Not me meadow but I think it was primark. They do belts which can go to super skinny.

Me too! I’m so excited already. Cancun in April 2020? Yes please!!!

WreckTangled · 01/02/2019 21:18

Yes it was me meadow as em said primark do loads really cheap.

Cagliostro · 01/02/2019 22:18

Series one (Cora) em - I started watching the other one accidentally first so have also seen the first episode of that.

ChristmasSeacow · 01/02/2019 23:10

Hello!

You got leccy again now Sneaky?

Cag that assessment sounds like a very good investment if you can manage it

I put the heating on this lunchtime when wfh - not frugal but I was sitting in a freezing room looking at it sleeting outside. But then I did a truly frugal thing and sent someone an email that was about them but intended for someone else (it was about the accidental recipient’s rather touchy stance about a work thing, not personal, but still...ShockBlushBlushBlush). It wasn’t the worst it could have been but definitely not good... though the heat from my flaming cheeks and the adrenaline rush meant that I was suddenly boiling and so turned the heating back off again. Silver linings and all that.

(Now someone please pass me a stiff gin...)

WreckTangled · 02/02/2019 07:04

Oh god sea I've done that before but with instant messaging and it was about my boss but I sent it to him! Awful.

I've got to go food shopping and to get fuel this morning. Hopefully the roads aren't too awful as it's hill after hill to get to the main road. Feeling uninspired for meals too.

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/02/2019 07:07

I'm IM my director by accident instead of my manager yesterday. Thankfully I wasn't cursing him.

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/02/2019 08:27

I don't skimp on hearing happier I just have a warm house.
Enjoy your weekend. You deserve it after this week.

ChristmasSeacow · 02/02/2019 08:52

Sneaky what on Earth is that?!

We don’t skimp on heating when everyone’s home, I just feel that to heat the whole house when I’m the only one here is a bit ridiculous, so I don’t normally have it on when I wfh, I just layer up and get a hot water bottle.

It’s my turn for a lie in. I’ve been awake for the last hour because the dc have been really noisy but I’ve enjoyed lounging and reading my book. I am finally getting back into reading again now I am commuting and I feel that life is better for it. I’d lost the habit /would fall asleep whenever I picked up a book but the worst of the baby tiredness has lifted now, yay!

About to get up and shower and try on some of my summer clothes, see whether anything fits me. We’re leaving for India in just over 2 weeks and nothing is sorted - we’ve booked flights but not even hotels Shock. That was DH’s job, I am sick of nagging.

Ocado coming today, £113. Includes a 10kg bag of basmati rice though.

Unescorted · 02/02/2019 09:26

Morning all.

sea if it is any consolation I forwarded a spreadsheet with all our partners financial assumptions to an external person.Thankfully they very honestly deleted it when they saw the recall & I had a read receipt on the original so I know they didn't open it. I now send links.

sneaky is that a local delicacy? Grin

em dd still does the most adorable snore...I appreciate I am biased and it may impact on her ability to have a long term relationship later in life, but it is so comforting to have the sound of an aircraft taking off at 3 in the morning. It means I don't need to get out of bed to check she got home safe.

Today is a washing day and a meal planning day (I am getting nervous about looming dates so it is all store cupboard recipes). I can see a very random shopping list. I live such a glamourous life.

Wolfcub · 02/02/2019 09:51

Happier sorry to hear it’s been a tough week. Flowers pm if there’s anything you need

£84 Lidl of which £20 was brexit wankery.

Happierwithouthim · 02/02/2019 10:05

I can see your point there seacow

I've gotten back into reading too and definitely feel better for it

Currently having my glitter strands covered at hairdressers Grin

ChristmasSeacow · 02/02/2019 10:08

Are you all stocking up? I must admit I am getting rather nervous... I have bought a huge stash of tomato purée from Tesco because it’s been out of stock on Ocado for weeks. But that’s the limit of my prep 😂. I do tend to have very full cupboards and buy in bulk though...

WreckTangled · 02/02/2019 10:15

I want to stock up but can't really afford it

Wolfcub · 02/02/2019 10:31

Sea yes a bit. It’s a struggle from a money point of view but I’ve got stress now because I could have eaten out of the freezer for a month and now that food is gone and I can’t teust the freezer to restock and I’ve depleted my cupboards too.

So I’m going to invest a little bit in stocking/restocking over the next few weeks. I am quite worried about a no deal brexit. From a work point of view I unfortunately have some insight that is giving me a bit of cause for concern.

WreckTangled · 02/02/2019 10:43

I should really be stockpiling insulin HmmSad

Lovemaltesers · 02/02/2019 10:44

I've stocked up on washing powder and dishwasher tablets. We might have no food, but we will have clean clothes and dishes Hmm

I'm currently writing my assignment due this week. Writing about redundancy at the moment which is not a cheery subject.

DD2 is still not well. She was ok with my mum yesterday but then came home and slept from about 5pm on and off.

Snow was disappointing yesterday, we all had to go to school. Freezing though.

Hoping to catch up more on here once assignment is done. Feel bad when I don't comment much on others comments

MeadowHay · 02/02/2019 11:23

I want to start stockpiling, I keep seeing the Brexit threads and the Brexit prepper threads and getting full-on anxiety about it. I think it's unlikely that we will suddenly have a no-deal Brexit because I still think it's unlikely that they would let that happen to us - BUT Trump is president of the USA, so...it's definitely a real and very scary possibility. And the implications make me feel proper scary. We don't have tons of space though and also finances are tight, and most of the time it's just me busy with DD with the pram so I can't carry much either. We have started to stockpile DD's formula, they said about 6 months of shortages for things didn't they? And she'll be on cows milk in June anyway so we only need enough to last us then. I think we've got about half what we would need now of powder but also need tons of pre-made ones as well. The scariest thing on the Brexit preppers threads though is even if you're on of the people who is super prepapred, if there are food shortages and stuff, what will you do about all your family and friends who may really struggle who haven't prepared? Because if you share round all your stuff then you all struggle too as it won't be enough...Confused and obviously anyone on low incomes will be worst affected if food and fuel prices suddenly skyrocket...scary. I mean most mine and DH's family and friends are on low incomes.

Wreck I know someone who voted remain, her husband voted leave, and he is now stockpiling insulin and wished he voted remain Hmm. DB is a pharmacist and their pharmacy has been stockpiling medication for months already.

Cagliostro · 02/02/2019 11:35

What volunteering does DS do wolf? I want to get the caglets doing some but it’s hard to find any that kids can do. We are helping once a month at a charity thing my friend does.

The assessment is really doable, it would use a huge chunk of savings though especially when you add in travel and accommodation (might tack on a bit of sightseeing as well, does anyone know Somerset?)

My mum read up on the charity yesterday though and she is really impressed, and said she would like to contribute a little which is amazing ❤️ I think they probably do payment plans if we need it, and there are some discounts for certain benefits/income (however not expecting that as usually we aren’t eligible for that sort of means tested thing, it often requires income support or no WTC etc. But will of course ask as any money saved is a bonus)

I feel utterly shit. Pretty sure the tablets have worn off now (after 8 days of taking none!) as I’m not getting the brain zaps and rage/paranoia etc. But physically... I think I may have to accept I’m in full on fibro flare up mode. I just had to announce I’m not arranging my usual world book day party this year. Just can’t push myself for that. Shame as they’ve gone really well before and I even had some leads for fledgling/indie authors to come and do activities etc. But... next year!

Small frugal win - someone was smoking weed at the cinema and it got in the vents and DD got upset, DH complained (not in a horrible way at all just a “any chance you could do something”) and they gave everyone who complained free tickets.
