Now that I've put that in the title, we will almost certainly get snow. LOL!

Welcome to nearly-August.

Very busy day -finally home and DH hasnt even thought about starting dinner 😒
Despite the fact he has been home all day .
Seriously ...

Rownan magazine number 64 has arrived.
Eeeee some gorgeous stuff !

QuiteCleanBandit · 03/08/2018 19:03

Rowan!

WreckTangled · 03/08/2018 19:06

Oh bandit I would sort my own dinner out and assume dh didn't want anything, otherwise surely he would have started making it? Wink

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/08/2018 19:10

£45 holiday club, £9 millets,

SnugglySnerd · 03/08/2018 19:13

Ouch Girlie! Poor DD.

Those are the exact same shoes I'd like to get for DD2. Absolutely gorgeous.

Brilliant day. Homemade play dough was a big success. Even the dts had a go and didn't eat much it.

Lovely afternoon at local NT place with my mum and she bought the ice creams so NSD.

QuiteCleanBandit · 03/08/2018 19:40

He is cooking now Wreck 😁

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/08/2018 19:42

Home made play doh is fab. Store it in a plastic bag and just knead it again.

Lovely shoes. Very cute. Everyone needs a bit of frivolity in life.

Flappyjack · 03/08/2018 19:58

NSD

Bored as bat shit though.

Wolfcub · 03/08/2018 20:18

Can’t remember if I’ve already posted this. Pe shorts, pump bag and new wall planner bought

ChristmasSeacow · 03/08/2018 20:23

Ha ha, I am feeling the shoe love! I kept DS’s first pair of shoes, I’ll keep these too. I’ve kept the box so I can put them back to store them later, which DH thinks is mad considering our car is groaning at the seams. He doesn’t understand ConfusedGrin

Quite, what is this Rowan magazine of which you speak? I probably won’t benefit from knowing... Wink. The dress I am knitting for dd is in Rowan felted tweed (in Rage, the beautiful claret colour). It was ridiculously expensive, about £50, which is more than I would ever spend on a ready-made dress... but I used my birthday vouchers from my parents so it wasn’t real money. The pattern is so complicated though - not the knitting itself but the way they have written it out in panels. I have to read 3 pages at once and it is driving me batty.

I am wondering about interest rates... at the moment our mortgage is fixed and we have savings but I doubt the rates will improve much so probably not much difference to us. We move into a variable mortgage rate in about 18m though... hopefully I’ll be salaried by then so we can remortgage and shop around.

I must try making play doh when I get home.

We’ve arrived in Orkney. This is the view from our sitting room. I am currently wearing a hoodie, no sweltering here!

ememem84 · 03/08/2018 20:40

Home. Ds is in bed. Dh and I have had our dinner and a glass of wine. Le yum. Now watching orange is the new black.

ScandiLady · 03/08/2018 20:45

Currently laying with a sleeping dd2 on top of me.. Museum/Zoo was awesome. Dd1 loved it. She were allowed to hold a tarantulas Shock. The animal care taker were so impressed with this little 4 year old girl that she were allowed afterwards to hold a goliat spider together with him.. Promised her we'd go back again so better get a year card for me, she's free luckily. I filmed her holding it and they asked if they could use it on their fb page.

Hope sunny is feeling better soon.

Currently.my sale is up on 102£ so really pleased. And nsd todaySmile

WreckTangled · 03/08/2018 20:48

QuiteCleanBandit · 03/08/2018 20:58

Is Body Shop party a euphemism ?Grin
Seriously -why on earth would you go to that ?Confused

LonelyOversharer · 03/08/2018 21:07

Spends today... £150 garage, £73 vets bill for ferret castration last week. £3.45 postage.

Home made sausage rolls for tea, with loads of homegrown tomatoes and cucumbers. The garden has exploded after all the rain.

I've given notice on my storage unit, so it's into the loft for me in the morning, goody.

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 03/08/2018 21:15

I made it as far as the piano today thanks Scandi and have been working hard at breathing exercises, encouraged on by Bandit. Now I am bashing away at my colouring book and listening to music in the spirit of meditation and all that.

I have not knowingly spent any money today, although dh says we have run out of food, so maybe I should do something about that.

WreckTangled · 03/08/2018 22:02

Exactly bandit pfft. Just buy it online with a voucher code like everyone else.

Tacoyaki · 03/08/2018 22:29

Love the shoes, seacow, and I don't even think they are impractical. Yellow goes with everything!

Spend today: £55 on hiring a carpet cleaning machine and product - someone spilt sticky tea all over the landing Brew

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 03/08/2018 22:48

They are gorgeous shoes seacow they remind me of the little girl in the Alfie and Annie Rose stories, my dd had a pair of yellow short dungarees which would have looked amazing with them!!

Cagliostro · 04/08/2018 07:18

I love that colour too. I will most likely buy the same shoes if they're still around when Cagletini needs them. They are in them for such a short time, why not get cute ones? :o I'm trying to exercise "less is more" principles this time round, especially with things like toys, just getting a couple of really lovely things rather than loads. And with the house stuff too, I'm enjoying choosing very carefully rather than speeding through the list of what we need (I did get some cheap bits ASAP though, the stuff we couldn't manage without)

Loving all the Rowan discussion Wink :o

That's so annoying about the paint fluffy I'd heard such good things. How would I stop it going over if I can't use masking tape? Is frog tape different?

I am planning to pop into town later. I realised I haven't been as far as town (15 min walk) in a week! Realised yesterday I've only been to the park and the pub once each Blush I barely noticed as I have more space and a garden :o and TBH the heat is killing me anyway, I just can't do it! But we need groceries (yet again - I am getting better at not overbuying and using what we have but am going too far the other way) and I thought tk maxx might be good for homewares stuff we need.

Sunny sounds like a CFS flare up. The hyperventilating thing is interesting, I was told off for doing that when diagnosed with CFS and POTS as it raises my heart rate too much. When I get dizzy after climbing the stairs I have to focus on slowing down my breathing. I used to have issues with hyperventilating when I started puberty, looking back that's when POTS started. Is it something to do with not getting enough oxygen to the cells? I may be talking bollocks of course.

I am on the edge of flare up myself, inevitable TBH. Heat plus the stress and effort of moving. Blah.

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/08/2018 07:38

You can use frog tape if you have it, I always use it. Edge up to it for the first coat, remove the tape while wet and then be very careful with the second coat.

BestFootForwardAndThenSome · 04/08/2018 07:46

Cag That's interesting that you have it too. The ASD assessor said it was incredibly common in ASD people. It's all about breathing too much, and losing too much carbon dioxide, which then means that there is not enough carbonic acid in the blood, so the blood becomes too alkaline. Then the body goes a bit haywire, which is where I am now. I am holding my breath a lot to try to accrue some more CO2. Smile

All that stuff I mentioned before about drinking carbonated water was related to this. Drinking carbonated water is another way to get more carbonic acid into the blood and balance things up. Since hyperventilation causes anxiety, people can be calmed down pretty quickly either by holding their breath, or apparently by drinking a bit of fizz.

Sorry, I know I'm right off the track here. Blah blah blah I find the science fascinating.
