NSD yesterday

Happierwithouthim · 11/09/2019 09:07

actually put spotlight whitening strips in my basket using a 20% discount code 'Ciara20' until tomorrow if anyone wants to use it, and then exited because it's a want not a need, and if I searched around I've got a couple of beverly hills ones left and can get them on offer for €10 vs €28 for spotlight on offer

Lovemaltesers · 11/09/2019 15:24

The nurse who came out today thinks he is doing ok for now where he is. He’s going to recommend medication which should reduce the agitation eg pushing my mum out the house but it won’t cure the confusion itself. He doesn’t think it’s anything physical and dad still looks after himself well.
He thinks my mum has a good plan in place, which she does and she knows to remove herself.
My dad basically wouldn’t answer any questions but would answer with memories of being a child during the war. And he just wouldn’t stop. This upset me a ridiculous amount.

Fortunately I only work 4 days madden, and as DD2 started school this week I can make up time on the fifth day now. My boss/HT were understanding about today, not sure if long term they will remain so patient. I had to get through so much paperwork this morning to get away for the afternoon as my work piled up last thing yesterday! Everything is last minute dot com, but urgent and necessary

Lovemaltesers · 11/09/2019 15:26

meadow I never got my mum to look after a child who was still being sick. Once they stopped for the 48 hour period for being off daycare, then yes. But that was more because I was concerned she wouldn’t react properly if they got more unwell.

And yes, go and sleep in the spare room Smile

Wolfcub · 11/09/2019 17:23

£12 McDonald’s emergency dinner which we are currently eating in a lay-by
£6 new notebook for work

Totally fed-up.com today

Love good that he can stay at home for him but so hard for your mum

Lovemaltesers · 11/09/2019 19:52

Sorry you are having a rubbish week wolf

ChristmasSeacow · 11/09/2019 20:22

Me too Wolf, shitty day at work, I’m not feeling appreciated. At. All. Hope things look up for you.

Love is your mum fighting to keep DF at home at any cost or will she admit it when it’s time to get more help?

Lunch was c £6 today - I normally take lunch but I had way too much to do last night. I had a reeeeeaaaaallly delicious soup from itsu with brown rice and curry miso broth and spinach, with gyoza on top, and some edamame beans. Utterly yummy.

Shitty day though. I need to stop brooding about it, normally I can put work out of my mind when I get home but today it’s really hanging over me. Time for dinner, telly and knitting I think!

You still reading Lap? Hope you guys are doing okay x

Wolfcub · 11/09/2019 20:38

Sorry to hear you’ve had a shit day too Sea. Sounds like we’ve got the same job at the moment. I ended up with chest pains today and I’ve nearly cried twice this week and I don’t cry. Stupid jobs! Hope the knitting has helped Flowers

SnugglySnerd · 11/09/2019 20:41

Checking in. Been a crazy week so far. Will read back now.

ememem84 · 11/09/2019 21:33

I don’t think so happier I mean when dh can’t sleep or I can’t sleep and we’re in the same room the non sleeper gets resentful of the sleeper.

It’s something we’ve always done when one of us isn’t well. Almost relying on the other to stay well so they can pick up a bit more and they can get an undisturbed sleep.

Dm thinks we have marriage troubles though. But she thinks we should spend every waking minute together. Her and dad sleep in the same room even though she sleeps terribly because he’s up constantly. She will not sleep in one of their three spare rooms...... people might talk!

MeadowHay · 11/09/2019 21:41

FlowersWineBrew for everyone who is feeling sad, fed up, stressed about work/family/etc.

DD seems to be on the mend already so hopefully just a 24/48hr bug. She hasn't vomited again since this morning but has had diarrhoea throughout the day. DM said she is fine to have her with diarrhoea she just really doesn't like vomit lol (she usually has her on Thursdays). So hopefully she won't suddenly be sick again in the night/tomorrow morning and she can go there as usual. She ate a small dinner which is the most she'd eaten all day so fingers crossed she is getting better. She took a few steps herself this evening! She was v pleased with herself. Hopefully it will give her some confidence that she needs to get moving more, bless her.

No spends after my bus fare this morning. Tomorrow I am meeting two of my mum friends who work near me for lunch.

ememem84 · 11/09/2019 21:56

It seems as though catface has forgiven me for her vet trip this morning.

Have just put the whitening treatment on my teeth. They feel Hollywood white already! Haha. Disclaimer it doesn’t work that fast.

£11 coffee and breakfast/brunch.

£8 nappies. I didn’t have time to pick up the boots order sobgrabbed some nappies from the chemists underneath the dentists. Fancy pampers air pocket ones.... ffs. Left the packet on the cabinet near ds’ cot. He grabbed them and got into them.

£10 on entry to static air display at airport. Ds was excited. He got to sit in a fire engine. And saw a helicopter.

CamdenTownie · 11/09/2019 22:03

Nsd for me today! Victory Grin

I did have to write a cheque for girl guides, but that was factored into this months costs.

We've got a little over £200 to last until 27th when dh and I both get paid, I've been putting the bulk of our money after bills straight into a savings plan account on payday so it's not there to tempt me, then giving myself quite a strict budget for the month. It's not a tiny budget but we are 3 adults and 2 kids (ds1 at uni) so don't include him) lunches cost quite a bit as we can use a whole loaf of bread and block of cheese/ pack of ham in one day if dh and ds2 are both having pack ups as well as dds.

I think we can do it, because we only need to buy food and I do have quite a bit in the freezer & store cupboard. No fares or petrol etc, my biggest problem at the moment is dd2 wanting school dinners, the fingerprint thing is all new to her as she's just started senior school and she's spending lots, I put £7 on her account so she could get something occasionally, but she's not great at self control it seems! Paid £7.50 yesterday for a ticket to the school disco as well.

I'm thinking of buying a sack of spuds to last us, as it's not very warm now I think they could Last two weeks or so, I'm managing to stick to the meal plan, taking leftovers or pasta to work for lunch, and write a shopping list which I stick to 99%.

ChristmasSeacow · 11/09/2019 22:06

Too tired to knit, just heading to bed. It’s my day off with DD tomorrow so I’m just going to try and enjoy her company.

Happierwithouthim · 12/09/2019 06:05

For once my account has more money than joint account Grin Paid weekly
Waiting on a refund into credit card account & then I'll be closing that.

My mortgage application is gone off for approval in principle I'll know in 7 working days

Saw tickets advertised for a star is born musical thing locally so will see if bf will go with me & if not I'll ask friends instead, it's just €10 each

Ds had a bad dream at 3.30am so I opted for the easy life & let him get in with me Hmm think it may be because of staying at dads for entire weekend or meeting bf or being back to school, told me he doesn't play with anyone at breaktimes Sad

Yay meadowdd on the walking Grin
em as it should be
Wolf & Sea hope today is a better day for you both

Love Thanks

Great news happier re the accounts. Fingers crossed for the mortgage.
Sometimes you have to take the easy way.

Ah so cute em. Blinded by your smile from here - ting Grin

Did you go in the spare room meadow. Wish we had a spare for when DH snores.

Well done Camden. You can do this.

There are loads of spends I haven't reported. Things have for a bit out of control.i will rein it in from today.

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/09/2019 06:34

Love Flowers

Girliefriendlikescake · 12/09/2019 07:13

Up early with the puppy, he slept loads Ystd and looks visibly taller today 😁

Ystd I started Christmas shopping £50 on Amazon, that includes a bday present for my brother as well.

I also have £200 to last until the 27th and if you can do it cam then I should def be able to! Do you have a co op or somewhere that does good yellow labels near by? We have a local co op and at 6.30pm they put all the bread down to 12p! Yy to spuds being a cheap meal, dd loves jacket potatoes so we often have them twice a week.

Work today and not feeling the love for it!!

Meadow glad dd is feeling better, vomiting bugs were one of the few things I wouldn't ask my mum to help with purely as wouldn't want to spread the germs on to her.

Hope you caught up on some sleep sea

Hope you're okay Lap?

love such a difficult situation, dementia is so cruel.

SnugglySnerd · 12/09/2019 09:19

We don't have a spare room. Dh just gets kicked when he snores!

Happierwithouthim · 12/09/2019 18:38

Very quiet thread today Grin

maddenlightfoot · 12/09/2019 19:45

I've started Christmas twitching 😱!! Had to buy a birthday present today. Ordered from Amazon and then needed to buy something else for free delivery so ended up buying DNephew's present and now I've got the bug 😂😂. I've filled an Asda basket with pyjamas but am holding out for now. In fact, does anyone know if Primark do Harry Potter pjs?

In other frugal news I've completed my online shop to be delivered on Saturday. I had a £7 off £70 spend voucher and managed to get it in at £70.40 😁! Pretty pleased as that's shopping to last 10 days and includes a present, fancy picnic ingredients and stuff for cake for a friend's birthday as well as lunches and dinners. (There will inevitably be some bread/milk too ups but I've already put cash in our spare change jar in the kitchen so should be covered by that)

Happierwithouthim · 12/09/2019 21:05

Excellent work on food shop madden seems like you got loads for your money.
I've got €25 off €100 spend in Dunnes to use by sat & 2 x €10 off €50 spends so I'll either get €100 for €75 or €150 for €115 or €200 for €155. Seeing as I've a house move pending. Probably do one of the first two

I got a mydealpage deal for Swarovski Christmas box or advent calendar & I put one box into basket for myself & my sister & then stopped myself because if I buy stuff now it's only more stuff to move Grin

mogloveseggs · 12/09/2019 21:06

Very spendy day.
New swimming cap (again) as ds lost his £5
£55 in Asda on food tech recipe, new pillows as my neck is bad, new duvet as dd friend sleeping over at the weekend and new duvet covers as dd and we only have one each.
Few bits in b and m for ds to take to camp £5
£17 in home bargains for Christmas!

northender · 13/09/2019 00:17

Flowers for you love. Dementia is so cruel.
camden great frugal shopping
Seacow hope you sleep well & have a lovely day with dd tomorrow

Does anyone have any experience of Monzo the app based current account? Ds is considering it so I'm trying to do a bit of research

I've stuck to our meal plan so far this week. Had lunch with friend today £5

CamdenTownie · 13/09/2019 06:23

Hey North - I love Monzo, I only opened it so ds2 could get the free fiver, but it's such a great account you can have separate pots for spending/saving and it gives you details of exactly how and where you're spending your money, you can also round up any purchases and the put the excess into one of your pots.

I used it as my spending account, so put all my grocery money in it on payday, these are my 'pots' at the moment, makes it so much easier than opening tons of savings accounts!
