😄 agree Cags. I was going by the Lakeland , Hobbycraft moulds. I've never made them not enough cake I prefer a cupcake.

WreckTangled · 19/09/2018 19:30

I would say the size of a golf tennis ball

SnugglySnerd · 19/09/2018 19:32

Well today was...windy! Trying to push the double buggy into nursery was like wind surfing! £2 something on lunch because I was disorganised.

QuitelovesStrictly · 19/09/2018 19:35

Sea I would think the size of a large Clementine ?
Hmmm yes Im sure someone is reading fuck awf due to things they say in RL.
£200 ish on coffee Shock
Crikey you will save tons if you get a Contigo cup and get an aero press .
We ditched the pods as didnt like the environmental impact and have a big old Ikea metal cafetiere if we are having a few cups.
Nothing beats my Aero press though-lovely

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/09/2018 19:39

NoFilter You've done brilliantly but there must be a cheaper way to have coffee than nearly £200 a month. Could you try the aldi ones?. Lidl and Aldi coffee aren't bad at all. I drink an organic espresso blend now but it's not massively better than lidl espresso. If you don't like the taste just return the un-used ones and get a refund.

If it's a coffee for work would it be cheaper to buy a machine for work?.

Tomorrow is a roast dinner with vegan Yorkshires. This time I'll put more in the tray so they aren't the size of 50p pieces.

That sounds a lovely night out Curves. an MA is no small achievement.

ememem84 · 19/09/2018 20:14

Ahoyhoy!

Busy day and I lost a post.

Post office. Done.

Have recieved two more copies of the mortgage offer. Which we’ve already signed. So have had to query with mortgage people.

Spends £16 on birthday candles, balloons and blue food dye.

QuitelovesStrictly · 19/09/2018 20:19

SWFL
Omg they are idiots ! Confused

ChristmasSeacow · 19/09/2018 20:20

Cross-posted with a few of you - blimey NoFilter you are going to save a packet!

I am lol at the breadth of opinion on cake pop sizes Grin. So anything goes! Mine are about golf ball sized, but then I made a few smaller ones with the leftover stuff and they look much better somehow.

I am weighing in tomorrow so trying to stick to the diet - but I really need to try a small cake pop to check it isn’t minging before I take 30 of ‘em to school. I was reading up on how to make them ns someone had said they taste like cake that has already been chewed... and now I’m worried that’s what I’ve produced! I didn’t bake little balls, I smushed up a cake and mixed with a bit of buttercream, then moulded balls. I doubt a bunch of 5-6 year olds will care much though Grin

SnugglySnerd · 19/09/2018 21:02

I have cake pop moulds and they are about the size of ping pong balls or just slightly smaller.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 19/09/2018 21:05

I think they'll be perfect at that size seacow you're allowed a taste test Wink

Watched some Wallace & gromit with dc, the excitement from ds, made us up party bags, prepped hot choc for him & dd, it was just a Netflix movie but it was us time Grin

I'd have a treatsizw twirl Halo

Cagliostro · 19/09/2018 21:14

I caught the end of SWFL quite good lord they are insufferable! DD was grumbling at the telly

Good haul in Poundland earlier, a few toiletries and home ed stationery supplies that were needed

Still feeling sick pretty much all the time but especially after eating. It’s been a few weeks now (don’t get any funny ideas, it’s definitely not the obvious) 🤢

Wolfcub · 19/09/2018 21:19

Helpimfalling · 19/09/2018 21:20

Love this title

Wolfcub · 19/09/2018 21:20

Cag that’s how I felt for the forst couple of week at the start of this virus - do you have vertigo like symptoms too?

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 19/09/2018 21:25

Cag that's how my gastroparesis makes me feel.

I've never had a cake pop.

ememem84 · 19/09/2018 21:25

cag are you 100% absolutely sure?!

Failing the obvious have you changed anything recently? Medication? Diet?

I haven’t watched swfl. How stupid were they?

We know that we have to pay £2731 a month out once we move as a minimum. Gulp. Those are the fixed costs at present. £997 Nursery. £170 car parking space £1564 mortgage.

Those are the big ones.

Mobiles are £35.
Internet is/was £20 a month
No idea re electric as yet - have asked lawyers for average costs
Also no idea re water or parish rates.

Home and contents insurance £302
Car £300
Cat £10.97

Food varies. But we were doing it for £35 a week. That’s dh meal planning and shopping.

Hm. It is all affordable (otherwise they wouldn’t have let us have the mortgage) and we’ve paid off higher earning less before (our first mortgage payments were £1700 a month. And we were earning £40k between us)

I panicked. But have thought about it and it’ll be fine. Earnings are higher. Tax breaks are better now (thanks ds!). We won’t be moving again.

We may have to cut back for a while. But it’ll be ok.

Cagliostro · 19/09/2018 21:32

Yup I tested! Mega relief at BFN 😂 periods are a bit out of whack as well hence testing but that can be put down to BFing really although doctor I saw recently reckons I have mild PCOS.

Vertigo is almost normal to me so I can’t really tell.

Diet not changed but actually I have gone back on my vitamin D and iron. Wonder if that’s it. It’s ferroglobin I take and they didn’t affect my tummy before though (I was on them a long time but had a break while we were moving as I kept forgetting). Won’t do me any harm to stop for a few days and see.

I’m not a sicky person at all normally.

thistimenextsummer · 19/09/2018 21:35

Also watching DIYSOS 😭

NSD

Wolfcub · 19/09/2018 22:00

God that was emotional. Just shows how much the right space (and in this case the right family) can change people’s lives

I had a weird frugal thing today. My clarinet needs repaired and I got three quotes:

£200 and 3 month wait
£300 and 2 month wait
£90 and work done immediately.

I posted it to the £90 and am crossing every finger I have.

Cagliostro · 19/09/2018 22:29

Thanks for the gastroparesis idea wreck is that a long term issue for you?

CurlsandCurves · 19/09/2018 23:01

Well. That was an interesting evening.

Went up to A’s house, she was driving us to S’s exhibition. Earlier in the day the restaurant we’d booked said it wasn’t able to open tonight due to staff illness. No problem.

Driving there, chatting away, when there’s a bang and the wheel on my side starts juddering. So we pull over and the tyre is flat as a pancake. No spare, but there is this filler type stuff and a pump. We try that. It doesn’t work. Luckily A has recovery so we call them and eventually they turn up. But it’s not a tow truck and the tyre is so bad it really can’t be driven on. So we pump it up again and the recovery guy follows us to the nearby pub carpark where we can abandon the car for tonight.

S has had a fantastic exhibition and picks us up on her way home, bringing sandwiches from the buffet, as by this point it’s 9 pm and all kitchens are shut. We called A’s husband, got to a pub, necked a jug of cocktails and A’s husband picked us up an hour later and brought us home!

Not exactly the night we’d had planned. Well get the bus next time 🤣

Nofilter · 19/09/2018 23:16

Thanks guys I'll checkout aero press and the suggestions.

We just love Nespresso pods so reluctant to change!!

If I cut the Starbucks would be more reasonable...

ChristmasSeacow · 19/09/2018 23:40

Em our position is similar... the way I think about it is that childcare costs could usually be stopped if one of you is out of work for some reason. So if your income were to drop for reasons of unemployment, your fixed costs could be reduced. Obviously there’s a tactical decision to be made about keeping childcare while you job hunt, or so as not to lose a nursery place, but it is at least within your control if needs must for whatever reason.

I’ve never had a cake pop either Wreck, hence suddenly realising I had no idea how big they are usually! I’ve seen plenty of pictures but none had a 50p for scale Grin. Anyway, I ate my small prototype and it was pretty decent, at least not embarrassing, so I will take them to school and not bin them! They look pretty too, I’ll take a pic tomorrow.

DS has been edgy for days but tonight I finally understood why - from a couple of things he said I was able to infer that he’s anxious about his birthday. That makes me sad - most children are just excited - but at least I was able to reassure him that we will only do things he likes doing. He doesn’t really like surprises and would certainly prefer just a normal day Sad. He’s easily overwhelmed.
