Nice restful morning so far.

Dozed until 1030. Have put laundry outside.

Had a nice lunch - halloumi humous salad bowl.

Caught up on the Big Bang theory and am now catching up on strictly.

I dont have a clue what you do with it Sneaky 😂 but YAY !
Xmas Smile
Ps that was quick !

AutumnLeaves12 · 17/12/2018 14:22

My ds spends all his time on the switch Sneaky. If you can give me clues of what to say about it I'd be very grateful. We have Zelda, Pokemon and Kirby. Which games do you have?

Ds cornered me with the present cupboard stuck open this morning and me frantically trying to unstick a coat sleeve that was preventing it from shutting. A battle ensued. And then a lecture, and a general loss of dignity all round. Nothing, but nothing gets past ds.

Thatsnotmybaby · 17/12/2018 14:28

Fantastic @SneakyGremlinsBrokeTheSleigh, enjoy Smile.

I'm home with DD as she is ill and the Boden sale has tempted me - £61. I also broke my golden rule of not buying on sale unless it's at least 40% off but I fell in love with a duffle coat for DD that was 30% off and I just couldn't resist; it will be a sensible winter coat for next winter though.

ememem84 · 17/12/2018 14:45

quite yep. He did. It’s like he can’t bear to grasp the concept that I might need looking after.

SneakyGremlinsBrokeTheSleigh · 17/12/2018 15:24

I have Mariokart 8 and Uno so far. Happy to answer questions Grin

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 17/12/2018 15:26

He should want to look after you em surely looking after his wife and unborn child is fairly standard husband stuff.

Busy day here but am pleased as got a fair bit done, so spends...

£20 various stocking bits and some bulbs, I going to make up two pots with bulbs and spring flowers as Christmas gifts to two friends that have been particularly lovely this year. Will look at the reuse shop for pots and primroses / cyclamen /pansies are pretty cheap.

£2 lunch

£5.50 posting two parcels

Went to Go Outdoors to get a few bits and they had mispriced an item so I ended up getting it for better than half price, it was their fault so was pleased with that, spent £20.

£45 aldi enough food to last us til Christmas.

So now have about a tenner to last until Christmas eve but am pretty much sorted I think!!

northender · 17/12/2018 16:08

Well done Girlie sounds like you're organised.
I've been avoiding study organising the last Christmas bits. Got a fcuk washbag with body spray & shower gel for ds £7 (half price at Boots) and found a number for Cuisinart spares to ask whether the waffle plates they produce for one sandwich toaster would fit ours, to be told that they will so I've got that ordered. No need for a whole new gadget, so less clutter and less money. Result.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/12/2018 16:11

£1 2 turkey roasting bags/6 standard roasting bags in Poundland.
£10 petrol.

Debating buying charger plates this year.

Aldi veg is now advertised as 28p.

AutumnLeaves12 · 17/12/2018 16:50

I think it's probably fairly common for Dads to feel like the pushed out older sibling when a new baby comes along.

I think that before the birth of children men can feel mothered by their wives, and that is probably a hard thing to give up when babies come along.

The trick probably is finding a way to make responsible fatherhood seem like a desirable role and that maybe means asking for help in the right way. Not always easy.

I realise that I'm sending this message from the 1950s so feel free to ignore me

Wolfcub · 17/12/2018 17:12

Sorry Autumn men are adults and they need to get a grip. We don’t need to make any special allowances for their little feelings. They contributed to making the baby so they can damn well grow up and take some responsibility. I’m firmly rooted in the 2000s I’m afraid.

Happierwithouthim · 17/12/2018 17:36

My h was jealous of ds & me feeding him as a tiny baby why did I make excuses for him for so long, he was jealous of his own son Hmm
Em I'm sure when your h deals with it he will revert to being a pleasant partner once more.

Wolf Grin

I received some lovely Christmas gifts at work today.

Happierwithouthim · 17/12/2018 17:37

One of the gifts was a bottle of brandy intended for my boss, CFO decided myself & my colleague deserved the bottles more Grin

ememem84 · 17/12/2018 17:58

It’ll all work out. I know that.

Dh claims he’s just as shocked as me re the new baby news. Which is fair enough. But he seems to be reverting back to his old ways. No help. Dm dropped ds off just now and asked if I needed help with anything. I told her what I have to get done. But have said to her I need dh to help me.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/12/2018 18:13

A lot of my elderly patients tell me their husbands were fucking useless until they got elderly and ill, then the husbands started to do all the house stuff. Unfortunately by then you’ve built up 50 years of resentment.

Brandy 👍 with coke?.

I got £8 off a £5 free bet and popped my “price boost” cherry on the same bet. Quite proud of myself.

Happierwithouthim · 17/12/2018 18:38

My replacement instant pot came on Friday but no one told me at work Angry

Went to use my gym membership for first time

Ordered last of ds's gifts from Argos & dsis will collect

Must buy babybels now

I've still got last years bottle unopened fluffy but yes with coke Grin

Unescorted · 17/12/2018 18:42

We did the whole role reversal. I went back to work ft when DD was 5 weeks because I earnt more than dh. He looked after her and then DS when he came along. It is only now when DS is old enough to look after himself that dh works full time. I am really shit at looking after the kids. I love them but I struggle with the day to day bits. I am annoyed that it is only now that he could have had parental leave. I only took maternity because it was expected.

AutumnLeaves12 · 17/12/2018 19:09

I kind of suspect that men are better at this stuff when they are retired because their testosterone levels are lower by then. I think that as young men their hormones are telling them to strut around being important and it's not until they are 55+ that they can calm down and be kind and helpful.

Autumn rather enjoys the strutting

SneakyGremlinsBrokeTheSleigh · 17/12/2018 19:10
Confused
ememem84 · 17/12/2018 19:15

Dh says he wants to wind down and workpart time. I suggested he drop down to 4!days a week in the new new year (2020). He’s said at his level it would be frowned upon. And that he’s worked hard for his career.

Which is true. And I respect that. But my job isn’t treated with the same respect? He’s suggested I go to 3 days a week.

Obviously this hinges on work letting me drop my number of days. But that’s a question for later on. Still need my scan appointment....

I twitched and called tha antenatal department. They said that my appointment is with the midwife and they’ll call me. I’m guessing not before Christmas then.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 17/12/2018 19:17

Evening all.
Welcome green
Yesterday I did some Christmas shopping without the DCs so got all their pjs, socks and choc. A few other presents and most of their stocking fillers, nibbles, soft drinks. Choc for teachers plus some vegan bits for me and DD1, spent £90, so was pleased with that.
If any of you are Matalan card holders, there is 25% off some of their pjs.
