sea I just keep a log of passwords in “notes” on my phone.

Just the passwords though. Not what they’re for.

Took kids to trampoline park today but took snacks and drinks. £48 in Sainsbury's but that should see us through to next Friday now.

One of lastnight's fish pies for tea, and am cooking up a bolognese tonight, turkey mince chilli, chicken and chorizo stew, chicken korma and spicy root veg soup tomorrow all for the freezer....and will premake my lunches for next week. Should be sorted then. I hate batch cooking days until it's all in the freezer and then I can relax knowing I won't be running about trying to think of food every night!!!

usernamegoeshere · 03/01/2020 20:46

Hey, can I join? I'm trying to cut right back to pay off debts then start saving up. I'm a nightmare for popping to co op for one thing then spending a tenner!

CurlsandCurves · 03/01/2020 20:57

Omg @ememem84 that Camembert sounds amazing. Can’t believe I’m saying that given that I’m absolutely stuffed from a curry, DH wanted a last blowout.

@Fearofawelshplanet I find yoga utterly exhausts me! I find myself staggering round in a fog for hours after and I fall asleep at the drop of a hat. Got a friend coming over for lunch on Monday so I’d better warn her. She’ll be used to it as I fell asleep on her sofa the other week in a post yoga coma 😆

maddenlightfoot · 03/01/2020 21:05

We're back at home after almost a week away. DH has gone out so I'm settling down for a night of catching up on Christmas tv! We came back with a tonne of food but I'd also ordered a clickncollect so £50 shopping. £90 fuel. £20 service station lunch. £20 Amazon diy stuff.

A boring spendy day!!

SnugglySnerd · 03/01/2020 21:24

I do the same as Em with passwords. I hate having to think of passwords for everything and then remember them!
Just watching TOTP from 1989 and finding I can sing along to every single song! I'd have been 10 in 1989, don't know how I've remembered all these tunes!

ememem84 · 03/01/2020 21:30

Oh snuggly 1989. So many good tuuuuunes.

I would have been 5. But love an 80’s early 90’s tune.

Currently watching Dracula. The bbc adaptation. Dh has gone to bed because he’s a wussyboy.

Camembert was amazing. As of Monday we’re vegan until February 6th.

Going okay so far. I have managed to avoid shopping on Amazon so far. But I do need to but new wellies for my DD as she starts back at nursery on Monday and needs to have them. Have to make sure I stick to essentials.

LaneBoy · 03/01/2020 22:54

£1 chocolate for DH
Lunch (my downfall!!!) £10.93
Tesco £75.95 - not entirely sure what we got (DH did the order this time but it’s my card that is saved on the site)

Started looking at nurseries to use the 2 year funding. Got a list of 5 in priority order to ring on Monday. Would hope for 4 mornings a week (I want to keep going to the playgroup we attend on Thursdays as it’s good for both of us!)

Frugal and decluttering win, DD1 has agreed to try selling some playmobil at some point. Sad she’s outgrown it but the space it will give us back is worth more than the (small amount of - it’s not in great nick really) money. I’ve not actually asked DS yet but he’s so focused on Lego and Transformers I don’t think he will say no either. It’s a bit daft really as they refused to part with it in July last year when we moved but it’s mostly been sitting in various boxes since!

I’m viewing a piano tomorrow. Owner doesn’t want anything for it 😱 so just the movers to pay for if I do swap... I’ve had mine for 23 years though! So not an easy decision.

Unescorted · 03/01/2020 23:27

Lane we are doing the same with Lego... some of it dates back to the 50's so quite valuable.

Passwords here are a book and note the page and line number. I use the first letter of the words..... which if you don't know the book or the edition makes it gobbledygook. I also have a system for the numbers and punctuation keys which I am not going to tell you.

Accidentalaccountant · 04/01/2020 05:58

Yesterday would have been no spend but saw the garden centre post and ended up buying 3 orchids while doing !y mum's shopping.

ememem84 · 04/01/2020 08:07

Oopsy. Sorry accountant

Riding today. So £32. Other than that no spends planned.

Dh needs to get the Christmas decoration boxes down from the loft and put the stuff up there.

I am going to try and work out whether it’s best to sell the double bed frame we have, give it away or dump it.

Thanks to the person who mentioned credit unions. I have now joined my local one Smile.

northender · 04/01/2020 08:29

Morning all. Posting an update as the last couple of days is too much to catch up on right now, will do that later.
Been at work for the last two days, my only spend was £5 on a leaving present for a work colleague. Dh went to do a top up shop at aldi which was sub £10.
Haven't heard anything from HSBC since applying for the account switch on Wednesday so need to chase that up. Am still managing on leftovers from Christmas as I froze them before we went to Devon. On Thursday we had a JO leftovers pie using turkey, ham, stuffing and gravy which is a firm family favourite now. Last night was turkey fajitas and tonight is roast gammon which will use the last of the meat.
Christmas decs came down yesterday and a now packed away ready to go back to the loft room. This weekend I have nothing planned except for a gym class each day. Dh and ds are going to football today so it'll just be me and dd here. There will be cleaning and tidying, but also some sewing and baking I hope. I'm also thinking a walk would be good tomorrow, but not sure where to go yet.

Wolfcub · 04/01/2020 08:55

Washing on with the coats rescued from the cellar head that I want to keep.

Need to start ironing shortly then drop ds off to meet his dad and take crap to the tip. Plus side of decluttering the cellar head - I've found my long handled garden loppers and I rescued some plastic shoe storage boxes which ds has put to use in his wardrobe

Another terrible night's sleep with work nightmares I'd hoped to avoid those until the usual Sunday night doom

maddenlightfoot · 04/01/2020 09:02

Christmas decks will be coming down for us too today when I can find some energy. Terrible nights sleep here up and down with the dts tag-teaming all night.

Need to make a phone call to a upvc repair place shortly. We already have a couple of broken window locks that need sorting and this morning, eldest dd said she found one of the local cats in our kitchen (eating an apple apparently) and the cat-flap in our back door has been smashed through. We've been burgled by a cat 😼!!

ChristmasSeacow · 04/01/2020 09:18

Oh dear Wolf, the work worry isn’t good.

What actually is a cellar head? I’ve never heard the term before!

Need to buy a bathroom suite today. Also lots of tidying up is still required. I need to empty out all the cupboards in the bathroom. The bathroom blokes are going to get a skip so I can chuck all the stuff that has been annoying me. I am unreasonably excited about that!

I also need to find all the paperwork for my tax return, which for various reasons was complicated that year. That’s tomorrow’s job.

Unescorted · 04/01/2020 09:36

Morning!

Today is a day of yet more washing and tidying up crap, none of which is mine. I have just got sick of all the stuff everywhere. Good news is that we are eating at M&Ds so it should be a NSD and NCookD.

Wolfcub · 04/01/2020 10:14

Sea a cellar head is basically your under stairs cupboard but smaller and with the lethal inconvenience of open steps down to the cellar

I have finished the ironing marathon. I hate ironing. Now for the dishwasher.

I'm skimming threads on MSE to try and keep my head frugally straight. I know I do better in this part of the year and then get lax later on so I'm encouraging my brain to think frugal

ChristmasSeacow · 04/01/2020 10:23

Ah. I see. Ta!

ChristmasSeacow · 04/01/2020 10:27

Whilst trying to update the OS on my iPad last night (in order to install One Note) the wretched thing has frozen and I cannot unfreeze it. I think
I’m going to have to do a factory reset. Gah.

I slept very badly due to coughing so hAve just come back to bed to see if I can nap for a bit. I have loads to do but really can’t get through the day this tired.

ememem84 · 04/01/2020 10:40

I just tried to reset my old phone. Turns out I unlinked it from my iTunes account before I should have. So need to sort this out now before I can package it up.

Dh made a fuss about going out for a walk. So I stressed and got the kiddos ready. Dh has leisurely had a shower. Got him self ready. Usual crap. I asked him to do the chores today. As if he was a single parent.

OP posts:
ememem84 · 04/01/2020 11:13

Should clarify. I’m not suggesting dh becomes a single parent. Just that I seem to do everything. So for once it’s his turn.

A friend told me once that the easiest way to manage with kids is to just think of yourself as a single parent. So do what you’d have to do if there was no one else to help.
