Wreck that sounds awful. Hope DH calms down and apologises. Is it a case of too much time together over Christmas? I know we all start to get snappy with each other if we’re all together 24/7.

We had a little New Years get together yesterday. Just us, my folks, DHs folks and my best friend and her family. Friends dd is 2 and super cute, she was the start of the show 😍.

DH is back at work today, I didn’t get up till 10 which was lovely. Plan today is get my house back. Tree down, kitchen sorted out, all the serving dishes that have been out since Christmas Day back in cupboards. Sling out a few bits of food that can’t be used, generally get back to normal.

Wolfcub · 02/01/2019 11:20

Wreck sorry dh is being such an arse Flowers

I am on my second load of washing, the tree is in the cellar. I knocked over some dehumidifier gel putitf it back and now have very sore hands and feet where I splashed myself. I have also cleaned the dog shit off ds’s shoe. It’s a glamorous life I lead

Lily you’ve inspired me to think about setting an ambitious annual savings target I am having a think

AutumnLeaves12 · 02/01/2019 11:30

I'm sorry to hear things were difficult there Wreck. We have been tired and snappy++ here because of work stress too. It's a bit of an exercise in diplomacy getting through the day sometimes. I hope things get better.

I'm super-happy today as I've been out for a proper outing for the first time in ages. Dropped off my long-suffering clarinet at the repairers. I was fretting that they would say it's garbage and that I should buy a new one, but mostly they didn't. Phew!

Also bought compost for the gardening fun and I was pleased to discover that I can still heft a big bag of compost, though not onto my shoulder any more. I used to be able to carry two 80L bags at once. #FifthDecade

Sorry to hear you are having such a bad day @WreckTangled. That really wasn't ok from DH; I hope he realises that ASAP.

I'm very late to this conversation but I was reading everyone else's top frugal tips and I think my own would be to do your supermarket shopping online. I realise this wouldn't work for everyone but it does for me, less impulse spending and, crucially, I review and take things out of my basket before I check out online, and I never do that when I'm in an actual supermarket.

Bornlazy · 02/01/2019 11:50

Nice to see you back wreck. I hope that your day improves. I think lots of people are probably a bit snappy at this time of year but it still hurts when someone makes you feel like shit Flowers

Bornlazy · 02/01/2019 11:51

wolf is it something caustic that’s went on your skin- has it burned you?

SnugglySnerd · 02/01/2019 12:01

Flowers for you and your DD Wreck.

Frugal win today. Exchanged a hideous unwanted Christmas gift for a £20 gift card. DD is rapidly growing out of her clothes so I think I'll use it for some leggings and things for her.

ememem84 · 02/01/2019 13:02

Refunded a jumper £18 on a gift card for M&S
Spends £18 jojo with a gift voucher on a backpack for ds with reins. He’s started wanting to walk everywhere now and is a runner!

£26 oasis actual cash (ok card) on a coat. I’d loved it when full price (bottle green knee length fitted wool coat). Reduced to £40.50. £14.50 on a gift card covered the balance. Coat was originally over £100. Yay!!!

£8.05 on sandwich for me (tuna mayo and cucumber) crisps and a hot ciabatta for dh.

Wolfcub · 02/01/2019 13:04

Born I think it was an irritant rather than caustic. I’ve rinsed all the areas that were splashed or felt irritated. There’s no major marks just some irritated exzema patches on my hands and an itchy patch on my foot

The bulbs I planted in October are starting to poke their heads through. This makes me feel both ridiculously happy and frugal Grin

LonelyOversharer · 02/01/2019 13:56

Not frugal here today, but nothing that wasn't needed...£42 post office. Included dp's driving licence, will transfer from paypal. £28 b&q, £24 pets at home, got my big boy a new lead (cannot find either of his) and a glowy collar thing for night walks steps for me. £18 MacDonalds drive thru. £24 chicken food, my loyalty card took £5 off. £5 tesco, paid with coins into auto till machine.

Having a coffee, then will do a bit of the garden, and walk my dogs. Poor things will be worn out soon.

wreck Flowers the end of the holidays is always a bit graty, not that that helps. Yelling and swearing at you infront of the dc (and making dd cry and worry) is not on. But you know that xxx

Thatsnotmybaby · 02/01/2019 14:09

Spends today:
£13 supermarket including a few bits for the freezer.

SneakyGremlins · 02/01/2019 14:17

Flowers Wreck

My face is falling off so I'm off to the GP at half three.

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/01/2019 15:01

Sorry to hear that wreck.

ememem84 · 02/01/2019 15:32

Made £27 selling my almost new trainers on eBay. Woop.

So that cancels out my coat purchase. 😀😉

Unescorted · 02/01/2019 15:33

wreck sorry to hear you have had such a shit day. I was very glad to wave dh off to work this morning.

Wolf the dehumidifing gel / liquid collected is caustic... Calcium chloride. Rinse the area with soapy water and rinse well. If you got it anywhere near your eyes get yourself to a&e so it can be neutralised.

Sneaky hope you are ok.

I have been throwing things out..... My family hoard all sorts so I am using their absence to remove all the things boxed up last new year. I think I might start putting best before dates on anything left in communal areas.

Unescorted · 02/01/2019 15:35

Does anyone want a "2" cake tin?

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/01/2019 15:50

How did it go Sneaky?.

£3.50 ear plugs.
£10 petrol
£3 gift bag and card. All the cards are shit these days.

90p garlic bread.
50p shampoo.

Where’s cheap to buy ceramic pot covers?. I’ve decided I want houseplants to purify the air. I tried Tesco but they want £6 for a sad looking peace lily so they can fuck right off. I saw one on the range website but it’s sold out. Don’t say ikea, I hate ikea 🙇🏻‍♀️

SneakyGremlins · 02/01/2019 15:58

The nurse thumbed through textbooks with a Confused face then called in the doctor who thumbed through different textbooks with a Confused face while I also sat there like Confused

In the end they thought it was something "shinglesy" so I have antiviral meds.

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/01/2019 16:08

How long do you have to give it before you go back?.

Unescorted · 02/01/2019 16:09

Hope the meds work sneaky. Did it come on really quickly? My ds gets coldsores across his face when he is run down and exposed to UV. It looks really grim.

Fluffy have you had a look at the online garden centres (parkers etc) you can repot into terracotta pots bought from b&a or the like.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 02/01/2019 16:20

Oh no sneaky that doesn't sound good!

wreck has dh apologised yet?

I've spent the day clearing up, the living room now looks lovely and tidy. Have also cleared out under the stairs and put a few bits on the buy and sell pages, a few bits I'll take down the dump tomos.

fluffy charity shops or a reuse shop for plant pots.

SneakyGremlins · 02/01/2019 16:24

It's only appeared in the last three days!

Unescorted · 02/01/2019 16:33

Hopefully it buggers off as quickly.

WreckTangled · 02/01/2019 16:34

Sneaky that doesn't sound good!

Girlie nope. Ds said he was crying (dh) when we first got home. I don't care.

Unescorted · 02/01/2019 16:39

Check him for half an onion up his sleeve wreck
