Ugh! Half term over so back to remote teaching and home schooling. I feel more grumpy about the end of the school hols than I normally do! I wish I was going back to the lovely year 8 class I normally teach on a Monday morning and seeing my colleagues. Goodness knows when that will happen.
Have spent a lot on Amazon over the weekend. Mostly in quite boring things like pull ups and toothbrushes (bamboo ones) plus a few birthday presents that will be delivered straight to the recipient. Need ti stop spending now.

ememem84 · 01/06/2020 08:40

In office 40 minutes later than I wanted to be. Had to turn around and come home as the car had a flat. Had to get dh to talk me through how to change it. I vaguely knew what to do but had never done it myself before. 💪🏻

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 01/06/2020 08:50

Just checking in! It's been a bit spendy this week, did an iceland order, been to tesco and bought some bits online (boredom and not able to get to sleep!) Have sold loads on ebay though, but have 40 things to take to the myhermes drop off later! That will be a fun walk 🤣

I'm off for a run before it gets too hot but I will read and catch up when I get home! Week 3 run 2 of couch to 5k woohoo!!

northender · 01/06/2020 09:05

Morning all.
A strange weekend here. Saturday I was grumpy and tearful in equal measure I think & yesterday was so much better & really enjoyed the day. I set myself a target of finishing all the complicated star blocks from one of the quilts I'm doing and did it! Still lots of work to do but it's more straightforward and progress should be quicker now. I'll post a pic from my phone in a bit.
My BBQ recipes had mixed success, but we enjoyed it anyway.
Today we are going to my aunty's to go for a walk from there. It should be pretty quiet so I'm looking forward to it. The only possible spending is on ice cream!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 01/06/2020 09:44

No spend day yesterday.

Payday happened, then on the 1st all my DDs and SOs come out of my account inc a couple if savings ones. And I then see what is left.
I like a certain buffer left in my account so I then work out how much I gave left over that amount and put a note on my calendar on my phone.
When I spend I then adjust the amount so in theory I always know how much I have left.
It does seem to stop me spending money on tatt.

£804 left for the month after saving a fair amount first.
When the clothes shops open I will end up spending a fortune as dd has had a growth spurt and is now taller than me so all her trousers are now half-mast.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 01/06/2020 09:45

National savings draw tomorrow. I always hope I will win something but rarely ever do.
Dh usually wins £25 to £75.

howlatthetrees · 01/06/2020 15:15

Hi I hope you don’t mind if I hop on, I found out about this thread through lane. I’ve recently found out we’re expecting DC4 in February next year, so I need to start saving and budgeting as a lot of big spends will have to happen, we’ll need a new car etc.

SnugglySnerd · 01/06/2020 16:19

Welcome Howl and congratulations on dc4!

Had a surprisingly productive day world-wide and feel much better. Going to do some more tonight while I'm in the zone. Also NSD. Yay!

ememem84 · 01/06/2020 16:48

Wowwee howl congrats!! 4dc!!! That’s amazing!

I came home from work at 1230 and have spent the afternoon putting things away tidying up my things in our room and taking a walk with ds to see the horses down the road from our house.

Mrsmadevans · 01/06/2020 16:52

Afternoon everyone Smile
Had awful hay fever yesterday , my eyes have been terrible so sore and watering , nose been running , sneezing like a fool. I took tabbies and feel much better now thank God Smile
Don't really know what to think of the new guidelines re Vulnerable ppl. Mum will stay with Bob until lockdown is stopped and we are free to drive around. So Bob can go up and down and we can take her up and down too. Weather has been so lovely recently it does help to keep our spirits up.
Been to see to Bob & Mum, they are fine , have found his shorts and he has them on love him Smile
Done 2 weeks tablets for Mum 396 tablets Shock
The other pic is out by Bob's in Llangorse it's beautiful there l wish l had a camera that did it justice. Sorted them out then we
went to Morrisons in Brecon on our way back , they really have their act together , 2 ppl on the door, one in one out, cleaning stuff, gel, aisles taped right down the middle lengthways so no one able to bend over you or get too near, it was excellent fair dos Smile
Spent 25 had a voucher for 5 my first from there and then we filled up with petrol from there, 99p a litre , unbelievable !

Curvy I've pretty much always been single, the longest relationship I managed was about 10 months 😬🤣 I can't be doing with all the hassle!!

Back to work today, it was actually fine, I have to go into the office tomorrow for the first time in weeks!!

Having a freezer tea tonight, fishfingers, waffles and beans 😋

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 01/06/2020 20:14

Welcome howl and congratulations!

Girlie, I really like being single too! When I think about all the time I wasted!

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/06/2020 20:16

Welcome howl.

MeadowHay · 01/06/2020 20:40

Welcome and congrats howl!

Spent £4.60 on the bus today as was in the office this morning for work. I thought it might be busier than previous times but nope hardly anyone on them. Was more traffic at lunchtime when I came home though. There was also a small group of teenage boys on the bus going to a park not socially distancing at all. I have been seeing more groups like this in this city over the last week or so, I think some of the teenagers are totally fed up now and I sympathise tbf. Nursery have sent yet another document with covid-related policies on it and this one we need to sign and return Confused. It's weird, they introduce a lot more measures now than the nursery DD was at for most of lockdown which was an on site hospital nursery only caring for kids whose parent worked at the hospital and they were much more relaxed (which I think was a good thing). I wonder how many more kids are at her nursery this week though and whether it will affect her behaviour at all.

I won employee of the year for my team Grin and win a small gift voucher for it, not confirmed but won't be more than £20 if not less hah. Still!

howlatthetrees · 01/06/2020 20:51

Thank you for the congratulations and the welcomes all!.

meadow a lot of teens near me seem to be meeting up again, definitely no social distancing there either.

ememem84 · 01/06/2020 22:25

Good job meadow 🎉

I’ve logged back on and done another couple of hours work. Sigh.

Finished now though and in bed with a tea. Back in the office tomorrow. Was going to be Wednesday but dh needs to make a load of calls weds so I need to be home.

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/06/2020 07:07

Still a nice gift meadow.
Yy teens are meeting up here.. they are missing their pals.

DH birthday today so another £70 in Sainsbury's yesterday on provisioned and cake.

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/06/2020 07:08

Oh and £20 riding school. More to savings too. My savings have doubled since lockdown with not paying for activity and sundries.

SnugglySnerd · 02/06/2020 07:23

Well done Meadow!

I think today is that last of the hot weather for a while so I think we'll get the paddling pool out again when we can.

Wolfcub · 02/06/2020 07:44

Well done Meadow. Congrats Howl.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 02/06/2020 07:56

Happy Birthday to your DH lifeCake

Today I'm WFH, but will have to help dd with her school work. DS has gone back to school today, dd will start on Monday.

May need milk and bread.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 02/06/2020 08:07

Welcome and congratulations howl

meadow we have loads of groups of teens here too. Congratulations on winning employee of the year!

We have all new risk assessments for work too, I'm going in today to sign it all and back in on Thursday. I've got 2 sets of bubbles so I'm in every day except weds. Dds are going to find it hard as I've been doing the majority of the school stuff with them.

Spent £10 in co OP yesterday on the frozen meal deal and some other bits we needed. Should be no spend today.

Going to take the girls for a paddle on the beach later, it's only 10 mins from my house. If I time it right we can do a bit of rock pooling, dd2 loves catching crabs 🤣

MeadowHay · 02/06/2020 11:12

Our main work system is down so literally can't do anything as I need it for every bit of oustanding work Confused

On the plus side, im getting some of my house work done whilst being paid GrinWink (altho my wage is so low some cleaners probs make more than this).

Spent about £20 on groceries on the way home from dropping DD at nursery. Also have an Iceland delivery coming this evening. You can get a slot within a couple of days here whereas have to wait like a week+ for Asda. But Iceland don't sell all the things I usually want so that's a pain.

Was going to treat myself to a takeaway brunchy thing for lunch but found some out of date eggs in the fridge so figure I will save the money and have that instead hah.

howlatthetrees · 02/06/2020 13:19

Well done meadow!

Bornlazy · 02/06/2020 14:28

Congratulations and welcome howl

Meadow well done on the award 🥇

Went to Lidl today for more food 🙈 and they had condensed milk for the first time in ages and baking powder so might do some baking later on. I hate food shopping at the moment as I’m constantly thinking what my dm needs too which I’m sure makes me spend more money as I get distracted.

I ordered two portable rechargeable fans from Amazon to replace the one I’ve had for a few years that is now broken so that’ll be the nice weather gone...
