Wreck are you making your butter chicken yourself? I love it but haven’t tried cooking it from scratch.

em sounds like my FIL Hmm I second retiring with a 🍷

Spent about a fiver on coffee with DH today. We’re meeting up with rellies for coffee tomorrow.

Another one not sorry to see the back of AF here.

ememem84 · 28/09/2018 20:50

....and we’re on to capital punishment. And how “they” should bring it back.

Wolfcub · 28/09/2018 20:53

Em run, run now. You will only be able to night your to tongue for so long

WreckTangled · 28/09/2018 20:53

Adora I'm afraid not. This is one thing it's definitely cheaper to buy a jar of! The butter alone would cost more than that if I make it from scratch...

ememem84 · 28/09/2018 20:57

Left dh to it. Watching travels with my father with jack Whitehall.

WreckTangled · 28/09/2018 20:58

We're watching a league of their own. Romesh Ranganathan is hilarious

Cagliostro · 28/09/2018 20:58

Has anyone told him that alcohol is a drug 🤣

Not caught up on the thread yet, this has to be the fastest moving corner of MN!

Cagliostro · 28/09/2018 20:59

I saw Romesh on a train once. He lives round here.

ememem84 · 28/09/2018 21:04

I love Romesh. He’s hilarious.

WreckTangled · 28/09/2018 21:08

Really cag?! That's so cool. He's touring next year but lots of the tickets have gone already

Wolfcub · 28/09/2018 21:29

Nice nails em. I love Romesh too

ememem84 · 28/09/2018 21:39

I’m in bed now. Dh is still debating various things with ddad. Dm is stuck in the kitchen. I tried saving her but she refused. So I’ve taken myself off.

It’s now me and catface and Pinterest. I’m looking for ideas for ds’ Halloween costume. Nursery are having a party. I want to spray his hair and send him in some dungarees with a knife as Chucky. But inappropriate much?!

SummerDaize · 28/09/2018 21:58

There are some fantastically cute toddler halloween costumes. We get tiny people coming to our door in them and I always end up remembering them forever as "the tiny witches" or "the ghost" and watching them grow up through their teenage years with extra fondness.

My neck cream disagreed with me so I'm now in the queue to have my neck thing frozen with liquid nitrogen. Pretty exciting stuff. I used to fool around with liquid nitrogen in the lab, so at a push I could probably do it myself, but I probably shouldn't.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 28/09/2018 22:25

I love that film wreck makes me cry every time I watch it though!!

I dressed 11 month old dd as a devil for a Halloween party!! My religious friend was horrified 😂 i thought she looked adorable.

Sorry to hear your ds is struggling north keep going back to the Dr's if you're not happy.

We watched the greatest showman this evening for the 50 millionth time, it's so good!!

I've been trying to think of a craft I could easily learn that would be cheap to do and I could give as gifts?! Any ideas?

SummerDaize · 28/09/2018 22:39

I've started doing painting by numbers sets Girlie. They come out amazingly well, and look nice on the wall. We have no pictures on our walls at all, so it does make the house look a bit more homely. This is the one I'm doing just now:

www.amazon.co.uk/MADE4U-Combination-Canvases-Children-Countryside/dp/B013Y97JQG/ref=sr_1_21?keywords=painting+by+numbers&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1538170643&sr=8-21

It's quite a lot of work though, and takes a long time. I do it for relaxation rather than to actually get a painting in any reasonable time frame.

SummerDaize · 28/09/2018 22:40

Oh, that one's a bit pricey actually. The first one I did was a tenner. That's not super-cheap either though is it?

My SIL knitted scarves for us one year, but I think wool is quite expensive too, isn't it?

A neighbour of ours used to give us a box of chocolates each year that was really just tiny coconut ice cakes in tiny cake papers that she'd made herself. That was always nice.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 29/09/2018 00:22

Lovemaltesers I don't know yet because those bills are still there for house & children Hmm depends on whether it's decided to continue like this until house is sold or whether to do maintenance etc from start. Suppose groceries would have to be removed from it but then should they because he'd still be obliged to contribute to food for dc & au pair just not towards mine Confused

Fluffy he definitely could!

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/09/2018 07:13

Hey I'm can post again.

Spendy day getting food for DS birthday.
£35 cake, £80 Aldi, £26 Iceland, £xx Sainsbury's tomorrow, £3 candles, £xx out on the lash with my old work colleagues. Fab night but God I miss them. £5 taxi home.

ememem84 · 29/09/2018 07:22

Morning all.

Spends planned today £30 riding. Then dh is taking me out for dinner tonight as a ore birthday treat. We’re going to the Japanese restaurant for sushi and Katsu. Mmm.

The super league triathalon is back here this weekend so we might go down and watch it either today or tomorrow.

I also have to bake a cake for work on Monday. We’re doing the Macmillan coffee morning. Yay.

Wolfcub · 29/09/2018 08:18

Life hope your hangover isn’t too bad this morning. I know what you mean about missing old colleagues - my old team was like family I loved them very much

Em dinner sounds lovely, hope dh’s labyrinthitus is improving

Ds has four ours of contact this afternoon/eve, that’s the longest we’ve done. I’m a bit nervous about the potential fall out.

Contemplating getting up and taking ds for breakfast as we haven’t been able to do anything nice together (that isn’t one of ds’s activities) since school restarted.

I was reading a graphic on Facebook about anxiety presentation in children earlier. It’s him to a tee it’s just that his reactions are very extreme. I need to try and remember that next time he goes off with a bang

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 29/09/2018 08:53

It's hard managing melt downs when you're on your own with them wolf I've been there with dd before. Is he still waiting for counselling?

Thanks for the ideas sunny will have a think.

Still in bed here, dd has riding this morning but no other plans atm. Would like to pick some compost up and do some winter/spring pots so might try and do that later.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 29/09/2018 08:54

Brilliant life Smile
Wolf wishing you strength ahead of this afternoon with ds

My ds stropped last night going to bed, second time this week, there's no talking to him when he goes into a rage I've tried softly softly and being extremely firm, nothing works. I changed his pjs and put him up to bed while he was raging, eventually my mother read him a story & he calmed down.

Spent €17.67 on lunch & snacks for journey in Lidl yesterday (personal account) then €13.73 in Aldi on food for our dinner last night so I used joint account for this. My rationale behind this is we could've brought a picnic from home & sweets & the like are a choice I made but dinner is necessary expense so that's why I used joint acc is that fair?
Maltesers will be interesting going forward what to do. I think I'd still like to keep household expenses separate from personal but maybe could just manage this in ynab, girlie you just use one account for everything?

Ds wants to reuse last years Halloween costumes yay Grin dd has chosen bits from Claire's so I will take her there to get them.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 29/09/2018 08:56

I'm lying in bed, dc are up with my father, he'll give them breakfast & then put them in front of tv while he goes farming

WreckTangled · 29/09/2018 08:58

Wolf you're doing an amazing job I can't imagine how tough it is for you

We're going to Brighton today WITHOUT THE DC!! I got dh tickets to see Jason derulo for Christmas it's always been a bit of a joke that dh has a man crush on him. Should be good.
