Good luck curls

Lovely to see laska and wreck and others

We’ve been pretty frugal this half term, but spent most of our wedding gift vouchers now. Good move it seems, as places will shut soon for a month.

We’ve booked for dinner out on Wednesday evening, many because we’ve been there before and there is proper social distancing between tables.

ememem84 · 01/11/2020 21:19

Busy few days here.

Gym on Friday then came home to get Dd to nap (she didn’t). Whilst perusing emails I discovered that all of my Amazon parcels had got stuck at customs because I had to pay tax on them. Our demjnimis level has been lowered to £135. And tax is due on anything over that amount. Apparently though parcels are being stopped snd grouped together. So I had to fill in a form send emails to people to prove that the total combined value of my items was £121. Sigh.

But they got delivered today.

£33 at zoo today in the gift shop. Snuggly lemur, snuggly flamingo a new cup for ds and some ice cube trays for dsis for Christmas. As a zoo member I get 10% off the shop and cafe. Wahooo!! We had a lovely time.

SnugglySnerd · 02/11/2020 06:36

Back to work today. I woke up at half 5. Sadly this doesn't mean I can get to work really early to get sorted as I have to wait for nursery to open at half 7. It is absolutely pouring with rain. I want to stay in bed!!

Wolfcub · 02/11/2020 07:05

Back to work here too. I don't want to log on

ememem84 · 02/11/2020 07:08

We tried crying it out last night with dd. I told dh I didn’t want to but he insisted. He actually told me he didn’t need to hear me crying and whinging about it too.

I went in with dd at 1030. After an argument with dh because I thought she sounded distressed. And also She hadn’t slept yet. He is of the opinion that this is something we have to do to make her sleep and it’ll only be a week.

I’m of the opinion that it’s cruel. And also she’s teething and has a bit of a cough and a cold. So unfair on her to do this now. At least wait until she’s better.

Anyway. I slept on the floor in Dds room. She only woke up once.

WreckTangled · 02/11/2020 07:09

I'm back to work today too but wfh. Will see what the scoop is. Also other parents seem to think that the after schools sports clinics (that start this week) will still be on. I'm hoping they won't do I don't have to pay but will wait and see what emails come from school today.

WreckTangled · 02/11/2020 07:11

I'm not adverse to sleep training em but think controlled crying is better than CIO says the person who still lies with their 7 year old whilst he gets to sleep every single night they're not little forever Grin

ememem84 · 02/11/2020 07:17

That’s what I wanted to do wreck. Thing is Dd used to sleep well. We’d put her to bed snd she’d just nod off after a minute or too.

I think we’re dealing with:

Developmental phase
Growth spurt
Teething
Cold

So perfect storm really.

CurlsandCurves · 02/11/2020 08:27

Morning!

@ememem84 I guess the one positive you can hang onto is that you know she knows how to sleep, she’s just struggling to do it at the moment for various reasons. She just needs you a bit more at the moment. Rather than crying it out, maybe try pick up out down or rapid return? That way she’s not left feeling abandoned.

Although if her not sleeping is due to all the reasons you’ve said, she doesn’t need sleep training . Talking round in circles here 😆

Boys haircut today. I heard that one local barbers is opening from 5.30am till 11pm until lockdown. Can’t say I blame them, they need to earn while they can. My friend who cuts the boys hair has just recently retrained, we’ve been getting free cuts for the last few months. And she’s only charging us a fiver each today. Will get a bottle of something for her as a thank you.

Mrsmadevans · 02/11/2020 10:04

Morning everyone 😀
Off to pick some chestnuts 🤗😑
Wreck controlled crying is really effective you are right imho😀🤗
Em 💐💜
I agree if DD is not well then it is not kind to leave them to cry ☺️

Happierwithouthim · 02/11/2020 11:51

20% off the projector so I bought it today at £55.99 using my free month of Amazon Prime.

Monday already??

So far I've spent £3.80 on Burts lentil waves from Waitrose, I can't find them anywhere else and wanted to stock up in case the office locks down next week.

I also want to pick up a few bits from Uniqlo.

The wind last night was so loud, felt like I'd only had five minutes sleep!

Happierwithouthim · 02/11/2020 16:41

Ds will be 7 next Monday
Just spent €31.98 on personalised sweets bags for him and dd, they're 1kg each pack and used disc code for free shipping, had another one for 25% off but it didn't work on personalised bags.

€44.98 in smyths on some lego and a board game for him also.

We did go to Tesco to look at cakes last week, he didn't pick one yet. There's only the 3 of us to eat it, and if I deliver pieces of cake to neighbours they'll feel obliged to get him a present. There were small cakes, he wasn't keen, figured they were too small. Again I repeat there's 3 of us to eat it. Might see if I can convince him to get a cream bun instead.

Spent 16 in local bargain place called Baileys, 7 in home bargains & 5 in Waitrose while getting Dh prescription. Lots of lovely things in Waitrose .

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/11/2020 18:55

££#£ on line shopping.

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/11/2020 19:24

Manga Books have arrived Mrs and they look good. Thank you Thanks

Shite first day back at work. I am thoroughly fed up with it all at the moment and I now have to be on call during my Xmas leave. Grumpy

AdoraBell · 02/11/2020 19:34

£11 in Sainsbury’s

Mrsmadevans · 02/11/2020 21:40

Wolf you are very welcome Smile
Sorry about you being on call over Christmas, it really sucks having to be on call, l remember l was on call for Christmas day one year and l was on tenterhooks all day , l would have rather worked and known what l was doing , sorry lovely Flowers

maddenlightfoot · 02/11/2020 21:41

Back to work here too. Interesting inset training (with lunch!) but because all windows and doors have to be open we all sat freezing in our coats all day.

It was almost a nsd but I've just ordered my mum some wool and puzzles to keep her busy in lockdown. £35.

ememem84 · 02/11/2020 21:42

£35 drs. And £8 pharmacy. I’ve changed my meds. I’ve really struggled the last week or so. I think Dd not sleeping has made things a million times worse.

Tonight I’ve told dh I won’t be crying it out.

Instead I sat and ignored Dd for 20 minutes (unheard of!) and put her back down every 2 minutes or so. She went to sleep at 816. She’s woken up once since but I put her back down and she’s back to sleep.

I know I’ll have to get up with her in the night. But fingers crossed for an easier night.

Laska2Meryls · 02/11/2020 21:56

Hi Wrecktangled! good to see you..
I managed to get a hair appointment today which ( vain as I am, but with a pixie cut ) I was really pleased to get.. So I am now shorn.. ( and its really short this time as I asked for a 'boy cut' ).. but it will last me at least if we are on lockdown more than the 4 weeks Grin -last lockdown I had to resort to DH using the clippers on me ..

We have picked up our hire van to go an empty out the house on the mainland this weeek that DH has been living in during the week while he has been working away all these last few years (and which is due to complete the sale hopefully this week or next - but who knows now?).. Hopefully it will as its his only pension and hes not had any income since he retired last year ( we've been doing it up to sell) .
the hire c van company told him that they could have rented it out 10 times today at more than we paid, as so many people want to move before lock down.. Luckily we had already paid !! We will have to change plans though to get it done and get back on Thursday, ..

Laska2Meryls · 02/11/2020 22:00

Hair cut was only £20 though( its amazingly cheap in our hairdresser and shes really good but I did give her a £10 tip this time as she fitted me in at 40mins notice ).. I also spent over £50 Boots today though stocking up .. ....nothing that I wouldn't have normally bought, but not usually all at once

Wolfcub · 03/11/2020 06:23

Morning all been lying awake since 3 need matchsticks for eyelids

Laska hopefully you can get packed up and moved in record time

Em hope dd slept
