Took 2 bags to the charity shop earlier, called in Aldi (11 pound something) and took dd1 to change her library books. Trying to psych myself up to take the Crhistmas decs down, one of my most hated jobs.

PassingIntoTheWest · 04/01/2020 13:50

I'd like to join please. I'm already pretty frugal and environmentally minded, and will hopefully pick up some new ideas 🙂.

ImASlatternGetMeOutOfHere · 04/01/2020 13:52

Yesterday DH had a spend at Tesco for £37.77 and Halfords for £53.60. DC3 was given an old bike to do up and he wants to film himself doing it and put it up on You Tube as he is starting his own channel. I said to DH it would have been cheaper for him to buy a working second hand one off FB

Will be a spendy day today as well as DC3 is going to the cinema with my cousin and her family so he is going to have money for the train, cinema, popcorn etc. We are meeting them after for a drink and meal at a pub, so that will be for 5 of us.

@YellowSkyBlue, glad I was helpful. Credit Unions are brilliant.

Have put £34 in the Help to Buy ISA from the round up savings account. I have to decide whether to do it when I have a good lump or when I have a few £££s in it. The danger is I can take it out of the savings account if I need the pennies, if it is in the ISA I can't get it.

ememem84 · 04/01/2020 14:04

£32 riding.

My instructor gave me a pair of leather look waterproof johdpurs to try on as they’re too big for her. If they fit I’ll buy them from her.

I know I said no new clothes...but I only have one pair of johds and do need to replace these....so if they fit it counts.

On track for my first NSD of the year today!
I'm wanting to decorate the spare bedroom this month and took ex to the shop with me to help pick out the things I need as he knows a lot more about this stuff than I do and in a moment of generosity he paid for the things for me as my christmas gift. It was a total of about 12.50 so not a huge amount saved but I appreciated it.

Now I just need to resist the urge to go and get some biscuits from the shop and I'll have not spent anything today.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 04/01/2020 14:54

Hello to even more newbies!

Yesterday was a NSD.
Today was a LSD, £1.15 on some milk and £1.50 on greatly reduced Christmas wrapping paper and gift tags. I got four rolls and 36 tags for that, so will be sorted for this year!

reallynow1 · 04/01/2020 15:08

Yesterday was a nsd, today not so.
Took dh and dc out for breakfast, then bought some bits for fil birthday on my credit card for dh to pay me back for. Also bought some reduced crimbo cards for next year.

Next couple of days will be lsd. Dhs birthday on Tuesday so need to get stuff for that. But rather than go out for a meal he has chosen what to have as a meal at home...most of it I've got in already - hurrah!

Happierwithouthim · 04/01/2020 15:16

Marinetta still kind & nice of ex to help you out too

Em i think the jodhpurs are an allowed spend

Wolfcub · 04/01/2020 15:19

£4.55 farm shop on malt loaf and two individual cheesecakes. £4.46 Tesco on bananas, chapattis and individual wrapped brioche for ds.

Been to charity shop, tip, farm shop and Tesco. Lunch courtesy of dm and df (bacon sandwich). Car electrics playing up again, it unlocked itself and left itself unlocked 😡

Washing hung up. Dropped iron from ironing board onto the floor, it's rattling suspiciously hopefully it works next time I go to use it.

Haven't read back will do that now

Fearofawelshplanet · 04/01/2020 15:28

Curls- lol at you alseep on settee! I opted for a longer dog walk today with DH instead. We swapped the mcdonalds coffee we used to have on a saturday for a flask from home. Also going to try Morrisons home delivery online so that we go out working together saturday mornings instead. Better, cheaper and healthier hopefully! More clearing and decluttering this afternoon, along with endless washing....
£77.00 food shop
£40 electric on payg (lasts the month covers tumble dryer use in winter months)
£40 gas on payg (this will last the month)
4 huge bags donated to charity shop today
Bought 6 months washing powder /conditioner in Morrison offer
£15 monthly bill for previous debt
£30 phone credit (payg x3 mobiles)
£35 twins lunch money for school.
Going to make banana bread and smoothies tomorrow and avoid top up shops this week Blush

Fearofawelshplanet · 04/01/2020 15:29

**walking, not working...sorry that post is soooo long.

Laska2Meryls · 04/01/2020 15:45

Just made a pot of minestrone soup using up the last of the bacon bought before Christmas, veggies and a pack of roast tomatoes from freezer from our summer's crop, saved parmesan rind, and also chard from the garden which is still growing .. So feeling v frugal .That is dinner sorted with bread and leftover Christmas cheeses.

Couple of sale things arrived and they are going back so I reckon that's a NSD!!

Lovely to have the thread so chatty, but hard to keep up with!
Spends today £29 in Booths. Could've saved a couple of pounds by also going to aldi (v close by) but had had enough at that point so got everything in one place.
Have done a bit of tidying and decluttering, took a bag of stuff to the charity shop this morning. Need to do more, but lacking a bit in energy. The circuits class this morning was pretty tough, but feel good now

ememem84 · 04/01/2020 16:37

Christmas decs up into the loft. Managed to squirrel away the noisy Christmas themed toys that Fil and his gf gave the kiddos for Christmas without ds seeing. #sneakyMummy

Ds has a mega nap. Around 3 hours. So it’s been fairly quiet.

laska I have been craving minestrone, it’s in the meal plan for when I get back. I want to cook 7-8 meals that I can freeze the leftovers and have ready for going back to work. Any ideas welcome! I took the plunge today in the Netherlands and had 30cm cut off my hair. Really pleased with it. Also it was 35 euros for a restyle, blow dry etc in a super nice salon - I want to move here!

£15 on groceries for the week
£5 on a birthday gift

And that's my spending window closed until next Friday now. This will be the real test as it's back to school and going out for dinner or getting convenience foods is always a temptation at the end of the day. Must resist Halo

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 04/01/2020 17:17

Lovely haircut Plan

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/01/2020 17:58

Nice hair plan.

The tip was chocca. One run done but didn't go back for another.
4 bags to scouts for jumble sale and clothes weight in.
£44 Sainsbury's, but got some baking tins as the heavy weight ones are on offer. Also cake tin liners.
Had a use up bake session blueberry muffins were awful though so binned them. First time Mary berry has let me down. Lemon and blueberry loaf cake, corned beef pie, apple crumble, sausage casserole for tomorrow ready to go in and will create something with chicken, leek and bacon.
Also sausage rolls to make

Tired now

Wolfcub · 04/01/2020 18:13

Your oven is very busy today Life

Plancina, lovely hair

Loaf of bread made in breadmaker. Dinner is home made curry with the chapattis I bought earlier. must make Mac and cheese tomorrow but I am so fed up of all things dairy

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 04/01/2020 18:13

@Plancina Looks lovely and a bargain!

@ememem84 Love the helmets! Fireman Sam is still a firm fave in the Peggy household Smile

Weekly shop at Aldi and B&M complete and in budget.

Took DS to the library this afternoon and parked in the free council parking rather than the one attached to the shopping centre (which usually costs me £3 + a hot wheels car)
We stopped for a coffee, cake and ice cream £8.40 which puts me £2 over my daily budget BUT it was an independent shop and tomorrow will be a NSD so I’m okay with that.

Got the Marie Kondo decluttering book out of the library (free rather than kindle) so will see what the fuss is about.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 04/01/2020 18:15

I meant to ask - does anyone use an app to revised daily frittering? I think it would really help me.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 04/01/2020 18:16

Record not revise!

SnugglySnerd · 04/01/2020 18:30
