Hmmmm we're in Blackpool. Not putting what we've spent I don't want to think about it! Grin

ibuiltahomeforyou · 14/09/2019 21:04

I spend £6 in Superdrug on two nail brushes and some denture tablets for my braces, and another £8 in Wilko on two sets of chewing gum, a wipe-clean board for meal planning and some cacao bites.

DH got a Starbucks for him and DD.

I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow and DD's too but am going to get a mobile hairdresser to keep costs down.

Looked into changing my phone too as it's out of contract.

ChristmasSeacow · 14/09/2019 21:26

Hello! Glad people are having a good weekend. I’m not quite keeping up, sorry.

Week continued to be awful. This board paper I’m writing is like a cockroach that refuses to die. After the late nights last week I sent it round for comment and EVERYONE has some sort of objection /issue to something. So I have to rewrite it tomorrow. Incorporating everyone’s detailed points while making it shorter 🙄. I am fairly annoyed that after a shitty week it’s now encroaching on my weekend. But hey. Diet has fallen by the wayside because I am Pissed. Orf.

Busy one here because today was the local jumble trail. I had a stall and sold loads of kids’ clothes but not much other stuff (had some dvds and few toys /household items). I made about £120 selling stuff, which was good, but tbh, for £2-3 here and there for really lovely items in perfect condition, I’d almost rather give them away. I’d prefer that my friends (even not close friends) benefitted than strangers. So not sure how I feel about it all Confused.

Anyway, it was quite a jolly event, there was good cameraderie on the streets and the friend (whose house I was supposed to go to) came to mine so that worked out well. And we defo had more traffic here. But it was pretty hot and we were in full sun all day so I’m exhausted now! I also baked like a maniac and sold cakes for my local autism charity. Made £45 so also feel happy about that.

Tomorrow - work and getting started on making stuff for DS’s birthday next weekend. Need to produce 30 cake pops to get ahead, and also make some fondant Mr Men. And rewrite my paper.

What is Temple about ? I’m after some new telly!

Wolfcub · 14/09/2019 21:43

Sea Temple is about a Dr who suffers a family tragedy and it leads him into an interesting and alternative new path. If I tell you more I will spoil it for you but I will tell you it’s brilliant

Dorsetcamping · 15/09/2019 07:44

Up at Dawn's crack to help my DM with a car boot sale. At least it's going to be a lovely day and hopefully we'll make a few £

maddenlightfoot · 15/09/2019 07:50

Yes please to looking for HP pjs curvy. The Asda ones are £9 for child size and £15 for ladies so would be good to know a rough price comparison, also wondering if they do mens? (But only if you happen to see them, don't want to take up valuable shopping time 😁! Thank you!)
Oh and great deal on the dyson- I want a cordless so much!!

Sea that's so annoying about the paper 😩 - especially with DS birthday to prepare for.

Picnic out for us today for friend's birthday. Everything already bought but there may be a pub stop (il just be on water though as still trying to lose some lbs)

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/09/2019 08:17

I would be so vexed about the paper sea. Are they valid comments or just people thinking they need to say something? The latter pisses off more. Your don't have to say either. Random thought.

Speaking of random thoughts does anyone use fennel seeds? I seem to have 3 jars and I will only use one. Seems a shame to waste them so I'm happy to post.

Odd and ends from Sainsbury's that I forgot today. Some boots specific toiletries needed.

Had a good sort of the clothes in the attic. Some to charity. Summer stuff in the attic now.
Neither DC have winter stuff that fits though. Trip to shops soon when I work out what they need.
DS may well be ok as he has jeans and runs warm anyway so lives in t shirts.
DD is now marginally taller than me and everything is ankle grazing.

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/09/2019 08:19

From memory I don't think the Primark pj are much cheaper than the Asda ones. I will have another look if I get there today to return some bottoms

Taytocrisps · 15/09/2019 09:45

Morning all. I heard it was going to be a lovely sunny weekend so I did some cleaning yesterday and planned to reward myself with a walk around my favourite garden today (big house and garden minus the big house because it burnt down years ago). But I woke up to grey skies and rain Sad. I don't think it's actually raining atm so I might go anyway. And bring a raincoat.

On a happier note, my home county won the All Ireland football final (Gaelic football) for the 5th year in a row.

I need to pick up a few bits in Lidl today. I've settled into a routine of one big shop in Tesco every month and then small weekly shops in Lidl. Seems to be working well. I'm spending a lot less on food now that Ex has moved out.

DD is doing Romeo and Juliet in school so we watched the Baz Luhrmann movie last night.

I read back a few pages.

Love I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad Flowers. Must be so tough on everyone and especially your poor Mum.

Seacow and Wolf sorry work is so stressful for you both atm. Wolf hope the car problem doesn't work out too expensive.

Happier fingers crossed for your mortgage application. I agree that the au pair's behaviour was very odd.

em get well soon. I can't believe your DH isn't comfortable to be left alone with his two DC! How does he think you manage by yourself all week? But I guess he couldn't help throwing his back out.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 15/09/2019 09:52

Madden the cordless is great!
Ex use to hoover the stairs with the Henry, but I find it difficult to hold it and hoover due to weak wrists.
I'm going in all parts of primark, the dcs need some bits and ds2 is now in mens sizes, so not a problem.
Life may find them first. I love this thread, all trying to help each other, it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling!

ememem84 · 15/09/2019 10:03

£27 M&S - fruit flowers and biscuits
£30 for a mindfulness and yoga retreat next weekend. 3 hours on Sunday afternoon. Dh is staying home with the littlies. I asked if he minded if I went. He doesn’t. But is annoyed he can’t come too. I’ve suggested he find a babysitter and come along too (although know he won’t bother...)

I also asked him last night what the difference if between him being left for a couple of hours and me being left for a full day on a Friday when I go back to work. Or when dparents are away so can’t have ds.

Apparently the difference is work is a necessity. And my riding isn’t. Hobbies are not necessary.

Except they are because it gives us both the headspace we need.

Taytocrisps · 15/09/2019 10:17

I agree with you em. Hobbies are vital. And it's only once a week for a few hours. It's not like you're out 3 nights a week and all weekend.

Wolfcub · 15/09/2019 11:35

Spends yesterday not including train fare and activity which were prepaid. £30 breakfast, £21 late lunch/early dinner. £3 drinks £2.60 tram fares £30 uniqlo on tops

Littlechocola · 15/09/2019 12:04

Just had to move £100 from savings account to current account to stop me going into my overdraft before payday. Grr.

This weekends spends-
£32 food shop
£14 new shoes (needed for new job)
£24 event tickets

New job will mean less money but more work/life balance (hopefully). Really quite nervous about how we will cope so have already signed up for overtime which defeats the purpose of new job!

Paid garage bill on Friday.
Debt is down to £1741

ememem84 · 15/09/2019 12:27

Both kiddies are napping. Result.

Dh has put his laundry away?!?! And is currently beating the hell out of the living room rug.

I’m enjoying a cup of camomile tea and am putting laundry away. I need to get into ds’ room to put some of his stuff away but don’t want to wake him.

Wolfcub · 15/09/2019 13:14

Em enjoy the peace

I’m having a frugal baking moment, haven’t baked properly for a very long time, luckily my trusty kenwood mixer seems to have forgiven me. Four minging bananas, one pack of past their Best Buy hazelnuts and four eggs that were due to go past their Best Buy on Tuesday. Should produce two chunky banana loaves if my oven behaves. Mix smelled amazing

WreckTangled · 15/09/2019 13:22

I've made dd leek and potato soup for lunches next week (her request) but still need to make ds pasta pesto. Dh has taken ds to the football field for a bit and dd is painting her nails. I'm sitting in the sun in the garden. Sunflower is 11.5ft

CurlsandCurves · 15/09/2019 15:42

Oooh that bread looks good wolf I could really go for a slice (chunk) of that right now. I’ll just make do with a couple of Aldi Jaffa cakes instead 😆.

Fantastic surprise yesterday. The house we used to live in over 14 years ago has been re banded for Council Tax, and totally out of the blue arrived a cheque for almost £500! I’ve checked our home to see if it’s in the correct band, but never realised you could do the same for previous homes you’ve paid council tax on.

Taytocrisps · 15/09/2019 15:45

That's a nice little windfall Curls.

Littlechocola · 15/09/2019 15:50

wolf that looks delicious

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/09/2019 16:03

Fab sunflower
Looks good wolf.
Baking here to test silicone cupcake cases. No bother this far.
Some loitering brambles are becoming a crumble.
£8.05 Sainsbury's

Hobbies are very important em. We need time and space to be just us.

Great wind fall curvy

WreckTangled · 15/09/2019 16:13

Wow curls that's great! I hate paying council tax. Ours is £160 a month and we only have a two up two down house. I remember when we used to pay £96 a month Grin

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 15/09/2019 17:54

Madden these were the ladies ones
