Morning. Meeting a friend for lunch today but apart from that should be a lsd, think we need bread and milk.

Welcome frazzled. Are you going strictly gluten free for medical reasons? I was shocked the other day to see a packet of fruit gums said on the back may contain wheat. I would never have thought to check a fruit gum.

Sneaky I use a large pot to fry chicken in when I’m cooking.

I too have resting bitch face, in fact I have to work hard to maintain a neutral expression (especially at work) as I have a very expressive face that frequently is showing WTF. Not to the patients just the doctors 😉

AutumnLeaves12 · 09/01/2019 08:28

frazzled if you're thinking of going gluten free it's a good idea to ask your GP for a coeliac blood test first. That way if you feel much much better off wheat then you don't need to go back on it for 6 weeks to have the test.

For most kinds of wheat intolerance there is no diagnostic test Happier so people just have to try and see if it makes a difference. Sometimes the improvement is so great that it would be unsafe to go back on wheat to have the test.

born I love your story about your facial expression. I wish I knew what mine was like. I don't think it does me any favours but I have no idea what it does wrong.

SnugglySnerd · 09/01/2019 08:57

Ooh I was thinking of cleaning the washing machine today, Happier. Do you put the tablet in the drum or the little drawer? On a hot wash presumably?
I've just done the vinegar trick to clean the microwave. It's lovely and clean but the house smells like a pickling factory!
Bit too excited about cleaning today!

Sea ds2 was very late to come out of night pull-ups much later than six. I desperately tried not to make a big deal out of it as he couldn’t help it, but it was very frustrating. I kept him in pull-ups despite my dm claiming they were the reason he was not waking up to go to the toilet 🙄 as he was wet every single morning, sometimes within about 2 hours of going to sleep.

In the end he attended the enuresis clinic and actually ended up on desmopressin for a short time which totally worked for him. They recommended drinking plenty during the day to stretch his bladder (something that he was rubbish at) and double voiding at night time. So he would pee before he went to bed and then about half an hour later just before he was ready to sleep. Good luck I would imagine it would be even harder for you with ds’s sensory issues.

Autumn people laugh and tell me about my expressions. They will say “I turned round and I saw your face and I had to look away or I would have started laughing.” Which is fine if I’m aware I’m doing the face, but not so much if I’m not....

AutumnLeaves12 · 09/01/2019 09:10

That's brilliant Born. I wish someone would tell me what my face is doing wrong. Blush

Wolfcub · 09/01/2019 11:02

Is anyone using beeswax food wraps insteD of clingfilm/foil?

Happierwithouthim · 09/01/2019 11:03

Snuggly I put two tablets in the drum as that's what was advised on the hottest wash I had, which is 60.

Lemon is also good to clean microwave and smells much nicer than vinegar Smile

sea dd also went to an enuresis clinic and we had to do similar to born her output was half what was expected. She is a compliant child so getting her to drink more during the day was easy and it worked pretty well. Ds is not a compliant child and at 5 will wet the bed sometimes within an hour of going to bed even after going to loo at bed time and other times not at all. I take him out when I'm going to bed if he's still dry and otherwise don't bother. I stopped taking him out during the night shortly after H moving out as it had zero effect on him having a dry night but was really interrupting my nights sleep.

He was dry Christmas morning 2017 and 2018 though Grin

AutumnLeaves12 · 09/01/2019 11:09

Christmas we're not dry at night yet either. I think it's a fairly common thing. I do wonder if the comfy nappies are part of the problem.

ememem84 · 09/01/2019 11:16

I tentatively mentioned it to nursery (potty training that is) and they said wait till he’s 2. They don’t recommend doing it any earlier. The suggestion is that once he’s 18m get a potty and start playing with it. And start encouraging him to watch dh have a wee.

It’s not something I’ve done before (obvs) so will take their guidance and advice on it.

I was 🙄😳 at fils gfs suggestion. Ds is just excited. Seeing and learning all the time. Curious. So of course he’s everywhere. It’s all amazing and exciting. He says “wow” now.

wreck scan is on 21st. So not long now. I’m going to have to give in soon and buy maternity trousers/jeans. Mine are getting a bit snug. I did have a look in new look online yesterday but nothing suitable for work. Only ripped jeans. Will check out asos.

I’m going to hold out as long as I can though.

So annoyed today. Fitbit has just run out of charge. I’ve been up since early o clock and had already done 6000 steps. Gah.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 09/01/2019 11:30

Morning all, I think its def much more of a boy thing to take ages to be dry at night, dd was dry by 4yo with me lifting her at 10pm is for a while. I think when children at 7yo they will investigate so it might be worth asking your G.P for advice Autumn.

Took dd for her first orthodontist appointment this morning, she will definitely have braces but they want her to have two teeth out first Shock the thought of that makes me feel a bit sick. I had two teeth out at her age and was quite traumatised by it, I can not imagine dd letting them do it tbh.

Went to Greggs afterwards as we were both hungry £3.50.

Took dd back to school and went to Aldi spent £46 but have completely restocked the cupboards and freezer for that, saw that they are selling large bags of frozen chicken breasts for £3.50 which looks a good deal.

Bornlazy · 09/01/2019 11:36

I sometimes would put a pair of pants on underneath the pull-ups hoping that the wet sensation would wake him but it rarely did. In fact he was such a deep sleeper that sometimes he would pee right through and wet his pyjamas and still not wake up.

Bornlazy · 09/01/2019 11:38

Interesting ds1 was dry at night within weeks of being dry through the day so I had no idea what was in front of me

Happierwithouthim · 09/01/2019 11:46

Em if it's only got warning on for low battery it'll still record steps but not at empty obviously Smile

Dd is having her eyes tested tomorrow, I wear contacts and wore glasses from aged 12, she's going on 9. I'm superficial in that I hope she doesn't need them.
She will need braces too like your dd girlie can understand how you feel about pulling teeth, what did your dd say?

AutumnLeaves12 · 09/01/2019 11:47

We're signed up to the clinic already Girlie, but thanks for mentioning.

Happierwithouthim · 09/01/2019 11:47

Born ds doesn't even wake when he's soaked up to his ribs GrinI think the pee stays warm from his body heat Blush

SneakyGremlins · 09/01/2019 11:50

saw that they are selling large bags of frozen chicken breasts for £3.50

I wasn't dry all the time til 10/11.

Happierwithouthim · 09/01/2019 11:53

No wolf I toyed with the idea for a while but didn't go for it. I use Tupperware instead of clingfilm almost 100% of the time

Debating zoo at midterm, travel by train from dB & get dm, dsil & dn to go too.

Our last trip to zoo was horrible for me as h was in a mood culminating with him pulling handbrake on car & then jumping out of the car on edge of dual carriageway & disappearing up the embankment for about 30 mins, if my parents weren't expecting us to stay I'd have left him there. Angry
How did I stay with him after this with no apology or promise to change HmmShock

Happierwithouthim · 09/01/2019 11:54

Sneaky neither was one of my db and dd wasn't until maybe 7.5 so I'm not worried about ds it'll happen when it happens until then there's kylie sheets

AutumnLeaves12 · 09/01/2019 11:56

Sneaky that's good to know. Medics seem to be very unfussed about it all, which is nice.

WreckTangled · 09/01/2019 12:11

I waited to potty train both of mine until 2 and 3/4 then they were dry day and night in a few days. Just lucky I guess.

We do a lot of enuresis work. It's a misconception that withholding drinks, especially before bed, helps with night time wetting and children should be being encouraged to drink more to allow their bladder to strengthen.

AutumnLeaves12 · 09/01/2019 12:50

That's great that it went so well for you Wreck. Smile I'm glad withholding drinks doesn't help. I didn't want to do that part.

I seem to have come down with a bug today. I've been keeping a diary and unfortunately it seems always to coincide with my kissing ds's hair. Must stop doing that. grubby

ememem84 · 09/01/2019 12:57

BEen to phone co. As discovered that we haven’t paid anything for broadband and connection for 3 months. Sigh.

Phone also isn’t holding battery so went to see if I could get an upgrade. I can but have to increase my contract to £45 a month. Wondering if it’s xheaper to get a new phone.

WreckTangled · 09/01/2019 13:08

Yep ds has never wet the bed, not even once. Dd used to wet it when she was getting ill but that's it. We have difficulties in other areas with them though it's not all rainbows and unicorns.

They've shut the road near me so it's taking me almost three times as long to get to and from work Angry hoping my manager will allow me to adjust my hours temporarily because otherwise I won't be home in time for the dc.

Em does that mean you owe them lots of money? I think it's always cheaper to buy the new phone outright and get a sim only deal it's just whether or not you can afford to pay out that much initially.

SneakyGremlins · 09/01/2019 13:14

Paid council tax - £11 - and have a wok!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 09/01/2019 13:24

Been looking at iPhones on eBay, can get a reconditioned one in very good condition for about £240 (iPhone 6) which seems about average. Parents will help towards it.

Happier that sounds horrendous on the duel carriageway, horrible for you. Dd was quite shocked as wasn't expecting to need teeth out, so was I tbh, I will need to chat it through with her dentist i think. The orthodontist said if she needs to have it done under sedation or GA there is a 2 year wait!!!

Going to go to the dump in a min with a few bits.

Have spent £12 on joining Borrow My Doggy, hoping there are some local dogs we can walk!
