Run done. Admittedly I had to set an alarm for 545. But it’s done. Was out and back before 7am.

Cup of tea in the garden. And then the chaos started!!

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 26/05/2020 07:31

em, well done on your run!
I was up early too, to do my exercise.
Just getting ready to go and do some shopping now.

SnugglySnerd · 26/05/2020 07:34

I wondered if he has had cv too Em, I've heard the fatigue is awful. Antibody test would be interesting.
Half term this week which means no remote teaching, which is good but means dh is working and I'm not so I suppose I'll be doing all the child duty, meals etc. I need to do some work to prepare for next week so I think I'll reserve a couple of afternoons. To be fair to dh he has made breakfast for the dcs and I am still in bed!

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/05/2020 08:09

Day off for me today. Will take the DC on a long walk, do a bit of gardening but need pebbles and soil so off to b&m at some point. Also very bad meal plan so no idea what we will eat. Hope I don't need another shop. Ffs

Hope you get your work done em.

Great idea for the clay. Kids love a bike ramp.

Need to pay milk bill £40, riding school £20,
And review bank. £60 Amazon for birthday but will get that back from mil.
£250 DH present. On cc so will pay late. Also need to chase KLM about flight

LaneBoy · 26/05/2020 09:28

Hope you get some concentrating time today em!

I’m so glad we can go out more often now. I’m about to head to the park on my own, will take my book to sit and read once I’ve walked.

I’m really looking forward to antibody testing. I want to know if what we had was it or not! It’ll be really interesting if they can test people who never had any symptoms too.

ememem84 · 26/05/2020 11:56

I’ve sent them out.

Dh had to have a call today to discuss working from home. I suggested he have the call at 830 before I needed to sort stuff out. His call was meant to last 10 minutes. At 920 I was still childminding.

At 930 I had a call with colleague.

At 10 Dh had to jump on another call.

At 11 he had another one.

And now I’ve asked him to go out. So I can focus.

Headphones are not working because he can see I’m wearing them but still insists on talking to me and complaining when I’m snappy.

I’m going into the office on Thursday for a break!

LaneBoy · 26/05/2020 12:35

OMG is there anything more irritating than someone talking to you when they can clearly see you have headphones in (or reading a book, that’s another pet peeve) 🤬

My walk/reading in the park was bliss. Really hot even at 10am! Calm shattered as soon as I got home due to DD1’s attitude re schoolwork. I’d love to relax about it but she struggles so much that the thought of being even further behind (especially with maths) is just too worrying.

Going into work is definitely a welcome break at the moment em . Enjoy a hot drink and a wee by yourself 😂

Glad you had a nice peaceful time, even if short lived lane

Currently watching the DC in the paddling pool and reading the Michelle Obama book which I’ve had to read for ages. 25 degrees here 😎

Happierwithouthim · 26/05/2020 13:01

Lane I put them in when I'm walking sometimes with nothing playing through. It does help with wind too though.

Amazing day here. Been out for two hours walking and sitting on cliff top enjoying the sound of the Atlantic

MeadowHay · 26/05/2020 13:06

25 degrees?! It's about 17 here I think and overcast, it was drizzling when I walked home from dropping DD at nursery. Grim.

We want to open a savings account for DD because my DP say they want to save for her regularly, but also we want to try and save more for a deposit for a house and the interest rates are rubbish atm and children's have the best ones so we tonight we could save in that? Need to review the accs on MSE. I don't know how feasible it will be though as last time I checked, you need to open them in person if you don't already bank with the bank you want, and I don't know that will work for the foreseeable?

I need to call the dentist too but feel anxious about it eek. I don't know if they're open at all or not and I know I won't get seen or anything but they might be able to reassure me or something.

I also need to order something for my DF and for DH for father's Day too, and a birthday present for my friend.

Em sorry your DH is being...dunno what the right word is, but not a positive one...! I'm going into the office next Monday I think.

DH will presumably have antibody testing sometime soon with him working in A&E. But none of us have had any symptoms so I'm confident we haven't had it. It's good though as if he hasn't had it then hopefully he can interact less with the suspected covid patients if they can put more staff with antibodies to treat those patients.

ememem84 · 26/05/2020 13:14

love absolutely. I’ll have to buy my coffee instead of using kitchen facilities because those are out of bounds apparently. And won’t be able to sit at my desk as my colleague will be at his and we’re meant to be 2m apart. But hey ho.

Lovemaltesers · 26/05/2020 13:22

Have you got a help to buy ISA meadow ? You can only use it to buy a house with but you can save £4K per year and then the government top it up by 25% . I’d have thought that would be about the best way to save at the moment with interest rates being so low.

I’ve just had to get the DC inside as it is so hot!

ememem84 · 26/05/2020 14:01

I’m indoors now too. We had a picnic on the grass lunch. Which was lovely. Ds loves a picnic.

I’m now on bed trawling through emails. Sorting and filing.

I suggested to the boss that when things are a bit more free and open (ie nursery) I might start working from dparents place on a Monday while they have the kids. This way I’m there if they need help (dads knees still dodgy and Dm can’t run around after both kids on her own).

MeadowHay · 26/05/2020 14:11

Love - yes me and DH both have help to buy accounts that we opened not long before they closed them for new applicants and been saving the max each month since then. But we need to save more, and quicker to get our target of home ownership in around 5yrs, in this area.

Mrsmadevans · 26/05/2020 17:36

It has been another beautiful day here Smile
Sorted Mum & Bob , they had a lovely tea curtesy of DH , toad in the hole, extra sausages fried onions, potatoes , carrots & gravy , it looked and smelled delicious ! I folded all the washing strategically, so no ironing Grin
Em l have spoken to a few friends who are nurses and have been tested and they said their test wasn't carried out properly. They didn't swab them properly , they did protest at the time but were not taken any notice of . NO wonder if there are false negatives . Glad Dh is getting there it's been a long trek to get there Flowers

found this from PHE on you tube. Life thank you for reminding me l have to pay the milk man too! Grin
Wolfcub · 26/05/2020 18:01

Slightly overcast but warm day here. Washing dried on the line. Solid 10 hours put in at work - brain now fried. Bacon sandwiches for tea. Ds went for a bike ride with my df. All in all a successful day.

Ordered some parts yesterday to fix my Dyson who developed an issue after cleaning the filters - common apparently. Veg box and Ocado shop coming tomorrow, had a £7 price match voucher too, not sure I like the nice to monthly vouchers

Interview is going to be in 3.5 weeks apparently so I have some time to prepare, or rather I have some time to get even more nervous than I already am

Need to make something with asparagus tomorrow and might set ds on making a carrot cake as we have tonnes of carrots

northender · 26/05/2020 20:00

Em whatever your dh had sounds just the same as dh & we are convinced it was covid (he lost his senses of smell and taste). Definitely lots of false negatives around. One of our patients was in hospital and tested negative twice but is down as positive because of lung changes on his CT scan.
Love that is one of my favourite books of the last couple of years, MO is such an inspiration. I watched an accompanying documentary on netflix with dd at the weekend and enjoyed that too.
Good luck with the interview prep wolf
Happier I'm envious of your Atlantic facing clifftop spot. It was dull here this morning & a little drizzly as I drove to work, but brightened up later
Lane glad you got some peace & time to yourself this morning.

Work was okay today. Really enjoyed the weekend as we had some lovely family time. BBQ tea last night, something we would rarely do in normal times as ds would be playing cricket so much & I'd be cricket tea making, so I am savouring it. Managed my aims of sewing and reading yesterday. I have nearly finished the complicated part of one of the quilts. Once that is done then it should be much quicker progress.
Payday was today so things are looking healthier again.

northender · 26/05/2020 20:00

Mrsmad toad in the hole is a big family favourite here

Unescorted · 26/05/2020 20:46

Toad in the hole is top menu choice over here too. Although I cheat and cook them separately so the sausages are done nice and the puds are even better. We (I) have perfected onion gravy.

Today has been a busy one... topped off by my fellow FB volunteers not having turned up at the weekend, I got in today to find all unpacking and repacking to do. I ended up doing a Teams meeting with my lap top perched on the top of the pasta boxes with a background of soup and tuna. My new boss was impressed which is a silver lining.

Mrsmadevans · 26/05/2020 22:02

All credit goes to my Dh re the toad in the hole , he's a very good plain cook , thank God! Grin

SnugglySnerd · 26/05/2020 22:19

I feel your pain Em! Dh seems to be constantly on work calls while I try to keep the dcs quietish. I had a massive rant a couple of weeks ago about how I am a key worker yet having to do my work at weekends and evenings because he's on lengthy work calls day in day out. He has since blocked out afternoons on his calendar as unavailable so nobody calls him or arranges meetings. This means we get half a day each to work and we both do some in the evenings too. Not ideal but at least it is fair and his work have been ok with it.

ememem84 · 27/05/2020 06:16

snuggly I think that’s how we’re going to have to do it. Although there’s the “no real quiet space” to work in issue which needs resolving.

The longer this goes on for the less dh stops the kids interrupting.

Wolfcub · 27/05/2020 06:32

My sympathies Em and Snuggly. The longer this goes on for the less ds is able to stop himself from interrupting too. Super frustrating at times

SnugglySnerd · 27/05/2020 07:27

We have the no quiet space issue too Em. We have to take turns to work in our bedroom! Luckily the nice weather means we have had the dcs out in the garden most of the time so at least they are not crashing round the house.

ememem84 · 27/05/2020 07:40

Also - I know I’m moaning and we’re lucky that we’re both able to wfh and that when dh wasn’t working he was paid in full.

But man it’s hard.

Up with the dc now. Dh is still sleeping. I’m giving him till 8 and then will wake him up.

Discovered Winnie the Pooh on disney plus for ds. He loves it.

Dd has started making a new noise “awoowooowooo” all. Day. Long.
