which at least gives us the heads up when it comes to choosing careers for him. I only wish I'd known about them before.

Lovemaltesers · 16/11/2020 21:25

£101 for postage is Shock That’s almost my entire budget for my 7 nieces and nephews presents for Christmas Blush

DH has spoken to his boss today. He is feeling better for getting it said🤞

I think I’ve had a NSD. I can’t remember buying anything anyway Grin

Lovemaltesers · 16/11/2020 21:26

Sorry to hear that born . Don’t opticians test for colour blindness when you have a sight test?

Lovemaltesers · 16/11/2020 21:29

I’ve just googled the answer to my own question born . It says not. I’m surprised by that.

Bornlazy · 16/11/2020 22:42

Well done on nsd love

DS has never been to the opticians. He's had eye tests in school but that's it. He's going tomorrow for the works 😩

Should specify the £101 was post for presents for dnephews ( two of them) and Mils Christmas gifts plus one nephews 2nd birthday gifts. Not that it makes it any better.... £25 of that was additional post charges (the £5 on the kilo).

I’m trying to justify it to myself....it’s insane. Definetly next year no gifts leave the island for them. All online.

Am sitting on floor in dds room currently. Sigh. She just woke up coughing and is now fussing about going back to sleep. Might be crossword time....

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/11/2020 07:00

Oh dear born. Does it completely rule out or does it depends on the significance? I know the obvious can't tell wires apart.

Mad planned today. £66 Sainsbury's yesterday but mil owes me some money now

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/11/2020 07:03

Forgot £449 car insurance.

Happierwithouthim · 17/11/2020 08:32

born your poor ds if he'd his heart set on it.

NSD Sun and Mon today I will buy briquettes, firelighters and maybe some logs. I've got coal and kindling but need more than that to keep fire going.

Ds has told me that the aldi pepperami aren't good, he's one of those children that if he takes a set against something that's it. I've put them in his lunchbox again today as I bought a pack of 10 will see what happens. He also didn't eat his cajun chicken, it was tesco, he likes the lidl one Shock

mad that's kind of what I'm leaning towards too, I could get something to cast from my phone to old tv maybe just for my own room I guess, to use old tv or else use it in ds's room for his nintendo switch which Santa will probably bring. It's huge though.

Love that's good about your dh - sometimes the thought of having 'a talk' is worse than actually doing it.

Oh gosh born your ds 😥. Really hope it won't hold him back.

NSD yesterday and first day of not shopping survived. Have had to make slight adjustments to the meal plan as children are isolating so more snacks needed and they usually eat at the childminders x 3 per week.

Also my plan of using cash in purse now doesn't work as dh has ordered something for eldest dd Xmas from marketplace and we need cash.

Still hoping for

Happierwithouthim · 17/11/2020 09:58

Hope dc are ok

Good news ds2 has passed the colour eye test at an optician this morning. We have emailed a copy of his pass to the test people and will need to wait and see if they agree to pass him 🤞 The optician said a lot of people fail it when they are doing it on a computer screen as the colours don't show up so well.

Spends today £15 on breakfast in Tesco to celebrate and £100 in Tesco on slippers and pyjamas for Christmas as they have 25% off clothes for clubcard holders. I got the most amazingly soft, fur slippers that feel just like one of my cats 😻

Happier my dc still do that usually once I've stocked up on something 😬

CurlsandCurves · 17/11/2020 14:37

@Bornlazy that’s great news about your DS, hope he can crack on with college now.

Weekly food shop today. I never put how much I spend on here because honestly it’s embarrassing. And that’s with meal planning, I’m not just floating around the supermarket chucking things in at random. Oh well, at least we can afford it which is a blessing.

Meeting with an FA tomorrow to look at our insurance policies now DH is no longer self employed. So there’s a couple of policies he will no longer need, but he will need to be added onto ones that were just me and the kids. No idea how this will leave things but I’m really hoping he can save us some money.

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/11/2020 17:27

Great news born. How long is the 25% off on for?

I spend hundreds of £ on food curls. With little planning if has to be said

Unescorted · 17/11/2020 20:52

born hope it is good news with the college.

em how do they survive without Amazon atm. DD uses our Prime to order up all sorts... cocktail set, professional hairdressing kit. Can't wait for her to get back to try those out.

Ds' school has COVID. Well one of the students has at least. Not good news because mocks are in a couple of weeks - which will be used for grading if this goes on until July.

northender · 17/11/2020 22:14

unescorted there have been 2 cases in dad's year but she hasn't had to isolate yet. Mocks are causing major stress here.
Born that sounds like good news. Fingers crossed

Bornlazy · 17/11/2020 22:31

Life on until 23/11 I think.

Ds1's girlfriend has had to isolate twice now for 14 days due to class contact. She is sitting her Highers this year so is due to sit exams. It's not brilliant for her but she's very clever so will probably cope. If that happens to my ds2 then it'll be a totally different story as he needs much more support from the teachers and he's very lazy and only works when constantly prompted

ememem84 · 18/11/2020 08:29

no idea how they do it without amazon. Dbil has an account (because he used to live here) so can use it to send things to us or to fil. but not to NZ. it's crazy
