Lonely that's cheap! It's £1.35 most places here and some are even more than that. That's for diesel not petrol.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/01/2019 12:42

Unescorted Hire th skip. If you haven’t ebayed stuff for ages accept it didn’t happen & skip it/charity shop it. If nothing else accumulated stuffs a fire risk. More so if it’s cluttering the escape route.

LonelyOversharer · 05/01/2019 12:44

Diesel is just a couple of pence more. My diesel car is kaput just now, but drinks vast quantities so I'm not exactly missing it.

WreckTangled · 05/01/2019 12:47

Envy I'm envious of your cheap fuel. Dh and I use £80/week between us.

QuiteFrugal2019 · 05/01/2019 12:51

I think thats going to be realistic going forward .

I did a long walk to the far end of the town and back (also, a walk around the perimeter of the park). AA Routeplanner tells me that's a distance of 4 km. + extra for the park. Don't worry, I don't plan to turn into one of those exercise bores who post daily updates of their walks/runs/cycles. But I'm happy I got off to a good start and I'm determined to keep it up. It's chilly so I was glad of my hat and scarf. My hands were a little cold at the beginning (left my gloves in work) but they warmed up quickly.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/01/2019 14:08

I got boxes from work that the loo rolls came in. Free and recycling

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 05/01/2019 14:11

unescorted I agree with fluffy just charity shop it, just do it. It's so much easier to stay on top of everything with less stuff.

autumn that sounds like a useful appointment and a good way of looking at things. That said you need to do what the chap suggested about actual places you would struggle to get to as well.

We were very good and went for the park run this morning, I was very slow but made it round and only stopped twice so happy with that. Watching Westside story with dd now 😊

SnugglySnerd · 05/01/2019 14:44

I too have a lots of stuff to Ebay. Mainly baby clothes though so it's not taking up much space. I am going to try and make a start on it this week. First step is to sort it by season.

Spends today:
£27 haircut
£2.10 milk (quite a lot of milk. We get though it!)
£10 nephew's birthday
£11 top up shop

Have already got my pj's on as I'm cold and my bra was uncomfortable.

MeadowHay · 05/01/2019 15:01

Tbh I've literally never meal planned and we waste very little food, other than the first few months of DD's life our waste felt like a lot but I think it was still less than the average family (I'm always Shock when I read stats about how much food waste average families have in the UK, even at that worst point for us it was nowhere near that bad!!). We do use a lot of frozen and tinned stuff, and we share the fresh fruit and veg with DGuineaPig.

I have tons of stuff I want to sell as well. I have delusions of doing a car boot sale as there's somewhere local that does indoor ones every month and I quite like doing them even though you make barely anything and I've told myself I will do one and anything I don't sell will go to charity shop. But still not got around to booking a slot, but they tend to clash with DD's Water Babies class so difficult now. Plus would rely on goodwill of DF to drive us there and back with our stuff as we don't have a car.

The GP yesterday prescribed ranitidine for DD and said it should show effects in about 2 weeks if it's silent reflux/if it's going to help, and if it doesn't make any difference then she will refer her to a paediatrician. And the pharmacist when I collected the medication said the same thing basically.

WreckTangled · 05/01/2019 15:08

That sounds positive meadow at least there's a plan with a time frame.

ememem84 · 05/01/2019 15:52

Riding done. Dh and ds came with me. Ds shrieked with laughter at the ponies. He’s seen them before but this time was properly interested.

Baked bean and cheese toasted wraps for lunch.

We’ve been up to local recycling shop to see if we could find something for the bathroom and a wardrobe for ds’ room. Was unlucky this time.

AutumnLeaves12 · 05/01/2019 16:01

I've been bashing away solving problems today and have taken a lot of junk out of the garden and freecycled it. Yay!

Girlie Thanks for your thoughts, but really that is what I am doing already and have been for years. This extra step of solving the problems that make going to places difficult is what I hope will help. Thanks for chipping in though, because I know you have experience of this too.

Tayto your walk sounds great.

Unescorted · 05/01/2019 16:05

I have done my books! All this decluttering has made me realise that I don't have a huge amount of things. The eBay shit is not mine otherwise it would have been to the charity shop many moons ago.

Another offer out to the horse riders out there... I pair of leather dressage boots. Size 6 - skinny calves. I only used them for competition so not even broken in properly. I have lost the boot pull and hooks that came with them.....they have moved house many many times.

Thanks for the box suggestions! I have liberated some of DH's "they might be useful at some point" boxes which have given me enough space to fold and sort by type all the kids clothing, having washed and discarded all the too small stuff. I can now see some floor space in DS's room...small victories!

Autumn there is a good article in the Guardian today about running and anxiety. It has some really good take aways, even if exercise is not your thing.

Oh unescorted if only they were a 7....

AutumnLeaves12 · 05/01/2019 16:24

Thanks unescorted I'll have a look. Smile

Btw Girlie I realised that I didn't report what the man said quite accurately. He said he thought it might be something like x but he didn't know as he was a trainee. He said that generally thing was to figure out what was hard, rank the challenges in order and do them. That's what I'm doing. He didn't specifically say that I should go to difficult places in order of difficulty.

Unescorted · 05/01/2019 16:28

em I will double check... My tooters are a 7 now but they were bought while I was still growing (I didn't stop until I was 20ish) my feet were the first thing to stop.

Hmm I think the freezer (and therefore fridge might be buggered). For the second time in a week I’ve found a puddle of water but it and the ice cubes melting slightly. I’ve made sure the door is shut and banged it on superfreeze. It’s alarm has not done off

Wolfcub · 05/01/2019 16:34

Gone off ffs

Unescorted · 05/01/2019 16:38

That is not good. Have you checked that the plug is all the way in? I only ask because I thought ours was broken but the plug kept getting caught on the mammoth washing pile as people burrowed through to find the other sock.

OP posts:
Unescorted · 05/01/2019 16:40

The other thing to check is the coil at the back....when it freezes it prevent the heat exchanger working. Fix it by completely defrosting the freezer ....this took ours a week.

Today so far:

  • Alarm went off at 6.45am which woke us all up. Initially pleasant and pleasant whilst being carried out, sat down and started crying so had to walk around with her til bottle was sorted. Sat pleasant for 10 mins or so on lap then started crying, quiet when picked up.
  • Cried when put down on changing table, briefly distracted with toy, then resumed crying and rubbing her eyes as being changed.
  • Ok being carried upstairs and briefly distracted with toy in her cotbed then resumed crying.
  • Ok when picked up then hysterically crying when putting hat on etc and when put down in pram, being strapped into pram etc.
  • Slept on the way to Water Babies. Was ok for first 20 mins in pool then cried on and off til the end of the lesson.
  • Screamed hysterically in the shower, and cried on and off whilst being changed, distracted a bit with toys and dummies intermittently.
  • Screamed hysterically when putting hat on etc, putting in pram and strapping in.
  • Slept in pram and remained asleep there for 3 hours which has literally never happened before.
  • Was mostly pleseant for 2 hours (which is very rare - I guess it was because she had the good sleep) then apart from a bit of crying when getting face and hands cleaned up after eating lunch.
  • Screamed hysterically for 50 minutes until DH took her out in the Baby Bjorn. Was quiet in there for about 35 minutes then fell asleep for 25 minutes in it then woke up and they came back in. Vomited and then cried when having hat etc taken off. Had a bottle, was pleasant for about 5 or 10 mins then screamed hysterically again, rubbing her eyes.
  • Managed to distract her now bouncing her in the bouncy chair with In the Night Garden on to try and get her back to sleep and now she's not going asleep but is dead pleasant watching the telly.

The 3 hour sleep and subsequent 2hr pleasant awake time has literally never happened before though. I think a lot of the problem is her being tired but there's only so many hours you can walk for especially when she only sleeps for half of the time you're walking.

Wolfcub · 05/01/2019 16:42

Thanks Unescorted I have just been to check. Definitely plugged in. It is typical that a whole bunch of shopping is arriving tonight. Luckily none immediately for the freezer but I was going to make bourginion and freeze half. I shall now hold off!
