Mrsmadevans · 12/02/2020 12:34

Hopefully a NSD for me but am not guaranteeing this 😂
Weather is beautiful here 🌞
Have a lovely day everyone 😀

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/02/2020 18:07

£24 superdrug, £1.42 apples,

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 12/02/2020 18:58

Really busy day but feeling pleased as it's been productive.

£8 Macdonalds dinner for dd and I as went to town straight from school and she's out volunteering now.

£19 at the vets on meds for the animals.

Wish I'd worn a Fitbit today as reckon I've clocked up loads of steps, not sat down all day.

SnugglySnerd · 12/02/2020 19:28

Same here Girlie, this is the first time I've stopped all day. I am very tired.
Nsd. Just getting the nerve up to check bank balance and plan half term. I suspect there isn't much money in there so fingers crossed for park weather next week!

Happierwithouthim · 12/02/2020 19:35

Planned to spend €120 grocery shop €150 total €30 off with vouchers - spent €200.11 costing €160.11 after vouchers at Dunnes Stores. Last grocery shop on 22nd for this house, next one will go into larder press in rented house.
About €20 was on chocolate for my dsis in Oz & a valentines card.

And there were offers I couldn't pass like my favourite frozen chips 2 for €4 normally €2.75 each and I got lots of protein yogurts and meat to keep my diet under control during the house move, nothing will go to waste.

Happierwithouthim · 12/02/2020 19:37

Today I looked for a money transfer from my cc to pay for deposit of rental, I'm due money from my fathers tax rebate but it hasn't come through yet, so I'm just borrowing due to cash flow.

Happierwithouthim · 12/02/2020 21:00

Despite my colossal spend on groceries I'm still saving about €120 this month compared to last years monthly spend.

NSD

ememem84 · 12/02/2020 22:06

Busy day.

Therapy session then yoga after work.

Unescorted · 12/02/2020 22:18

Evening people !

Wolf I hope you are drying out.

Happier - exciting days.

Expensive week here - I dented the bumper on one car and DH had a mid life crisis and bought a sports car.

Unescorted 😱
My worst 🌃 nightmare
Good morning everyone 😀
Going to Aldi so will be about £30 l expect . Have a good day everyone 😀

Happierwithouthim · 13/02/2020 08:25

unescorted Grin your dh, hope there wasn't much damage to bumper, part of my grill under bumper keeps falling down, must get at it properly a dry day and fix it up.

€2 on local eggs, passing my hen on to someone else at the weekend ahead of the move Sad, when I've my own house I'll get some again, probably 3. I'm the only one that eats eggs in my house but they're needed as an ingredient too so 3 is a good number.

wolf hope you're surviving.

Today will be €22.50 on postage plus maybe €8 on more chocolate for dsis as I'm just over 1kg which costs €15.50 to post and 2kg will be €22.50, if I buy the chocolate hopefully dm will pay postage!

And we'll be eating out too because 3 hours driving this evening to meet dm for part for boiler.

SnugglySnerd · 13/02/2020 12:33

Was that an impulse buy Unescorted?!

Spendy here too. 25% off TU and the dcs all needed odds and ends like pants, tights and leggings plus I replaces my own threadbare leggings and bought 2 shirts and a few food bits while we were there.
Ds chose felafels for lunch and has eaten about 10!

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/02/2020 16:57

Oo I need some Sainsbury's stuff in the sale.

Waves at wolf. Were still here for you lovely.

Unescorted that funny and annoying in equal measure. My DH keeps threatening something like that but he's too tight to spend the cash.

Lovemaltesers · 13/02/2020 19:31

I knew there was a reason I was meant to go to Sainsbury’s today instead of Tesco! 😂

£49 in Tesco

1 day to go until half term. It’s been a hideous half term! My brain has melted.

Hope you are ok wolf

Lovemaltesers · 13/02/2020 19:33

Don’t suppose anyone here has experience of being bank admin staff for the NHS?

Laska2Meryls · 13/02/2020 19:38

hi there , I dropped off the thread , because have been away..Nothing exciting , just up in the house DH lived in all week when he was working , painting and getting it ready to sell ( hes had it 20 years and its his pension , he doesn't have any other so needs to be done and soon) . Am fed up with it now but there's still lots to be done..

Then we spent the weekend with friends on the mainland ( did soon some exciting campervan dealership visiting though) and because of storm got stranded over there for an extra couple of days..

Glad to be home .But its not been a frugal time so I cant claim and moneysaving kudos , and nor will be able to for the next couple of weeks either..
We are off again ( retirement isn't always like this I'm sure!) as its Dh's 60th and I have booked a trip to Bologna for his birthday as his present ..

Looking like another bad storm over the weekend , We are off Tuesday , I hope it blows over in time , last week was the first time in 15 years we've lived here that we got stranded , but fingers crossed it wont stop us leaving again to get the plane .. ..

Oh yes, I did one frugal thing, changed our gas and electricity suppliers from Ovo ( who used to be really good but since taking over SSE are always on at us to up out direct debit even though we are not in debt) to So Energy.. and i used a friends referral code and so got £40 credit .. ( I have one myself now for £40 if anyone interested, we'd both get £40 off our bill )

I now need to read back on a weeks worth of your posts ..!

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/02/2020 19:41

I noticed lots of emails from ovo like that laksa. Is that why.
Good luck selling the house.

Sorry no NHS here

£2.50 rose for DS valentine £40p carrots, £2.50 greggs

Laska2Meryls · 13/02/2020 19:58

Life yes I wasn't in debit at the time and it always works out over the year , but of course over winter you never are in credit really . The 'old ' Ovo never seemed to worry , but now as soon as you go over they write to you telling you to up your DD,, but of course the amount they want would put you massively in credit over the summer months and they dont give you the option of upping it by less than they say .

So Energy will allow you to pay more in the winter it seems or are quite happy to average it out.. As I knew exactly what we used last year, they actually wanted less than Ovo did before they started bothering me before Christmas..

I know it will change because we are here more now, but I am still sticking to having the heating on timed as it was before ( luckily it hasn't been a cold winter ) . Also there was the benefit of the £40 free energy credit I got for using friends referral code. That was also better than anything Quidco was giving me ..

Laska2Meryls · 13/02/2020 20:02

wolf poor you I hope its not too dreadful , hopefully not drain water ..
Its obviously been really bad here , loads of surface water coming off the fields and many trees down.. including one of ours which is now in neighbour's field , and we will have to try and deal with it over the weekend, storm or not.

Luckily our new bathroom roof held ( the old one would have leaked really badly) but we also had the invoice for that today £2500 , but definitely worth it ..

Laska2Meryls · 13/02/2020 20:06

Today spendy though, I picked up the holiday euros (I am paying for the whole trip as Dhs birthday present) prepaid for taxi at Bologna airport , and a book of stamps!
I did get a refund on the unused ferry ticket for last Sunday though..

ChristmasSeacow · 13/02/2020 20:41

Sort of Love - I have technically been bank admin but at band 9. I’ve employed loads of people through bank at various times though, if that helps?

Lovemaltesers · 13/02/2020 21:04

Ah, I forgot you worked in NHS sea. I was just wondering if you got much work through bank? I’ve seen an advert for band 2/3/4, although I’d really be looking for band 5 minimum or 6. Do people get jobs at 5/6 without working for the nhs before?
