Love the pink Em!

Unescorted- hanging basket sounds beautiful, please share a pic when you're done with it, the one thing I really missed whilst living on a building site complete with scaffolding was the hanging baskets, this year I'm 100% having amazing hanging baskets Smile just watching Gardeners World lol

Wolfcub · 17/04/2020 20:23

Agree with Life on the kindle fire. They work perfectly well and at £60 ish they aren't as painful when they get broken so you can relax more with the kids having them. You can set up a kids profile and apply restrictions and parental controls.

Girlie hope you're ok

We've survived the day. Ds is now fine. I am exhausted but the house is clean the bed is changed the garden is mowed and the work crisis was fixed. Aaaand I have beer

Unescorted there’s a name for that smell: petrichor.

I’m handy on a quiz team, me Wink

That hanging basket sounds lovely. I need to plant mine up but I can’t think where I’d get bedding plants. I ordered lobelia plug plants for the troughs outside my back door though - I just love it.

One of the blueberry plants that I ordered arrived today. Fingers crossed I don’t kill it. I am not expecting a big yield, just wanted the DC to see where their fruit comes from!

ChristmasSeacow · 17/04/2020 20:28

Wolf I somehow think your housekeeping standards are a lot higher than mine. I’d be happy with any one of those chores done Grin. You’ve reminded me to get a beer though Grin

Wolfcub · 17/04/2020 20:32

Oh and I think I get extra lockdown dick points as I read half a play today (couldn't download any new books as I unplugged the broadband)

Hello all. I thought i would pop in if you don’t mind? Nice to catch up with you all. Here, DH is on furlough, and very happy with his lot. I am on 80% pay but have to work for it! Officially I am also on 80% time, but that isn’t happening.

I’m quite fortunate in that I got an inflationary pay rise in January, followed by a promotion (with a big rise) in February. This means at 80% salary, I should be about £60 a month worse off than before January. This has been agreed, initially, for 3 months. I’m not complaining, as the rises have offset the cut, plus 790 people have been furloughed by my employer, but none of my team.

ChristmasSeacow · 17/04/2020 21:15

Hi Audit, that sounds about as good as it gets these days! Hopefully DH can pull his weight at home while you are working.

Our takeaway was mean for be here at 9pm (earliest it would let us book). No sign and we are starving! DH is going to get very hangry soon. I am afraid they may do a Snuggly on us. I do not want crisps for dinner!

SnugglySnerd · 17/04/2020 21:47

Hi Audit! Nice to see you!

Hope your takeaway turns up Sea.

LaneBoy · 17/04/2020 22:17

Great to see you audit although I realise I’ve namechanged since!

We discovered the Announcement feature on Alexa today. DS remembered it at bedtime and there has been much giggling from the Caglets Hmm :o

Ordered a DVD 😳 was going to rent it (Hotel Transylvania 3) on DSD’s prime and give her the money - never done that before - but it’s only 26p more to buy it.

Hope you have your food sea

Happierwithouthim · 17/04/2020 22:33

Hi everyone Smile
Em I love your hair colour

I've found out today I'm back to work on Monday, I'm delighted to be going back. This week was at 70% pay. Unfortunately dds birthday is Monday so I'm going to have to celebrate it with her on Sunday instead.

Yesterday I spent €35 on ddog's vaccinations, she had to get her stitches out so I made use of the visit.

Baking today was apple crumble tray bake, layer of shortbread, layer of stewed apple & layer of crumble. Came in my free Easyfood magazine. Also adapted a recipe for brown scones by removing egg & they were much better than last batch.

Unescorted · 17/04/2020 22:33

sea all plants and compost from Morrisons, liner from B&M patched and matched to the larger basket. We are in the sticks so most people will have greenhouses to grow their own annuals so there is normally a lot of choice in the supermarkets.

Camden so was I. My MIL has bought me a gift subscription for GW magazine for years and I have always felt guilty because until this year I have never really had enough time. This year I am lapping it all up - GW, GW mag, any other sources... I am also going to send her pictures of it. Although I am going to have to buy replacement iris for the ones she gave me & I killed.

@lonelyoversharer the vege seeds are still doing you proud. I have sent some across to @sneakygremlin and to other friends along my road. Last year we all did our beans in suffragette colours out front. I have not bought peas or mange tout for years.... Grin

I am going to have to work out how to post pictures ….

Audit lovely to see you. I am not convinced you are getting a good deal there if you are working 100% and getting paid 80%, although having jobs is a good thing.

wolf chin chin.... I am on wine.

I'm going to repot my strawberry places today into a bigger pot. I also need to dig up a grannies bonnett and pot it to take with us when we move. Not until next year though.

Hey audit welcome back.

Im then going to prepare the kitchen for painting.

Wolfcub · 18/04/2020 08:42

Unescorted when rhs Bridgewater opens next year (delayed was supposed to be this year) we should go.

I love gardeners world. I am a crap gardener though in terms of skill and have very little space. But I like to potter.

Welcome back Audit

Taking ds to his dads shortly

Happier your baking sounds lovely. I might do some today as it's the last day for my remaining eggs. Either that or it's fried egg sandwich for lunch

Sea sometimes having a tiny house helps. Only having a kitchen and living room downstairs does make it easier to get around.

Em love the pink.

Life what colour are you paining the kitchen?

Morning! I was woken up at 6am by hayfever Angry

Takeaway arrived at 10pm and DH and I fell on it with indecent fervour. It was average at best but soooo welcome. We forgot about the prawn crackers so I’ve just had some for breakfast this is why I’m fat

Also - I think I’ve just bought a bread maker. Was forlornly trawling the internet and I found a brand new Panasonic one on eBay where the seller forgot to use the word ‘Panasonic’ in the listing, It just said ‘bread maker’. Which is presumably why it hadn’t been snapped up. It’s the model I ideally wanted, seller has good ratings so I am keeping everything crossed! Should be here by the 29th. I am trying not to get excited.

I have to mostly work this weekend but we might leave the house and go see the bluebells locally. Its not breaking any rules as long as we keep moving, no loitering. We might still get told off though Hmm. I think DS’s mental health is suffering and he needs to get out. He hasn’t left the house in nearly a month and will hardly even go in the garden at the moment. I am getting quite worried about him.

Today:

  • work on my paper, at least 5 hours, and then probably more tonight.
  • make a cake or tray bake
  • put away huge Ocado shop when it arrives
  • do my hair roots
  • make dinner
  • clean kitchen and bathrooms

if I have time over the weekend I’dike to plant some sweet pea seeds. So you think they would work in a hanging basket?

Our wooden garden furniture is very rickety and on its last legs (literally) so we are considering spending the holiday budget on some new furniture, since we’re probably not going anywhere this year - except the garden! I don’t want wood or a glass table top (hate the noise!) so probably metal. However, I found one with a stone top which is more expensive but much nicer. Hmmm. Am chewing it over. I think it’s probably not justified though.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 18/04/2020 08:52

Hi all I had a little mn bread for a few days as really needed to crack on with my uni stuff and I can lose a shocking amount of time to mn! Feel a bit stressed still at how much work I need to do for it but am sure it will be fine in the end 😬

Haven't been spending much, bought dd a few bits on Amazon (books/puzzles/Harry potter colouring book!) Came to around £45 I think. Not bought anymore food though.

Planning on getting up early to do a food shop tomorrow in the nhs time slot.

Today will be doing more uni work and will take the dog on a long walk. His little face keeps us smiling bless her 🐶

ChristmasSeacow · 18/04/2020 08:56

Glad to see you are ok Girlie, I was getting worried! I think you are sometimes a Morrison’s shopper - have you seen they are offering 10% off for nhs staff?

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 18/04/2020 09:01

Sea I put sweet peas in a hanging basket, they do sometimes need a bit of support so useful if they're near a fence or wall they can climb onto. Sorry your ds is struggling so much, it's so hard on the kids. Def do the bluebell walk, I drag dd out everyday as think it's important for her mental health, I don't think she'd bother getting dressed otherwise 😕

We've had rain here and the garden is looking very happy about it!! Think everything will shoot up now.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 18/04/2020 09:04

X post sea yes will be going to Morrison's and will get my 10% discount! Pets at Home are offering it as well so have been stocking up on pet food.

Will probably end up in the garden section at Morrison's as well tomorrow!! Still got a few empty pots that need filling....

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/04/2020 11:02

Wolf hope you are having a better day. You're last few sound torrid.
It's a mushroom grey kind of colour. Brown based grey. Living Room cream, DD room white, DS room turquoise, our bedroom and stairs will be last and I might throw money at it

StraightOuttaCamden · 18/04/2020 11:09

Christmas- I've only ever grown sweet peas with a teepee frame, but I'm sure you can grow them from seed using toilet roll tubes.

Wolf - I'm the same, not great at gardening but I do love to have a go, last year I picked up loads of terracotta pots really cheap all different shapes and sizes, I was planning on filing them with bulbs, but I may just plant them up once I can get out and buy some plants.

In other news we finally have half of a utility room, I'm so happy Grin even though there's still a long way to go I never thought we'd actually get to this point, currently we only have half a kitchen so once the doors are on we can fill the cupboards with everything that's laying around.

Yay for progress on the work Camden

Colours sound great Life

Ds dropped off and carrot cake in the oven

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 18/04/2020 11:46

Which easy cook happier. I have apples substituted yesterday that won't get eaten.

Wolfcub · 18/04/2020 12:10

Cake out of the oven and glazed seeing as there is no icing sugar.

Bread on bread maker. Panasonic is a great choice Sea. I've had mine 13 years. Mum had one for 15 and is now on her second which must be a good 8 years old and gets used every other day

Another bag o'shite packed for stbexh which ds can take in for him when I go and collect later. So that's two bags o'shite out of the house today. Also means stbexh has got some more of his modelling stuff to keep him busy in lockdown and some more pans etc as he was saying he hasn't got much kitchen equipment. I had already sent some pans, cutlery, knives etc last year but admittedly not loads
