My brother uses mine as does my bestie so I have multiple screens - Netflix is my one treat to myself Grin

WreckTangled · 20/02/2019 06:33

I pay £24 a month for broadband and Line rental. I don't have a call plan though as only use my mobile. Sorry I assumed it was tv. If you live in a big town I bet you can get it cheaper though.

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/02/2019 06:33

Fair enough sneaky. You are on a tight income, just trying to make sure you are getting the best value for money.

SneakyGremlins · 20/02/2019 06:35

I appreciate it life - with Netflix I pay one month, brother pays the next and so on Smile
Wreck It's just the internet! No TV/Calls.

WreckTangled · 20/02/2019 07:26

I'm rural and have fibre. I would be surprised if you couldn't get it cheaper. Definitely worth trying. You can check on compare websites I think

Girliefriendlikescake · 20/02/2019 08:39

Morning all,

sneaky you can def get broadband cheaper, I'm with ee and pay £21 a month, I also wouldn't be treating anyone else to Netflix other than you! Your Manchester trip sounds exciting, I've never been to Manchester.

wreck is there any chance of you and dd spending some one on one time together? I know when they're driving you mad you might not want to but she might open up a bit if it's just the two of you.

I'm just waking up, loving not having to get up for work!!

Just remembered I also spent £14 at the range Ystd as needed more slate for the front garden and picked up some seeds as well.

Wolfcub · 20/02/2019 08:45

Sneaky perhaps try looking on a switching site first to see what price you could get if you moved elsewhere. You need to account for potential set up fees too so in your situation look for a provider with no/low set up fees. That way if you find a better price you can say to Sky I’m switching to so and so, this is their price. Sky will either match it or not. If they don’t then leave for cheaper provider

Adora so sorry for your lossFlowers

Sea, enjoy your holiday.

Hope everyone else is ok.

Today we are going to go up to Arthur's seat and then to Glasgow.

Hope you all have a good day.

Happyinheels · 20/02/2019 08:55

I have to share yesterday's savings with you all - I need someone to share in my joy - the kids aren't interested!

Home insurance - was paying £43 a month, I've shopped around and got it for £24 a month! Saving £19 a month

Gas and electricity - current plan was due to end. Was paying £98 a month, got it for £89 a month! Saving £9 a month

Virgin - was paying £51.99 a month for TV, phone and broadband. Got upgraded to a higher speed broadband and also saving £5 a month.

But saving the best to last! Both my DD and my phone contract were ending. A friend told me about a cash back scheme you can do. I was paying £77 for the 2 phones - each. 1gb data, unlimited calls and unlimited texts. I found a SIM only deal on a cashback site for 3gb of data and unlimited texts, unlimited minutes. Rang my provider to see what they could do in comparison and I've got the bill to £19.50 with 3 times more data! Saving £57.50 a month!!!!!!! Overjoyed!!!!

Wolfcub · 20/02/2019 09:10

That’s brilliant Happier, those are some fantastic savings. Do you have a plan for the money you’ve saved?

Wow happier that is amazing!
Glad you’re having a nice time curvy

Got the day aaaaall to myself, the others already left. Baby still asleep.

Plumber did turn up quite quickly last night but couldn’t do anything. The parts are plastic when they should be brass or something?! So he’s phoning back today, and I’ve no idea if I can go out or not. A friend or two may pop round later anyway.

WreckTangled · 20/02/2019 09:19

Girlie you're right I probably need to do that. You're also correct in thinking I really would rather not be around her atm Grin

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 20/02/2019 09:20

Wow happier, well done!
Cag, thank you and hope you get an answer soon re the plumber.

Lovemaltesers · 20/02/2019 09:30

Great savings happier 👍

Struggling to get off the sofa this morning as feeling so relaxed Smile

DP made it back yesterday morning in time for breakfast and we had a lovely time between swimming and Lego activities. DD1 managed to wet herself, full on wet down to her shoes which meant we had to unpack the car to find dry clothes- she never normally does this. Made it home about 3pm yesterday and we both had a nap as we were so tired after a disturbed night. Spent about £100 between two meals and a trip to the Lego shop. The DC loved the Legoland Hotel.

I've ordered a free shower timer from the link on the mse weekly email. I was going to buy one so saving there. Our water bills keep going up- mainly because we hide in the shower for some peace and quiet after a long day at work Blush

Also sorted out my working hours for September and amended the childcare. My short day is now on a different day which works better for the DCs activities

SneakyGremlins · 20/02/2019 10:20

Well done Happier!

These are my spends today so far

Happyinheels · 20/02/2019 10:39

Thanks everyone! I knew you would share in my joy!!!

Wolfclub that's a very good point that I hadn't thought about! It has stacked up so really I should do something productive with it!

Cag hope you get sorted! Nothing like having to hang around waiting.

Love that sounds like a great idea. I've got 2 teens in my house - DD showers excessively and DS I'm lucky if I can get him to even splash water on his face! I'm on a water meter and it still works out cheaper than the water rates in this area.

SneakyGremlins · 20/02/2019 10:55

Had an email back from PPC people - they've said just send benefit letter and a cover letter - and realised they need it by tomorrow so have dashed to post office and spent SIX POUNDS FIFTY to ensure it gets there tomorrow Shock

Cagliostro · 20/02/2019 11:43

Ouch sneaky 😭

Love the new name happy ❤️

Just trying to find out why we haven’t had a call back from the engineer people 🙄

Lovemaltesers · 20/02/2019 12:31

I'm confused now. Are happy and happier not the same person? I think happier's DC are not teens...

Happyinheels · 20/02/2019 12:52

Hmmm I see! I'm Happy! My kids are definitely teens Hmm

Lovemaltesers · 20/02/2019 13:05

Well done on all the money savings happy 👍

Cagliostro · 20/02/2019 14:02

Oh I’m confused 😳😳😳 Sorry

Thatsnotmybaby · 20/02/2019 14:24

Spendy couple of days as I was travelling a lot, and needed a few treats to keep me going; I'm not even going to list them here Blush

Spends today:
£4 lunch

moimichme · 20/02/2019 15:09

Hi all. I've been quite good this week, even walking to and from the childminder's house (not taking bus), which is about 5 miles of walking (1.5 half-carrying ds) each day, so good exercise. I've spent a tiny bit on food/snacks at work, but eating at home otherwise and overall it's far more sensible than in the past. However I'm feeling very tired today and I have to do another 1.5 hours of teaching soon and I feel so worn out first world problems. I may just be coming down with a cold from ds. Must get moving. £1.50 so far today and that's it, assuming I can force myself to walk home again today.

Hope everyone is well. Smile

ememem84 · 20/02/2019 15:24

I got confused too. But doesn’t happier post spends in €?

£2 on Japanese spicy chicken noodle soup for lunch (to compliment a cheese and chickpea wrap Dh made which fell apart when I bit into it)
