@unescorted muffin recipes use oil instead of butter so could a lot of your tinned fruit be muffins or a muffin topped pudding?

Also tin pineapple, jar bbq sauce, chicken thighs plus slow cooker = Hawaiian bbq pulled chicken to be eaten in baps.

Can you ask for bags of aunt Bessie crumble topping so people only need that and a tin of fruit and tin of custard

Jack Monroe has a tinned peach and chickpea curry

So proud of myself today!

£8.60 bus and metro which is IMO extortionate. Can't wait to get my car back.

Took food and a drink to college and resisted costa.

Popped in to Aldi and instead of walking up and down the aisles I just went straight to the bits I needed and avoided the middle aisle completely £6.23

I have a night class on a Thursday and will often get McDonald's or takeaway on the way home but today I made sure I ate before I went and I took a drink and a coffee with me.

Giving myself a big pat on the back for today. Smile

Ooh and I've been doing the penny saving challenge but just ticking off whichever amounts I have in my purse rather than working through it.

Haven't added anything in today as i don't have any actual cash. This is common I pay for most things by my phone. I'll add two days worth tomorrow.

Also spoke to DJ earlier about overpaying our mortgage. While we’re only on just over 1% interest there seems to be little point in overpaying. Especially as we’ve got nursery fees x2 to pay for. When things change though - when mortgage is up for renewal (in 4 years) will rethink this.

To me when interest is low is the ideal time to over pay , as you will be paying more off the capital .If /when interest rates rises the less you owe the better position you will be in

This was DD’s hair this summer - looks like this again now after having a couple of inches chopped off (I didn’t think to take a faceless view today). Weird how it looks smooth on top but then still forms ringlets. They bounce as she runs about - it’s very cute and she gets lots of compliments off strangers Grin. Sadly, my hair is more of the frizzy-curly variety 🙄

Unescorted, crab - linguine? Bit of butter, lemon, dried chilli flakes, linguine or spaghetti?

I've been putting at least 1 £1 coin away every day since the 1st of January. Am £19 up as of today. Saves the faffing about of the original 1p savings challenge. I've been ns since the start of the new year and have really cut back on my shopping spends. DP is delighted with the different meals we've been having and hasn't realised how little they've cost. He suggested a takeaway this weekend, but I'd rather cook and save some extra dosh. I'm enjoying the challenge of really saving hard.

mybrainhurtsalot · 09/01/2020 21:49

I’m implementing the idea from earlier in the thread about saving the odd amounts at the end of your balance so you have a round number in your account e.g. if the balance is 223.43, I’m transferring 3.43 to savings/credit card. I hope it will be sustainable throughout the month but we’ll see...

SnugglySnerd · 09/01/2020 21:56

GuyFawkesDay · 09/01/2020 22:13

Bit of a fail day. £35 scouts subs, £36 on a new dress 🙈 but I wear this brand every day and I love them as they're so comfy and have pockets! I can always send it back 😬

Have made more Monzo pots and moved a bit of money about to see if I can not notice it being there and then I can go nuts buying plants online for my new garden 😁. Need furniture too....that's gonna be £££

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 09/01/2020 22:38

BuddhaAtSea · 09/01/2020 22:48

£5 in Tesco on dog food, £15 on other stuff.
Tomorrow is spendy, but I am saving myself an awful lot in the long run.

Taytocrisps · 09/01/2020 23:26

Should have been a LSD

€1.99 for tin foil
€1 for stamp

Got home and I discovered that I have to pay for exam paper correction for DD (she's sitting state exams this year). I gave her €18 for tomorrow but that just covers one subject.

I also bought sanitary towels for DD but they were free with my Boots points.

Day off tomorrow Smile.

SnugglySnerd · 10/01/2020 07:05

Should be another nsd. Have only paid 30 pounds car tax all week!

ememem84 · 10/01/2020 07:57

Don’t think it’ll be an nsd today sadly. Ds was up last night with a wicked cough. Sounded like when he had croup last year. So no swimming for us today. Instead I think I’m taking him to the dr. Dh thinks I’m potentially over reacting. But it is Friday and I don’t want a weekend of worrying about ds. Although on the flip side of it is a viral thing (which is a big possibility) fr won’t do anything anyway.

Anyway. Potential spends £40 at dr.

Also need to drop parcel at the post office so I can return the fridge shelf.

I know what you mean about the weekend of worry Em. We’re taking DD to the doctor today as she’s a thumb sucker and her thumb is looking very swollen and purple. I was fretting about it in the night!

I’m out tonight (dinner if I can get away in time, defo karaoke) so not an NSD.

ChristmasSeacow · 10/01/2020 08:02

Ps you have to pay for exam marking Tayto? Shock

Thanks for the DD hair love too Wink

Mrsmadevans · 10/01/2020 08:12

@Christmasseacow
Your DD hair is beautiful , such a lovely colour too. I also love her bright top she has on 😄
Hoping for a nsd today 🤞
Have a great day everyone 😀

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 10/01/2020 08:55

Just catching up, been a busy week with work being full on and stuff going on.

Ystd spent £4.50 in the co-op on milk, bread and bits. I seem to be spending £70 ish every two weeks at Aldi which is fine and better use of time as well.

Had dds options evening last night, scary looking at GCSEs and what they entail. I knew they were mostly exam based now but was shocked to see subjects like English and science have no coursework element!! Bloody Gove 🤬 Dd has some recall memory issues that SALT picked up on so I need to speak to the school about how they're going to support her.

Seacow your dds hair is beautiful 😍

Wolfcub · 10/01/2020 08:56

Sea those curls are glorious

Will need to pay for parking later. I have a reward voucher for free coffee and cake so going to use that to treat myself.

Ironing done
Washing on
Ocado order put in and meal planned
Bathroom cleaned

Now trying to psych myself up to dust and vac

nibdedibble · 10/01/2020 10:13

Today will be an nsd as I'm not going anywhere Grin

I'm going to do a ton of pickling and meal prep for the coming week as day off work. And some exercise which is free. Lovely.
